Jigging the RANFURLY BANKS!

Amazing opportunity to fish the Ranfurly banks with some social media influencers.
Staying in Hicks bay we were minutes from the launch site with Coastal fishing charters with Aaron Seargant and deckie “Slippery”.
Using all @CatchFishingTackle for the trip and as you will see, great fishing gear indeed.
We were using
Acid wrap rods - 400g&250g w/JGX 7000 & JGX 5000 reels
Kensai SPJ rods - PE3-5 200g w/JGX 2000 reels
Jigs:
200g double trouble SPJ
280g deep V SPJ
200g deep V SPJ
750g Giant squid wings
300g Long john slider
We had PE3 Tasline braid on SPJ rods but also PE4 on speed jigging rods.

man for an open ocean, it has a lot of massive swell but sure delivers lot of fish. wild to see a yellowfin tuna on the spj.

Cheers bro… just do it brother. We fished those grounds easy, I learnt about upsizing the hooks though aye. That light gear was still able to straighten hooks so it had lots of power. You’ll see some bigger specimens in the next episode. Will likely have you sold brother 👌🏽
