  • This week on Branching out permaculture with Curtis Hanlon. After my bare root trees sat in the fridge for two week while I was in the hospital it’s time to check them out and get them in pots. Ep165.

Sorry you were hospitalized & so sick with the pneumonia, glad you’re out and on the mend, take care Curtis! 🤗

Why not put them directly in the ground?

they are not big enough to defend against small animals such as rabbits. so i will give them some time to grow before setting them in the ground in the fall this year or next. plus the ground is a bit too hard still here in southern ontario zone 6b. cheers mate good question

@@branchingoutpermaculturewi4766 I have some coming and wondered if I should wait or plant directly into the garden. Zone 4b. Thank for clarifying.

@@HenrikeClement if the ground is thawed enough go for it i only recommend good animal protection.

When you moved mixed soils into pots, drop the pots gently and the soils will settle down better for planting. Something I learned this year myself, it's made a very good difference when potting up all my plants.
Small pots, tap them on a surface 2 or 3 times.
