- Inspired by the kinetic chronographs of the late 90's early 2000's, The New SFJ001 is in a class of its own in terms of looks, design and functionality. For anyone that loves a stopwatch feature in its purest form this 100th of a second solar powered chronograph is a must own for 2023!
The new seiko is insane, like nothing else and this show today will explain why!

This will look amazing on a racing leather strap! Love the review!
Flippin love this channel only found it few days ago now I’m hooked
Cheers Dean!!! So glad you are on board!!!
same man, same. Great and insane content!
I have the special edition, the black one, and it's a stunner. By the way, in chrono mode, you can manually switch to time mode and back to chrono mode by pressing the mode button again, the chronograph will run in the background. At first, I wanted the second hand to work in time mode as you mentioned, but after a while, I love having just the hour/minute shown, different from my other watches.
Love that my friend thank you!
I'd find it difficult to describe just how Jealous of You I am right now!.. :D
I'm going to HAVE to at least TRY to get one of these at some point, I think they're Fantastic.
Likewise. I for the black Budapest one #467. The tenth of a second chronograph hand is literally hypnotic. The 100th of a second one looks like a helicopter blade. Also when it switches to chronograph mode and the dials do that instant spin it always makes me giddy. Only quartz power (solar though so no battery 😊) I own, and somehow one of my favorites.
Love the "what the wife said" segment
It’s bonkers, but I love it! I’m a sucker for tenth of a second sub dial on a chronograph so to have not only tenths but also hundredths of a second on an analog display chronograph is really very cool ⏱️
Fantastic show as always MWC and it’s so cool that Seiko themselves sent you this watch. Great to see such a prestigious brand working with you 🙌
I’m definitely not usually a fan of this type of watch but I imagine people that worked for Darma in the tv show LOST would’ve worn! Makes me think of the little egg chair Will Smith sat in Men and Black and also my gas meter! But it’s so cool!!!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR 😂
Awesome. Thanks for showing us the watch.
I AM SEIKO STOPWATCH READY!
My favorite Seikos are the RAF Gen I and Giugiaro SCED043 but I really like this one and the one that inspired it. Hard not to love Seiko when they come out with stuff like this.
So cool! Thanks for showing us this one Russ 💪🏻
I absolutely LOVE your mini shows about watches. I will continue to watch many videos about watches I am not interested in (and some that I am) for pure entertainment. Thank you for your fantastic work good sir.
Greetings from Texas.
Raymond! You are a gent! Thank you for finding the channel! All the best!
Seiko Kinetic hack: Wrap in a sock & put in your clothes dryer, no heat /fluff. The bouncing will charge the movement for weeks/months
Sweet!
If Daleks wore watches - I’m pretty sure they would like this one
Hahahaha
Also reminds me of the old parking meters you had to feed coins into. Those buttons also make it look like a spanner.
We may have found the new nickname for this: The Seiko Dalek.
It reminds me more the Cybermen actually.
Without seeing your comment I was thinking those pushers are so long they make the watch look like a dalek. Exterminate…exterminate…exterminate. Wish I could fire a death ray out my nose, maybe out of the watch.
I like it, but when the chrono is running I feel like I'm in a plane that's going down... :) Mayday!
Hahahahaha
Very cool looking
I wished there was running seconds for the clock mode.
It just reminds me of a dogs/cats paw and I can't get past that 😵💫
I bought one in the Seiko store. Wasn’t planning on it, but this is a very impressive watch. Bit too expensive but the combination solar and the 1/100 of a second is just different. Also I think this one looks better than the limited edition versions
Love the watch, looks so cool👍👌
Absolutely love this one
awesome watch, love seiko
Seiko Fukushima Panda perhaps. Top work MWC!
Want one!!
I like the intro music for these videos. It's a real mood perk up.
Thank you my friend
I was put off when noticed the second hand wasn't aligned properly, a Seiko trait it seems, ive a 80s Seiko crono and its spot on,and my two later ones are slightly out, so when i wanted a daily watch for work, i got a Citizen titanium eco drive, its spot on 👌. 👍
It’s all aligned my friend just the camera angles from what I can see
That thing is mental! 🤣 Kind of giving me Giugiaro vibes. I really like those 90s designs as well Very cool offering from Seiko.
Very much so !!! It would certainly make my collection look a lot more interesting!
I absolutely love this and sapphire 😮
I don’t have any Seiko watches but soon I will
Honestly love this watch
The missus is bang on yet again!
Great review Russ! That watch is just cool! Definitely not my style (I'm simpleton, I'll freely admit!), but great to see something a little off the wall coming from a big brand. First the 1:1 reissue of the Seiko 5, and now this! Some fun things coming down the line from Seiko these days!
£800! Jesus 😮
He forgives you
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR😂
Wow, I'm glad now that I managed to swerve a Kinetic watch
Yeah i love it. Looks incredible and super unique
Very smart and cool. I can almost hear people saying where’s the date complication.
Reminds me of the motorcycle headlamp clocks, back in the 60s, very sporty
Yes!!!!
mate your so lucky to have the Seiko man on your side i watched your episode about the Seiko rerelease of the SRPK 17
so the very next morning i visited mi ol mucker that has a watch and jewellery shop at 10am he called his contact and
would you believe it they were all sold out and i mean he couldnt get one from anywhere gutted i tell ya a 55th aniversary edition
on my 55 year on this spinning wonder of a planet would of made the year the decade even . i wonder if this one will sell out so fast ?.
keep on ticking mate all the best
Not for me but love that feature where you can 'quickset' the hands. I have an old Gshock ani/digi and the only way to set the time (for summertime adjustment) is to hold the set button and waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. It's painful so yeah, that quickset is great forward thinking. Damn though, that right dial could take someone's eye out if it broke loose 😁
Thank you Mad Watch Collector for reviewing this watch. I saw the social media adds introducing this watch and was immediately intrigued. You have definitely convinced me of adding this watch to my Seiko watch collection. I just recently bought Seiko Prospex SSC813P panda and just wondering do I buy another panda version or mix it up? Hmmmm. 🤔
Thank you for making me laugh...every time 😂😂😂😂😂
Nice watch!
That reminds me, I need to submit my meter readings.
Hahahahahah me to!!!!
I love this chanel... really makes my day..
Love you watching my friend
If I had spare money and spare slot in my too big collection, I will get this one. Just so unique and cool. Thanks MWC
I believe the movement or rather module is unique to this specific line of watches.
I really like this watch. That 100th of a second hand is mental!
Absolutely!!
Absolutely sensational whizzy stopwatch functions. I'm not totally enamoured by the overall design, but it's a fabulous tool. Pricepoint is spot on with a discount code hehe. Great that there's a milled clasp, but pin and collar at that price level? Not so sure. 8 out of 10 for me
... Great review
I like pin and collar actually. It takes the wear of link rotation and isolates it to those replaceable parts.
Here here
My pricey Grand Seiko has pin and collar too. 😁
Looks cool, but really needs a running second hand on the clock dial.. hmmmmm
It looks like the bracelet from the Seiko speed timer SSC 911 I’m looking at mine and it seems identical
If that was made in Japan I'd definitely have one of these.
It's a panda asking for hug!
Very cool watch Russell. I like it.. And even the wife likes it! Bonus!! 😊
FANTASTIC WATCH I THINK SEIKO DID A GREAT JOB ON THIS ONE THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
Thank you my friend!
Is it self charging like the original?
10 years ago Victorinox came out with a 1/100th chronograph that is also a perpetual calendar, and you can switch between the chrono and the time on the fly. It's called the Chrono Classic 1/100th.
Nice looking watch tho Seiko are top of the mass watch co. Love your vids😮
Man your so good at making content .. love the comedy elements too!… click it!!😂
Very kind my friend!
Reminds me of a paw, brilliant 😂
Wife sponsored by Seiko!
Reminds me of my Citizen Promaster SST with the three top subdials. To be honest I prefer that look to the ones here. But interesting nonetheless.
The pushers just scream, "Sputnik!" Too 1957 for me. Although, the dials are "totally rad, dude". Honestly, cool watch, but I cannot handle those pushers. They remind of me Betty-Jane Werkowski's ears back in high school.
Damn. Missed the premiere. Well in any case, as a huge sucker for chronographs, this is nuts. Damn near everything I want and nothing I don’t… no 24hr dial, no date function… just the core chronograph functions I’m looking for.
Though the lack of running seconds is a bit disappointing.
When I get back to. having a proper full time job, this might be one I’ll keep an eye on.
Killer show Sir!
in terms of functionality of the movement, i think comparisons could be made to the Bulova precisionist chronograph, which also has those whizzing hands and times to the 1/1000th of a second
FAN-TAS-TIC! Now I need to start saving.
Gimme that same button layout, but in a a more conventional dial and subdial layout, and we'd have the 7A28 remake I've dreamt of
My first proper watch was a Seiko Kinetic so I have a soft spot for them but sadly I messed mine up. This is pretty nice!
I have kinetic I haven’t worn in 20 years it has stopped what should I do?
@@deepb249 You will need to have the capacitor replaced. If unworn they tend to go since it requires constant charge and a minimum voltage that lowers the longer you don't wear it.. That was the big down side to these watches. A watchmaker should sort it out for you in a heartbeat! Have a great day bud!
Hi Russ. Just discovered your channel and I’m absolutely loving it! I’m looking to buy an automatic field watch and like the look of a Seiko 5, any recommendations? Any thoughts on the SRPJ85 as that seems to be the latest. Thanks, keep up the good work!
Man you are killing me, I just got the SSC813 paid for, then here comes your happy a** showing me this!
That SSC813 is a really nice watch though. 👍
Sorry Mark!
Had a kinetic movement Seiko, mine suffered the same fate as many others with a knackered capacitor. A real shame as it was a great work watch!
Is it just me, or is that bracelet the exact same as on the speed timers (SSC ???)?
It reminds me of Casio. The one with triple 'subdial's.
These are absolutely NOT my cup of tea, but I appreciate their history and that others will enjoy them.
Cheers Mike
I have the Panda. It is super cômfortable and stunning on the wrist. I’ve been collecting Seiko for years and this is a favourite….it is very cool.
Can it only time up to 1 hour?
Does the chrongraph run in the background if you switch back to time mode??
what a Mad watch review. i like Seiko kinetics so much. i have a sportura divers which one of the favourite of my collection... thank you for this excellent présentation of this beauty!!! 😎🤣
Love the look of this, for the money they could have put a nicer bracelet on it, seems the same as my Seitona.. and that second hand should work in time mode.. but it is VERY cool, I will be adding it to the “buy it if it is available on a decent deal” like H Samuels 20% off
My wife and I occasionally skip right to the end so we can hear what your wife says. Then I watch the rest of the video myself. Segment is that good!
Hope you're doing good mate
I hate it when my capacitor goes “kaput-zee” 😂
Not quite bulova precisionist levels. Very cool though.
I have been looking for a seiko panda watch lately. And now You made this video😂 what do You think about ssc769p? It has the second hand ticking all the time and you dont loose hour reading while in chrono mode. Besides that awesome video, awesome channel, love Ya!
What was the mechanical watch you compared it to at the end?
The SRQ035J1! Wow if I’ve gotten that right I’ll be very impressed!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Cheers! Great video🤙
Love this. More importantly though, how's the nursery coming on? Are you now in the cellar or the garage?
It should be nicknamed "Paw print"
They could made the hour hand tells the elapsed hours on Chrono mode, instead of overlapping with the minutes
Hahahahahahaha "science watch"⌚️🧐 Top🔥💯💯💯
Gobsmacked 😮😮😮
Stunning, functional AND sub-1000.
I love the black and white and yellow special edition, but I'm sure that will be a bit dearer.
Cheers my friend!
I’ll wait for the JDM
Is it available in India 🇮🇳?
The Seiko Sputnik
SSC813 vs SFJ001 ??? opinions ? what is the best panda?
I thought the same as the wife.....Looks like a paw 🐾
Maybe you'll make a video on how to use a chronograph and a tachymeter watch. That would be nice 🙂
Thanks for the video
Absolutely!
I had a Citizen Eco-Drive perpetual calendar, dual time, 1/100th second chrono, with that electronic clutch system of adjustment. Great when it works but the adjustment system became intermittent just out of the 5 year warranty, though the watch once adjusted was still working fine.. I believe it's a common problem with this kind of movement. Not going there again but like the watch though.
Thank you for watching! This is a new movement made for this watch my friend. I’m not sure this has common faults yet! But if it does go wrong you take it back!!!??
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR It works in just the same way my friend, and I doubt Seiko have come up with something that Citizen haven't done already. and for a lot less money.
only reason to put this stunner off for the non-functioning second hand while regular time keeping. It's a shame to pass this one as Seiko could've surely added that basic criteria of a watch.
As always, brilliant presentation Russ. Carry on!🙋
Looks really cool but I think it's just too expensive for a solar quartz, no ?
Anyway, this is probably one of the best looking chronograph ever. Seiko really did a good job with this. Daytonas look boring next to this !
Also, your channel is probably the most interesting of them all. Amazing work 😊
Fabrique en Chene oui?
Oooh, I'm rather liking this!
What watch are you wearing during the video? Looks like a blueish gray Casio?? Love your content!
It’s the Gmd s5600 a smaller G-SHOCK square . Look last week for the show!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTORI knew it! I took a screenshot and then went back to watch it!!
