I fucking cried when he mentioned games coming into your life at certain times. Animal Crossing New Leaf, the year (or year after?) it came out. My grandmother and her side of the family never had much money, but she decided to buy me the forty dollar game for Christmas. My grandmother died three years after. I would've never gotten into gaming without her. To this day I cant listen to the music without crying.

My moment was when my Mom got a copy of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim (PS3), and let me play it. She later gave the copy to me. Way later on, I got into other games again because I got bored of making numerous playthroughs and I became a TES lore monger. I probably know more about The Elder Scrolls' lore than the average gamer. And The Elder Scrolls 5 came into my life when I stopped wanting to become a pro gamer and thought that I was done with video games. My big dream is to become a rapper now, but I will still cherish the...
memories...and treasures...I had from playing The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

I did 2 papers in college on Majoras Mask because I love it so much. The first was in Spanish because we learned about the origin mythology of the Majoras Mask that inspired the game. The second was for a psych class about how the stages of greif and the sense of impending doom affected both the characters and by proxy the player. Majoras Mask is a masterpiece and while I'll always respect what Ocarina of Time did for gaming as a whole I will always love Majoras Mask probably more than any other game ever.

Major respect to PBG. He has excellent taste in games. By the way, killing horses by jumping off mountains was one of my favorite things to do in Oblivion haha, as evil as that sounds.
I found you because a guy in my PE class subscribed to me, and so I checked his channel and he had just subscribed to you. I watched the hey you, pikachu video and the rest was history.
I don't know how many subscribers you had when I first subscribed, mainly because I completely forgot, but you were actually my first TH-camr I ever watched. My first vid was the one with Bart Simpson.

Skyrim is overrated imo. It's the game that got most people into The Elder Scrolls, but Oblivion is a much better game, and if people would actually play Oblivion, they'd realize their mistake.

My top favorite game of all time is that way for the same reason, even though I've only known about the game for a few months: Mother 3. After finishing EarthBound (which is also an exceptional game, but comparatively bland in story) a friend recommended me to Mother 3, and got me the english translation on an emulator (because there's no official English copy unfortunately). That game, to me is the most moving and emotional storyline I have ever experienced. The gameplay is very balanced overall, I like the rolling counter and multiple hit mechanic, and it is very challenging, yet possible. There's a lot of comical parts, which oddly seemed to fit in all the more with the often depressing storyline. Although I have a strong disposition against showing negative emotions, I cried at least twice during the course of the game.
Why this is at all relateable is because the mood of the storyline correlated with how I was feeling at the time; a sense of loss, change, and sadness. And because of that I noticed a lot of symbolism in the game that made me realize just how exceptionally made the game was.
I'm waiting to see how the fan-made Mother 4 will turn out!

You've come such a long way - I still remember years back when I first found this channel while recovering from having my wisdom teeth taken out, and I seriously can't stress how much better these videos made me feel. To take something so painful and turn it into something that I look back at with fondness... That's amazing. Like, no, seriously. Think about that for a sec: I have fond memories of my wisdom teeth recovery period because of discovering this channel and enjoying these videos so much. That blows my mind, but at the same time, I totally get it.
Austin makes such light-hearted yet entertaining and engaging content that it just immediately brightens your day. Just the one thing I'm confused about. You put a snowboarding game above Xenoblade?
I mean, once again, to each their own, but that just seems like a strange choice.
Then again, never played SSX 3, but Xenoblade is my personal all time favorite (hopefully Xenoblade X will take its place).

***** I was waiting for someone to call me out on that. Yeah it's a pretty big jump in genre from Open World JRPG to Snowboarding, but SSX is a pretty polished and enjoyable series.
SSX 3 I feel has both nostalgic attachment to me, but also some of the most precise and polished gameplay of any game I've ever played, wrapped in a blanket of style and utter zany-ness.
Not many people have played the series and I understand why people think it's a stupid choice to put over something as acclaimed as Xenoblade, but I just feel it's one of the most flawless and unrealistic sports games ever pretty much.

I found it seriously interesting that I would have probably only agreed with putting Mario 64 on my list and how your opinion was so different from mine.
