Moose Rut In Anchorage, Alaska

Chugach State Park is becoming world renown for moose viewing, especially during the fall rut. KTVA photojournalist John Thain tagged along with some experienced wildlife photographers to see what the excitement is all about.

I threw my skateboard into Tudor road in front of traffic headlights and it eventually stopped all lanes so I could pick up my board and walk past as arguably the biggest bull moose I have ever seen, first stalls to slobber and then safely and slowly walks across towards 36th ave.

Humans are just animals, and animals hang out near other animals all the time without it being an issue. Our mere presence is usually not a negative thing. Plus I don't think the moose mind, or they would be beelining it away from the humans
