      Always keep a discerning eye when it comes to Western media portrayals of black countries, especially Haiti, a country they have been hating and trying to break for over 2 centuries now. The Western gaze on black lives is never balanced. White media portrayed Africa in a similar way for decades too, so it should be no surprise. That's why it's so important for black people to take control of their own narrative.

    Thanks for visiting Haiti. Cap Haitien is safer than paup (capital).
    Be careful while you're there. Do not stay out late at night, unless you're with a group of people.
    Hotel Satama is the best place to stay; especially for foreigners.

    • @emmalilou7176
      @emmalilou7176 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The right spelling Labadie is very close to how Ghanaians named their beach. Americans came up with the spelling Labadee to make it easier for them to pronounce. A lot of tourists from the US visit this location with Royal Caribbean cruise. By the way, we have a well-known appetizer in Haiti by the name of Accra.

      @@kmacm6529 No, it is not salt fish. Haitian Accra is a native root vegetable mixed with flavorful herbs and spices. Also known as Malanga Fritters. You should Google Haitian Accra then you'll see how it looks like. It's very good. It's crispy and tasty, you can't get enough of it.

    Am half Bahamian and half Jamaican living in the Bahamas 🇧🇸. From i was younger even in school i was defending Haitians from verbal abuse in the Bahamas. My mother is Jamaican so i was defending Jamaicans too from the same. Not all Bahamians dislike Haitians in fact the rastafari community always treat our Haitian sisters and brothers equally. I am a rastafari and we love and respect all black Afrikans at home in the Caribbean and on the continent.

    This is outstanding, African Tigress! A real shocker. We now love you even more. You are walking in a historical place that played a defining role in the history of the Americas as we know it today. Haiti is the second-oldest republic in the western hemisphere (the Americas), after the United States. From Haiti, Simon Bolivar plotted the liberation of most of Latin America nations from Spain.
    Haitians soldiers fought on U.S. soil in the American Revolutionary war and in the US civil war as an ally of the United States after US southern states seceded from the Union.
    In the 60’s, president Duvalier of Haiti sent an army of doctors and school teachers to shore-up the newly independent African-nations of Ivory Coast, Mali, Haute Volta, Chad, Senegal, Congo, Benin, Gabon, Congo (Brazzaville) . A proud nation. With a proud history for the cause of humanity and global peace.
