Rode this train in 2001. Nice ride. Great scenery. For a railroad fan, it's nice that you can travel this line today. I especially enjoyed watching the rafters on the Arkansas. I want to come and do it again! Thanks
Actually, even though the first and last time I went was in 2008, it was like this. It's amazingly beautiful and it offers a bit of mystery and magic as you travel down the river. You can even see an old, abandoned railway on the opposite side of the river.

Hello TheLoneDollier. Interesting comment. Yes, the train ride is just like this. Great food, incredible scenery and outstanding service. It's why over 100,000 people come from around the world to ride this train. Don't know where you are from, but if you're ever in Colorado, let us know and we'll set you up on this spectacular train ride. Don't quite understand your comment really.

I was there this summer and while I didn't ride the train ( because I was filming it from above ) I did see a lot of tourist in the area who were having a great time. The people that I saw on the train appeared to be enjoying themselves too. You can see my video of the train on my channel.
It was just overacted as to how much fun everyone was having & how outstanding everything was. I am from the South & while I've never seen the Royal Gorge (& we are considering it as a destination spot) I have been on cruises, to beach resorts, mountains, & the like. All the ads are the same. It's just has never been as portrayed. I guess I've become cynical over the years & ads of this type just increase my cynicism. I've never seen families or people having quite that much fun. My apologies.
