Lets put it that way-very soon you will be up and out again and another person probably will beg you to allow her to come with you to get out of the scorching heat. So I think the Lidl will be the way you have to try. I guess the Lidl will be O.K. You will have to try it out, anyway ;-)
The Aldi tent is currently £7.99😲 yes £7.99 you read in right! End of season clear out, I was very impressed with how easy to put up and stands well against the wind in the garden at least. Yep good 1 man starter tent and will do for mini adventures bikepacking
its great that you are reviewing the budget stuff, might be cool to look at mods to make them better, adding guy out points, extra poles and stuff like that.
Yet another tent called 2 berth when it patently isn't, wonder why they feel the need to do that? Nothing new though I suppose, I've always gone for one that says it's at least one person more than the number of people who want to use it to ensure there's actually enough room. Thank you for another interesting review Kevin.
Thanks Annie. Maybe if you were car camping and could keep all your gear in the car it could sleep two... But even then, the shape at the bottom means your legs would be squeezed together anyway...
Good to see it hold up to wind, but I am 6’3 so I think I will be sending it back. I was going to keep mine as we discussed on my video as an extra tent, but I think I can get better. I have the Helm1 and even considering buying the helm2
Hi Kev, thanks for the review, I am yet to take mine out but by looking at your review it looks very small inside compared to my Tamar 2. The Adventuridge maybe okay for a one night stealth camp in the woods - I doubt it can handle the high winds of the hills.
The wind on this summit camp was 30mph plus and it did just fine, even pitched the wrong way into the wind. I think the low profile makes it pretty tough...
Not yet. At this point I've got too many tents to get anymore. I need to get out and use / review the ones I've got and then sell a load before I can buy anymore. I don't have any money at the moment as my car broke down completely and is in the garage.
@@TheWalkingKev i knew they sell the camping stuff off cheap this time of the year i have been keeping an eye out had a choice green or blue was tempted to get the sleeping mat too
It would suit a shorty like myself 🙂I think you could easily modify the door flap fastening but perhaps you should sell it and invest in another test for us to look at 😉
Can't do with body parts touching the mesh here. Mosquitoes would have a focused feast with that from the outside. Wondering if the guy lines could be used to hold the vents open? And tying a knot in the 'loop' part (or sewing it shorter) will hold the inner door better. Not quite enough tent for one, but at the price one cannot get much so if it's the best you can do then it will do- barely. Hope the car repairs are cheap and quick!
Car still in the garage at the moment... No idea about cost yet. The niggles with the tent aren't deal breakers, as the basic design is solid enough, your suggestions are sensible but I can't see myself modding it.
@@TheWalkingKev Yeah, sort of like adding lipstick to a pig. If it's all you had it would be worth a little effort if you were going to use it much. I'm one of those who modifies almost everything to better suit me but most people won't. Not bad as-is.
Not really, I could near sit up fully at the tallest point, but as you said, you'll not be able to at 6ft 4. Must be tough getting tents spacious enough for you.
This was the Aldi tent on a 632m summit in 30mph winds... So would you be confident that the Lidl tent would be fine in the same conditions?

@@RealMash we'd need an extreme heatwave for that to happen, and we'd have to take the baby as well so I'd need an even bigger tent than the Lidl!
I am looking forward to seeing the Lidl test.
I hope to get out in it next week...

I know! I bought another one as at £7.99 it was too cheap not to. Tent bargain of the year by far!
It's a compact and nice tent!
Yeah, it did well in the wind and plenty of sideways space inside.
Great review, glad I watched this as I have no hope of fitting in one 👍
Ha ha. Shame as it's only £29.99 in store now!

I've got a video coming up where I've used gear I have to upgrade my £9.99 Lidl tent...

@@anniemac3075 I think it can definitely encourage cuddling if you're with your partner, so that can be a benefit!

The Helm 1 is supposed to be great, I was really considering one but ended up with the Nordisk Svalbard 1 PU instead.
Looks like it did ok, other than the length
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up!
Another quality and informative review.

Great vid , have you looked at any of the cheap tents in Decathlon?

Just picked one up for 15squids in the sale need to see if i can fit inside
That's an absolute bargain!!!

Ha ha. I have plenty of tents still to try. Been snagging some more vintage tents from various places...
@@TheWalkingKev I look forward to seeing them all.
Brave man !!! atb
Ha ha. I felt totally confident in it all night.
A fun exercise (for the viewers at least!), but this does look like an annoying tent 😂 Fair play for taking it up there! 👏
Once I finally got to sleep I slept fine. It's not a bad little tent really. Solid for the money I think.
@@TheWalkingKev For the money, of course. It stood its ground, which I think is the main criterion at this price point 👍
You looked very cramped and uncomfortable.
Emergency shelter or beach tent perhaps 👍
I think that's just my tired face! It was ok inside really for one, if it were just a fraction longer it'd be spacious for one...

I’m sorry to say it again but, you’d be better off with a couple of black bin liners!
Not quite sure how you can make out it is that bad!?
Cheers Kev. being 6 '4... This tent is a no goer, out of interest. could you sit up.?. alas if i can't sit up . ATVB2U .Scott Somerset

The way they define tent size is a joke. Not just Aldi but all tent makers. These are one person tents in my opinion.
I would agree.
TBH, I don't like it still.
It's not my favourite tent... But I've always preferred Lidl so maybe I'm not totally objective!
