Love my CH yoke. 22 years old and keeps on going. Springs have mellowed. It feels super smooth and realistic.

I have gameport sticks, a yoke, and some pedals from CH from the early 90s. Through the use of adapters or some USB conversions, they still work flawlessly.

In terms of durability, I've had the same CH yoke for 20 years or so. Not saying the Honeycomb isn't better...it well may be. But I can't complain about my CH yoke.

You just can't kill CH products. When I started playing flight and space games, I actually bought second hand GAMEPORT devices from Ebay for really cheap and either ran them through Rockfire adapters or (when needed) made USB conversions. I absolutely love the form factor of my Virtual Pilot Pro and wished there was a USB version, raced quite a few laps in Redout with it.

I bought a CH yoke off Ebay for $45 total about a year ago. Absolutely love it to this day. I fly several hours per week and this thing never fails. Very durable and feels great in the hands. My only complaint is the mounting system and believe me, it sucks. I'm surprised there isn't an aftermarket mount.

Thanks for the measurements of the Honeycomb yoke. Would you please tell me how far back the clamps extend underneath the desk? On my desk there is a support frame 3 inches from the front edge of the desk. Is that enough space for the clamps?

  • @airste172

Just get a bottle of automotive STP Oil Treatment, apply it to the shaft of the CH yoke and watch it be transformed into a super smooth yoke. The CH yoke already has all the necessary levers and buttons to fly unlike the Honeycomb which has buttons and knobs mostly for entertainment and only secondary to the operation of an aircraft (they want to sell their throttle quadrant to you).
Aesthetically, the Honeycomb is very nice, but the ridiculous amount of spring tension in the elevator axis is very unrealistic in all but the most rare of instances in real flight.
I have a CH yoke and thought I'd be buying a Honeycomb as soon as it became available, but a friend beat me to it and I got a chance to try his. Overall, I'm not impressed with the functionality especially since Honeycomb has a cool throttle quadrant that would be great for some people but doesn't do anything for me since I fly a Cessna and that isn't being represented.

As someone who has had both yokes (I took delivery of my Honeycomb yoke on the 15th October 2019), the Honeycomb leaves the CH yoke for dead.

I notice you have a switch panel attached to your desk. I own the honeycomb and it has a switch panel already but I was thinking of getting a switch panel because it has a landing gear on it but would that be overkill due to the honeycomb already have switches (just not landing gear) ........I'm guessing you already possessed the switch / ignition panel BEFORE you purchased the Alpha Controls Honeycomb Flight Yoke and ended up with two switch panels ? I would like to hold out for the Bravo Throttle Quadrant but it's going to be several months before they become available and I would like to get a landing gear knob sooner .... i'm torn on what to do... i know the bravo is going to take up quite a bit of desk-space too but man it's got a lot of features like landing gear , trim tabs and switches. any help is appreciated and thanks for your video...subscribed!!!

Don't know why you didn't include the Logitech yoke in the review. The CH looks ok, with an unrealistic toddler throttle quadrant build it, but if you can't afford anything better, its a better option than a joystick. I'm sure it was the best available when it came out 20+ yrs ago. CH for low budget, Logitech for mid range, Honeycomb for upper mid range, and Yoko ($1000) for those with deep pockets with feel and performance increasing at each level.

Хатико I recommend waiting to get the honeycomb throttle quadrant. It comes with a autopilot dash thing, a gear down and up switch, a trim wheel, flaps, spoilers and around 7 other customizable buttons. It is going to be the same price as this yoke $250. There are a couple different variants the 737 dual engine variant so 2 throttle controls both with reverse thrust switch, 747 quad engine all have reverse thrust and 2 other variants with dual engine with mixture and a single engine with mixture as well. However it’s not released yet but it will release in the next couple of months. I recommend waiting for this throttle because of everything that is available and on it.

I hate the look of CH yoke. yoke and buttons have so fisher price look ! Honeycomb details are 20 times better. If you"re going to buy a yoke it's because you want to feel as much as possible like you are in a real plane ! But of course the later yokes are technologically more advanced than they were ten years ago.

Dude, it’s hurts my eyes just watching those CH rudder pedals. When you have the opportunity, get yourself the Crosswind rudder pedals. They are waaay better. I had the CH pedals and when I made the switch to the crosswind I couldn’t believe I waited so long.

Correction - Honeycomb doesn't have springs. They use 'bands' which is why it feels so strange. I tried it at my local aviation shop today and I was not sold. By comparison, I'm more than happy in using my CH yoke. This yoke doesn't feel consistent....the roll axis feels utterly different than pitch in tension and travel. It's not great. With springs, CH lasts a lifetime. I remember that Honeycomb allows you to reorder replacement bands.
