Motherhood: the best job, the hardest job. Social media makes you feel like you have to be perfect. There is no such thing as perfect. We need to embrace teaching the kids how to get through REAL LIFE and that is exactly what you are doing by showing them the ways you manage things. A parents' job is to teach our children how to live as adults-you are doing a great job. Mistakes, life, clutter, imperfections, and even things that go perfectly are all part of the world and life 🥰🥰🥰 (also, you have 2 full time jobs..mom, teacher, YT business owner...give yourself a pat on the back knowing you are rocking it! )
I’ve thought of you a lot recently Erica - my mom died in September and the grief really sneaks up on me when I don’t expect it! I know you’ve experienced the grief of losing your own mom. My daughter just got her first apartment and will be moving out after Christmas which will be exciting but also sad, feeling a little overwhelmed with the holidays approaching. I appreciate you so much and your videos always lift me up and encourage me, thank you!
As simple as possible. My 21 year old daughter has major surgery the day after Christmas with an 8 week minimal mobility recovery so I am prepping now for that.
Hi Erica I’m 65 and I have downsized my Christmas tree three times in the last three years I hope I got it right this time? And one tub of decorations it feels so good
Simple and organised is the way to go with Christmas. I agree with you Erica a slow transition into the festivities works far better than a sudden rush. Prep and planning, then doing a few things a day really helps. I think people make it too complicated and forget it is about being with the people we love and celebrating thankfulness, not buying and giving every present in the store or eating so much we regret it later; both monetarily and in other ways. Forced jollity never works and making memories doesn’t have to literally cost the earth.
I have moved 3 times in the last 10 years. Each time to a smaller place. I have downsized each time. I have one tub for spring and summer, one tub for fall and winter. Who cares if I don't have my whole house like a Christmas store. I'm happy, and that's all that matters. Keep on with your journey. Blessings to you and your family. ❤
I absolutely love the thankful tree! My church uses a Christmas tree for it, then switches it into a Christmas tree. Yours is a great idea for family!!! Thank you!
Definitely want simple! When I dig out those bins I feel ready to let go of a LOT this year! I am sticking to more “winter” decor rather than red/green Christmas as I feel I can keep that out throughout January too and bring some winter cosines in! I am LONGING for a more simple life…. Making space for what really matters. I am also hoping to make some new Christmas decor which will be more meaningful in years to come. Am 60 and feel first 60 years were about accumulation now it’s about getting rid of STUFF to make room for what I truly live in life. Love the video - can you do one on how you made the sea glass tree? I love it!! X😊
A water leak and kitchen demo necessitated decluttering. Oh my goodness! I can't tell you how much my husband and I love using only what we need. The simplicity and freedom gives you such amazing mental bandwidth. Less stuff=less stress. It's an indescribable feeling, really. I didn't realize I was so overwhelmed everyday that I was really paraylzed in enjoying life. Thank you for always being supportive and showing the way. ❤
It’s funny, I just got a new fridge and was putting shelving liner on some of the shelves when I had a thought come to mind. I am 63 yrs old and when I was a kid, No One put shelving liner in their fridges. lol. No one cared how fridges looked or how they were organized. All our leftovers were in various coloured old margarine containers and usually were in there so long that the food was moldy. That also led me to thinking about how society now makes everyone think that their homes have to be perfect all the time…like no one lives in them. I think we need to go back to real living and us women need some time to just relax. Oh, and most Christmas trees looked pretty ugly back then. Haha. Have a great day!
Thank you for sharing your life and tips and discoveries with us! I feel so blessed that I found your videos! I wish nothing but the best for you and your family, Ms Erica!! 🥰🥰🥰
We moved and I don't have a big soap room anymore, so I'm struggling to bring things in and find a home. I may need to destash a lot of silicone molds.. lol We have not had time to decorate for christmas yet and im getting ready for a craft show. I have stuff everywhere trying to find it all. We ended up throwing out about 16 totes of stuff over the summer. I feel like im getting somewhere. Sometimes I leave the house messy and just say it is okay. My kids are 8 and 10 and i have them help me clean last week. I have a herniated disc and leaning over is soooooo painful. I find asking fkr help is okay now. Took me until 37 to relize it. ♡
When I moved 2 years ago I got rid of all my holiday decorations. I bought a few items for Christmas last year and wanted to a few more things, which I purchased today. No gifts, no big meals just keep it simple❤ I have told my family no more gifts 😮, I like to do things for them thru the year and it’s more about time together than gifts ❤. Love how you have worked thru and including your kids in decorating.
This last summer I ruthlessly declutterred my Fall & Christmas decor. Got rid of 50% of Fall, 95% of Halloween & 50% of Christmas. Everything has been and will be so much easier!🎄🎁🍁
Said yes today on playing with the kids and that was rewarding. Everyday won’t look like that but I want to stop and spend time with each kid in something they like to do. I also get stressed in a cluttered environment and I NEED things to get very simple heading into the holidays. Even thinking of boxing up some things in the kids rooms and taking down fall decor right before Thanksgiving(because I’m not hosting this year) just to have a few weeks until I get out Christmas decor. And not focusing on big outings and expensive things but board games, painting, or having a candle lit at dinner. We can make time with our family special without all the expense.
Too funny, I also loop my laundry (by day until I miss one and then I just loop.) And I have been decorating by season ... But I have way more FALL than I have for Christmas.
So glad to see you back, and hope you enjoyed a well deserved break! Definitely feeling a simplified holiday this year! Instead of putting our normal decor up, we are doing our favorites and making a few new ones with things we find in our back yard. Twig star ornaments and leaf lanterns are 2 things I'm looking forward to trying!
I love this! I'm not a mom. but keeping it simple with health issues. i did put fall out 1st sept. and got rid of 5 things. some donate, some trash. and this week we hit tempt if 51 in am, that triggered me to want christmas even though it doesnt snow here. took down most of fall and only a few christmas like my gnome diamond painting, christmas rugs i brought out. i will do the rest on thanksgiving day. :) have a blessed holiday 🐿🍂🎶🎶☕☕🍁🍁🦉🦃❄🎄🎅🤶 May you have a very blessed holiday season Lucus family! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I do laundry daily, weather permitting since we hang dry outside (even in winter), and I don't find that it's that high. What gets me is how much more expensive utilities are here compared to our home state. Watering the garden, though, THAT'S where it really adds up. I can't wait to get rain barrels.
So...I looked up average water prices in America and they are quite cheaper than in Europe where I live, and my country is a feshwater mine 😵💫🫗 No wonder you could do 10 loads a day...
Please stop the fake smile. It's annoying. Be simple, and authentic. You are a pretty woman; stay real. I noticed those fake smiling in every one of your videos. Please stop.
@@EricaLucasLoves Erica, you have a lovely smile. Please don't listen to this hateful comment. I love your videos, they are very relaxing. Lots of love!
That was one of the rudest, most useless comments I have read in a long time. Erica, you are so authentic. I adore your videos ❤ and you have a beautiful smile!

I would have that sea glass tree out all year long! It is beautiful!
I quite like it!
I was stunned with how beautiful you home- made seaglass tree is!
Thanks! I quite liked making it
I don’t have a particular comment but I want to appease the algorithm, so I’ll just say I appreciate you Erica!

I'm not really working towards simplification, but getting very clear on what is essential during these final weeks of the year!
I would totally be interested in your fashion design lessons.
I am having fun planning it!!

Simple 😊❤
How do you make pre-made blts?
I have bacon, sliced tomatoes, and lettuce in a glass container. The kids just need to assemble.
Wool and the gang. 😂😂😂😂😂 Great yarn name. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
💛💛💛
I'm moving the first week of December so definitely stressed and feeling like I need to simplify 😂😂😂
Yeah.... Life has been way too overwhelming. I just wanna snap my fingers and start fresh. And do what I want and have it be the way I want.
Idea: revisit basement while Xmas stuff out of the space
🍁❤🍂Good morning Erica from So Cal🍁♥️🍂

I love the sea glass Christmas tree ❤❤ Could you share how you made it? Please!!
Hi! I took a class. She bought sea glass from Amazon and a triangle foam. Hot glue and go!
@ Thank You!! That sounds simple enough. It looks like it would be more complicated than that. ❤️
I am actually curious how high is your monthly water bill, because that kind of cloth washing schedule looks insane... 🌊

@@katie7748watering the garden is the bill killer for me too. I could do 10 loads a day and it a tiny bump.

I can see how 'winging it' wouldn't fly when you're homeschooling 3 kids who also do extracurricular activities.
Due to some serious health issues I am simplifying everywhere I can.
