For the Barblock, you glossed over the Devil's Sight invocation. That is the most broken one there. It lets you see inside the darkness spell. You can't cast it, but have any other party member drop darkness down and the barblock is more or less invincible inside it, while being able to attack anything freely.
@@fiveforbiting Deck barbarian out with gear to improve movement speed, ignore difficult terrain, etc. Also equip a big 2 handed weapon of your choice with the Great Weapon Master feat or go for a throwing build relying on the Tavern Brawler feat and wear something like the adamantine scale mail. Click the scream button Click next to the enemy to bum-rush them and close to melee Click the enemy to annihilate them
Frenzy Barbarian + Tavern Brawler + The Sparkler hand armor + Throwing Heavy Weapons is an amazing combo. Throwing never truly misses when throwing Heavy Weapons from above since it also factors crushing damage. The Sparklers proc on throws since they're considered unarmed attacks, allowing a large additional source of lightning damage to factor in as well. Not to mention, any of the smaller races, such as Goblin and Duregar are *very* throwable. Not only does the target take damage, but the thrown enemy takes crushing damage as well. It also helps you set up better returns on grenades.
My personal favorite weapon to give a Barbarian is the Shattered Flail, gotten by defeating the Gnoll Flind in Act 1. For one thing, it's a +2 weapon, but the important bit is that each hit will heal you for 1d6 hit points. There is a downside, though. If you don't attack with it every turn, you have a chance of going mad and attacking your party members. Also, it's worth mentioning that, while Eagle Heart's diving attack is situational, it's a lot of fun. I had Lae'zel cast Enhance Leap on Karlach just as a battle started, and I spent every turn with Karlach jumping onto a nearby roof, then turning around and dive bombing the enemies into the dirt. Every turn. You'd think knocking an Ogre prone would be difficult. It's not for Karlach.

Since temp health doesn’t stack I would go GOO rather than fiend for the Barblock especially for your more crit fishing type builds since I causes fear on crits. With things like False life and Armor of Agathas you have easy access to free temp health anyways.
Plan for one of my runs is to have a necromancer and spore druid for zombie army while having oathbreaker and wolf hear berserker for buffing zombies. Should be tons of fun

Was going to go orc to min max, but halfling is up there plus it would fit right in with the character. A no strength midget barb/druid using wisdom and nature while raging to lock enemies down would be too funny
What might also be really good is 3 levels in Bear Heart Barbarian, and the rest in Rogue. Focus on Dexterity and Constitution mostly, use finesse weapons for sneak at tack. But don't dump Strength. Any old subclass of Rogue will do. Take the Tough feat as soon as you can. Boom, done. Wait, can you sneak attack with non-finesse weapons in bg3? I'm honestly not sure. I don't think so.
You can’t. But dex, dagger throwing thief berserker with extra bonus action and throw as a bonus action sounds pretty sweet. Could go str too if you want to throw heavier weapons and invest less in sneak attack.
Hmm...I wonder if 5 levels Barbarian with Eagle Heart then going dual class Rogue for 3 levels to get Assassin subclass and then back to Barbarion for Aspect of the Stallion. I think multiclassing in to Rogue gives an extra skill proficiency and 2 skill expertises, Sneak Attack (obviously), and then the cunning actions to dash, jump and hide as bonus actions. The Aspect grants you Temporary Hit Points anytime you dash, so that with the Cunning Action Dash allows you to convert your Bonus Action into Temporary Hit Points every turn, on top of effectively doubling your movement speed. And then with the Assassin subclass, when you sneak up and hit people with sneak attacks it becomes an automatic Critical, most likely for huge damage because you're a Barbarian who is most likely wielding a Two Handed weapon, and then get your actions refreshed at the start of combat. And then if all that isn't enough, the Eagle Heart makes it so that when you're enraged Oppurtunity Attacks against you have disadvantage, so the enemy tank characters just get to sit there and watch as you just weave right by them to kill their wizards and archers without giving them a second thought.
IDk if I could ever not be a zerker. Being able to throw a 5hp target to do pretty good damage to another target, or kill a low hp target and the thrown target, is just too damn fun imo.
multiclassing intimidates me as this game is my first experience with d&d but these guides make me want to try a barb/fighter half orc for my second run.
I'd highly recommend it. Going 8 wildheart barb/4 battle master fighter is easily one of the strongest melee brawlers you can make with the right items.
I do think the smites are overrated for barbs, since they both require concentration, which doesnt work when you rage? I personally like 5 Berserker, 3 Thief, 4 Champion with a big 2h weapon that preferably has additional dmg types on it. And if your Orc, remember, you roll one extra dice on crit. which is more effective on weapons that roll 1 dice on hit then two. (1d10 vs 2d6) You can go for the 2handed weapon feat if you got the accuracy (-5) to spare and still hit. Otherwise i prefer to use it for other stuff.
How are you going to gloss over Enraged Throw? It's one of the most fun and awesome ability. Just throw an enemy into another enemy, or off a cliff, or into fire or acid on the ground, and it knocks them prone. Not to mention picking up random items like a Cauldron, to throw at your enemies. It's incredibly underrated.
Wait what??? Half-Orc is by far the best Barbarian if we are talking about power. Not only that, they are the best melee race by far. I understand you wanting to give options, but Half-Orc gets massive advantages as a barbarian or any melee in BG3. With that crit bonus on melee.
I think most people underestimate Berseker. I think it's a stronger barbarian subclass than wildheart (I can't say wild magic, not played one). Pre-lv5 Berseker is the only class can do extra attack with the bonus action. Throw build is one of the strongest builds in bg3 and it's very level friendly. You get Returning Pike at goblin camp at act1; some other green, blue (ring and gloves) at act1 for throwing and guess what legend you first get at act3? a returning Trident at the Cirus.
Interestingly enough, you can cast the Shield spell as a reaction while raging. I'm not sure if this is working as intended, because casting Shield as a reaction is still casting a spell.
Do other reaction spells like Counterspell work? Or is it just Shield? If the latter, probably a bug. If the former, maybe Rage is only flagged in game to block your action and bonus action spells?
@@kamig2127 Maybe because reaction spells automatically give a pop-up to use them whenever conditions are met. Same for me with Shadowheart now that she's a Light Cleric with Warding Flare in act 3
Engagement for mah boi. Glad you've put these together, Sparty, genuinely very informative even for me who felt pretty clued in. Problem is, now I kinda wanna do a new run as a half orc / dragonborn wild magic barbarian.
I'm playing as a half orc barb in my coop campaign building along the fantasy of massive jump distance and huge crits, so I'm plannign to end with 4 tiger heart barb (15ft jump dist when raging), 7 champion fighter (easier crits and extra jump distance at lvl7), and 1 Great old one warlock (for the fear on crits). Currently level 9 and my jump distance is 63ft, and that's without champ level 7 feature and before raging. Forget about if my wizard casts long jump on me.

Larian is still shit about stuff like this, but Relentless Endurance REALLY needs to say on the info card what it's cooldown is. WHY DO THEY LEAVE THAT OFF OF SO MANY IN GAME INFO CARDS????
Reckless Attack as a Barb to get Advantage? That’s one way to do it, if you do say Barblock you can get Devil’s Sight as an Eldritch Invocation and have another party member cast Darkness to get better odds on attacks as well. Along those lines a Warlock’s extra attack (Pact of Blade Level 5 deepened boon) stacks with a Martial’s extra attack. There should also be some other options like weapons, gloves, boots, or armor that can help with accuracy. If you chose Berserker Barbarian you also can attack as a Bonus Action. That as well as Extra Attack can help do wonders, more attacks mean more chances to hit. Plus Great Weapon Master can be toggled on or off if you don’t like your odds against a certain opponent.

If you're doing barblock, I would have a really hard time not going 5 warlock and pact of the blade to get the third attack on your normal action.

sword of chaos does the same healing without the madness and its been great lol free 3 to 18 hp heals

For Barblock 31:52 on Dark One's Blessing - this gift from your patron grants you Charisma Modifier + Warlock Level hit points (minimum 1).

You need finesse weapons to do sneak attacks sadly

Don’t sleep on berserkers frenzy throw build. There are some weapons that automatically return to you
The Returning Pike is probtthe first you'll find. Grat sells it at the Goblin Camp.
You can also MC into fighter for Eldritch Knight, and then bind any weapon you want to yourself, no?

Monks get a bonus attack as well, pre-level 5. It is unarmed, however, rather than using your weapon.

You can't rage in Heavy Armor though, whether you are proficient or not.
You can, but your rage will be impeded and most (not all!) of the benefits won't apply

Great Weapon Master isn't all you're describing. The -5 is pretty substantial and I miss ALL the time. How do you make up for that penalty?
