Yes! Me too. I'm the chicken-soup-maker in my world, so I have to have something that is easy for me to make, or can be bought for me if I'm really down for the count.
I’m vegan so I make my sauce from water, soy sauce, mirin, and Yondu a Vegan umami sauce. I serve my tofu with a side of edamame and sliced pickled ginger. Makes for a quick easy meal.
Ive made this dozens of times for my kids and wife. And again tonight. …They just love it and like to listen to your banter as I refresh on the minutia…Thank you for this video.
Agedashi Tofu is one of my favorite dishes EVER!! Found all the ingredients at the local store. The lady who helped me immediately asked what Japanese food I was making. I had to make a second batch as the first one didn't turn out. Second one was awesome.
I can't get over how young Satoshi looks in this video. Wow. Shinichi is like an adult cat: he always looks the same age no matter how many years pass. This is such an excellent video-- well described, no babbling filler, charming and a foolproof recipe for a traditional dish most travellers to Japan will be delighted to be able to replicate at home. Thanks guys!
Dana Seymour I’m excited to make it this way as well. I usually fry mine after I spice with garlic and onion powder and then shake them up in some flour, very savory. I can’t wait to try it this way!
I was looking for something to make for a dinner snack. No one was overly hungry but we needed something and this popped up in my suggestions and I have all the ingredients!
Agedashi tofu for me is the taste of Japan. I remember first having it when I was living there. Just so good. Of all Japanese cuisine, this and miso instantly take me back to living and working in Japan. So good.
This is one of my favorite dishes from a cafe nearby called Yiro Yiro, they put shaved bonito on it and before I eat I always spend a minute watching the slivers of bonito wave around on top of the dish.
Hi guys, I am so glad you are open for suggestions. I have been waiting for your demo on how to make kimchi Japanese style because it won't be as spicy and salty like how the Korean makes them. I think I have asked you before but never received any response about it. Now, more and more people are into Fermentation so it would be nice if Satoshi can show us using one head of Napa cabbage.
Last year I found a Japanese resturant I absolutely loved. The main reason I kept coming back was for the Age Tofu. I have since moved 7 hours away and go everytime I visit (Not often). I love the tofu so much and i've tried recreating it but it's never come out quite right but I thank you so much for your video. It was very entertaining and i'm excited to try it tonight!
OMG thank you for this even years later!! I recently discovered I LOVE Age Tofu, topped with bonito flakes. I love the broth too, and put some extra flakes in there too. I let my tofu soak in it, really grab that flavor. Just omg yum.
Thank you so much for showing how to make easy Japanese foods. You guys really inspired me and I made this dish. It was so yummy and so easy! Thank you.
Ive been looking for this recipe ! I got some tofu like this but served with some kind of clear flakes on top and it was called “Fuji tofu” and I LOVE it so so much! I can’t wait to cook this.
As my partner is vegan, we eat a lot of tofu in our house, and I definitely think I like it deep fried the best. I haven't tried it with potato starch, I usually use a light dusting of rice flour. I'll have to try it your way.
@@giselegi1 In a way, it has been! Usually whenever there is a comment alluding to them being a couple, or gay, they like it and reply! So I think it has been.

Agedashi Tofu is one of my favorite things to eat. One place I order it from serves it in one inch square slices instead of cubes which makes it taste a bit different somehow but it's also delicious. .
Hooray! I've been looking forward to this! Agedashi tofu is one of my favorite dishes. I order it very often when I go out to eat, and I make it at home sometimes also. This looks so yummy, and it is so great to see Laurence in the video! I'm looking forward to seeing him cook with you soon. Thanks for the wonderful video, gentlemen! :-)
Just now came across these guys. Excellent! Our local sushi restaurant makes these and I lovvve them! Sooo happy to come across this now. P.S. the aprons, their humor and helpful tips are just the best, lol.
Vegan is very healthy and happy. I have been vegan for 50 years. I have not seen a doctor at all. I hope that foreign friends will come to Taiwan to eat vegan. I wish you vegan health and happiness. Any wish and good wish can be achieved.
You three are lookin hella sharp in black and white! And Satoshi, your hat looks super good on you! I'm really not a big tofu fan, but you two made it look so good! I would gladly try that recipe any day :D
This reminds me of my favorite way to eat tofu...Tosa Tofu. It looks similar but is covered with bonito flakes that move in the steaming hot dish. It's sooooo good. Please show us how to make some.
I replaced the white radish with little red ones as couldn’t get the proper ones, also used smoked tofu and it was deeelish. Thanks for the recipe gorgeous ones 👩🏻🍳💚
Love this recipe! It looks so easy to make and simple ingredients. These are my favorite recipes because I can make one or two servings and take to work for lunch. So pretty please, bring on more simple recipes! :) Always wonderful to see Lawrence and I can't wait to see him cooking, yay! :) As always, love you guys and keep up the fantastic work!
Just made this and it was delicious! I didn't have any daikon but I put lots of ginger and spring onions so I guess that helped to make up for the missing ingredient! Arigato gosaimasu! This is definitely going to be a go-to recipe for when I am feeling hungry and need to eat soon!
To me, agedashi tofu is my "chicken soup" when I am sick with a cold. Its so comforting & the ginger helps.
that and tofu miso, fixes up everything it seems haha.

*My most favorite tofu dish* I love it, especially with grated daikon garnish.
This is my absolute favourite dish, I always order it, even though dashi isn't vegetarian! I make it at home with konbu dashi in the sauce.
