GOOD VIDEO !!! TOOK ME 3 YEARS to Finish my Bathroom Complete !!!! i had to be in the Mood . Took 1 Day to Hand Chisel the small square tiles to the Concrete Float Pad . Now using Crimp Pex to Move Washer and Dryer and Build Shower in Basement
I would really suggest waterproofing behind the tub. Once the space starts collecting moisture, that insulation behind is the first thing to mold. You would also need padding under the laminate, concrete is never well leveled and allowed dust to pass through.
Your lucky to have your beautiful wife help you. Thank her with all your heart bruh. Cuz there could be a time where she doesn’t want to help or be with you anymore. Appreciate her with your heart ❤️
Holy shit I've never seen a shower show the temp of the water. Super useful and I want it in my life and never want to be without it because I'm very specific about my shower temp!
Hey! I used the same bathtub enclosure from home depot :) You have to attach it together really well or it leaks. I used silicon at first and it leaked then I had to pull out the silicon cuz it didn't really adhere then I used adhesive with silicon on top of that. I used an acrylic tub because it was light and I was working by myself. But if I had it to do again I'd probably use a heavier one. I'm afraid to put too much pressure in the wrong place on it but it looks okay and so far so good it seems to work okay. Your bathroom looks like a Hilton bathroom, great job.
Did you have to follow code for this and have inspectors come in to allow the process to continue?! I like the look of the finished product, it looks really nice and modern!
Great video! How did you hook up the drains for the toilet and tub to the main drain line? Was there existing drain pipe in that area of the basement? Since it is in a basement, did you need to install an ejector pump?
The house was pre-plumbed with a toilet drain (it's the one you can see in the beginning of the video) and when I cut into the floor, there was a buried drain for the tub as well. The house is only a few years old and was built with an eventually finished basement in mind, which is why those were there.
You only need an ejector pump if your main sewage drain is above the level that your bathroom drains are. Our homes were built with a very low drain line so we don't need an ejector pump here, but it's always best to check on that.
Yes,that's what I meant. My husband always puts it behind shower and tub walls.thank you,did see you put it up on other walls, curious why not behind tub surround?
Ah - gotcha. Yes, if you're doing a tile surround, for example, then you'd use the drywall. For vinyl or acrylic surrounds like this, they're designed to mount directly to the studs, then they have a flange where the drywall can sit atop them to connect to the rest of the wall. Just depends on the type of surround you're doing.
Awesome timelapse!!!! Looks amazing. Wish we thought of that before filming a vlog style video about building a bathroom (it’s on my channel!) Anyway, great work!
Great job and inspiring to watch. So if you had to guess within about 6 hours high or low, how many total man hours between you and your family helping out did it take?
This is good because instead of adding a music you talk through what is going on in the video. Also, what type of bathtub is that? I have never seen this type of bathtub before that has panels.
Thanks so much. I honestly don't recall what the exact tub and surround were but I just picked them up from the local home depot. You can usually find shower surrounds in both single piece and three piece configurations. The single piece surrounds are more naturally water tight but also a lot more difficult to maneuver.
Love the video! I just found your channel today and is amazing everything that you have done! keep Going. PS: that flareon deserves better in minute 5:03 i just found funny that you had a pokemon there xD
I’m curious what the tub surround manufacturer’s recommendation is for putting some sort of moisture barrier behind it. In Every bathroom build I’ve seen, they use waterproof Sheetrock (sealed with waterproof tape and mud) behind the shower/tub surround, but I don’t recall any of those being the pre-fab’d ones. Those do have seams though, so I would imagine you don’t want to leave it completely open behind due to the potential for moisture penetration over the years.
Hey I like the way you doing everything my self I am actually building a bathroom as well so I need more tips from you way of doing it but pls not to fast
Its a grate work! I love the finish look! One question: did you had any permit, inspection? I would love to hear how that exchange with the city inspector went. Thanks!
Hey Jeremy, this all depends on where you live. In the U.S., it typically does require a permit and an inspection. You’ll want to check with your city ordinances to get the details. Homeowners can do the work but it’s always good to have a plumber and inspector involved in the process. Best of luck!
Thank you for your response to my shower handle issue. I purchased a new handle from a link on that TH-cam page, at Amazon by BrassCraft SH5815 $15.00. The handle is smaller than I would like. I also just subscribed to your TH-cam channel. Thanks again.
George Lupercio Just the tub, cabinet, and sink cost more then $500.. The plywood is like $60 a piece and I’m guessing he used 5 or 6 pieces so that’s $300 on Just playwood... Depending on the toilet he bought it’s around $100-300. And You still need drywall, Plumbing, electrical... Well over $1000
@@azsa3705 Ouch, plywood must be made out of gold for that price - should cost no more than 30 depending on the material. Electrical isn't that expensive either again - if you do it yourself. I also didn't include the shower, toilet, and vanity because they can range from 50-1000 depending on what you want out of it.
Haha :) - I know it can be expensive. There are always budget/used/discontinued options to keep an eye out for to save tons of money but it adds up one way or another.
LRN2DIY really nice job. I’m going to have to hire a friend who does work like this. I’ll help him of course to help keep cost down $ I haven’t a clue of what I would do unless it’s putting up Sheetrock and vanities, lol. Love to add a small bathroom to my home but I know a contractor company will charge me a fortune.
Total cost for materials was in the neighborhood of $4,000 USD and the measurements of the bathroom are 9’5” x 4’11” (2.87m x 1.5m).
why is it 9'5" deep or long? Seems like it is 8 feet or less.
Just curious.
My dad can buy a car with that money in my country
how did u get the vent fan flush with ceiling drywall??
Great job! Looks awsome

A lot of modern laminate flooring comes with padding already attached to the bottom as is the case here.
Yeah typically it’s prelim drywall thats waterproofed before installing a tub. Never seen a tub fastened to raw wood unless its a dead space wall
Ahhhhhhh you made this look too easy. I totally just mentally committed to DIYing a new bathroom in our next place.

What was the total cost of the bathroom?
Terry Almeida $10,000
So that’s just in materials? Including electric and plumbing?
It’s called 15” on center spacing for toilet from tub and vanity
Joseph Foster 🤙🏾 30” minimum overall
I have some material already but I need more of how to put the bathtub
How much would you say a stand bathroom should cost to create and install? Thank you in advance
I don't have the exact numbers but it was between $4,000 and $6,000 in total.
Thank you.
How much did this whole project cost?
If you do it yourself, material costs won't exceed 500 dollars (not including the pieces you chose) but if you hire someone it can be about 2-3k
