The midges would drive me insane, that sort of thing is my pet hate in the summer, nothing worse than tiny flies everywhere. The Heather looked lovely, that is the sort of thing we are after for our place for growing up the banks. No consideration blocking that pathway off for harvesting. Good thumbnail.
They drive me insane, believe me. They're gross, but probably not as gross as ticks! They are the worst thing ever.🤮 The heather was beautiful and so much of it too. It would look great on the banks at your house. Although if you end up having bluebells, then they will look really amazing. Think they flower early May so not long to wait to see if you have any.
hiya folks, nice, beautiful day, like the pictures in the van. Nice layby. Nice to meet folks while on the road. Nice rain fall there. 🌦☔⛈🎐🎐🎐keep the vlogs coming.
Cracking place, like your pictures, good them. Two and a half- ish months to go until there back and biting everything that moves, the wee barstools. Stay well and safe travels. All the best. 👍🐾🚐🐾🕯️😎
I was planning on coming up solo early May, so I'm hoping I'll be safe from the little bloodsuckers! Can't do it any earlier unfortunately. The pictures are great, well they're actually cards. Loved the wildlife and the scenery so they were perfect. We'd have never discovered Glentrool if we'd have not gone to Port Logan. Strange where we get inspiration from to visit places.
Nice to meet subscribers. It’s so hard sleeping in the wind and rain. Good old Betty! Like the postcards. Beautiful walk. Love the heathers. Useful having long hair 🤣. Waterfall was nice. I always used to get attacked until I had a transplant. They don’t like my blood anymore 🤣. We are not keen on them at all! Little blighters 😉
It's a really beautiful place and I think you'd both really enjoy it there, more so in the winter months. It's stunning around the loch and we will be back. It's good to visit places at different times of year I think, we'd have never seen the heather in the winter. But the midges are just vampires lol. Wish they didn't love me!😭
Aww what a shame about the path being closed. Oh Helen, I’m the same as you, the midgies love me & I react by coming out in huge lumps, not a pretty sight! Lovely walk with the waterfalls. Hope you get to return soon. Em 💜 x
We were so disappointed, but will hopefully be back soon enough. Yep, they are horrible things and I get big lumps too. Sorry to hear you're like it too. Not good.😢
What a beautiful spot that Nookie had for his last adventure, I can’t see why he enjoyed it . Sad that the path was closed off . You both seem to attract those blooming midges ( bad luck) nice to hear you having a laugh . Byyyeeee 🚐👍
What a beautiful spot, Helen what time of year is worse for midges, we plan to be in Scotland from late June, good to know they are attracted to black,..safe travels you three 👊👍🚌🇬🇧🥰
It was lovely to see you here in Glentrool. I'm so sorry about the loch trool trail being closed. It was closed for a long time, but I'm happy to say it's open now, minus many trees, of course. Although it does open up new views. We walked around it just a week ago, and it was lovely. If you want to avoid those pesky midges, you're best to come back before may. And if you do come back, you'd be very welcome to drop in on us in the village for a cuppa. Safe travels 😊
Aw, that's a very kind thing to say Jayne and we may just take you up on that offer! We do normally avoid Scotland in the Summer to be honest, but it was spur of the moment when we went. We will definitely be returning, it's a beautiful place with happy memories for us.😊
Lovely scenery there Helen, and loving the purple heathers. Believe it or not i liked those cards. Def need a midgy zapper or a net type hat 😂. Shame about the closed path. So annoying xx
It definitely was annoying but we shall return, it's beautiful there. The pictures are cool, unlike a Midge net would be on my head! But then the spotty face look ain't great either!😁
Love your framed pictures! 😍. The art work I tend to put on my walls is meaningful too....lots of memories. Midges especially at Glentrool are claymore wielding beasties ... especially ferocious 😈
Lol, you're right about the midges, little feckers they are! We had to get the pictures when we saw them, and they remind me of our time at Port Logan with Nanook and the other places too. Happy memories with a beautiful pooch.💜 Wolfie is beautiful too though. He's a very cute dog.😍
Oh those midges!!! We had them in Glencoe and hubby was hoovering them up in the van with a hand held vacumn cleaner!! He went to bed with it!! Lol!!! sorry you couldn't do Nookies ashes, I felt sad for you. So hard. Hopefully you will do them next time xxx
That's so funny as that's what Karl does, he vacs them up with the hand held lol. We were so disappointed about the footpath, but it's open again now, so we'll go back later in the year. It's a beautiful walk around the Loch too and Nanook did love it there. We love Wolfie, but we still miss Nookie Monster. But Wolfie is a little ray of sunshine.
Hi both. Good video 👍 as for midges finally after years of visits found the solution. Last year ordered 2 really fine midge hoods before we left. What a brilliant investment 4 weeks all around Scotland never even took them out of the packaging or saw a midge. Worked even better than we expected 😂😂 ATB
Ha ha ha, I like it!😂 Might have to try that one.😁 We normally avoid midgy season but because it was a spur of the moment visit, we didn't think about the midges unfortunately.
Saw you were back in Glentrool in January, and the weather was stunning while you were there, I was wondering if you were leaving a bit of Nanook with us, I remember watching your visit last year and how he enjoyed his walk at the time ❤
I wasn't there in January, Karl went to Scotland on his own as I didn't want to travel that far with family stuff going on, incase I was needed. But we definitely plan to go back and leave a piece of Nanooks spirit there. Karl didn't do it in January as it's a place we want to do together as it holds special memories. It's so wonderful that you remember how happy Nookie was there. We will be doing his ashes at the viewpoint he found on our walk, where you can see the other half of the Loch. It's a beautiful and magical place that is definitely close to our hearts now.
I would visit up til early May or later in September if you want to avoid those midgies 😊Loch Trool is a special place for sure, did you walk up to Bruce’s stone for the view it is stunning. Will keep an eye out for Raymond and hope that your next visit is a better one. There is a possibility that the loch may close again at some point so check the Foresty and land website before you visit again. Also Hope lovely Wolfie is settling in and making you both smile ❤
@@skh2263 we were meant to be in Scotland last week but we've had stuff going on so not been able to leave. Hoping to leave Sunday for 10 days so we could maybe get up there then. Karl walked all around the Loch when he was there in January and really enjoyed it. It's a stunning place. I can't get to do a solo trip til early May as it's when Karl is venturing off on his motorbike, so I'm hoping the midges won't be too fiesty!! Wolfie is such a lovely dog, he really is. Nanook is still missed and I still cry and get upset at how quickly he was taken from us, but Wolfie certainly does make us smile. He was definitely sent to us by Nookie Monater, that's for sure.
Hope the path is open next time you go. We’ve got our doggie’s ashes back now and will be thinking about where to scatter her when the time is right. Have the midges started early or are they always about?! X
No, it was filmed at the end of Summer, so they were busy unfortunately. Aw Louise, I bet that was so emotional getting the ashes back❤️ It was for us. You will think of somewhere special, I'm sure. My old dog Doro's ashes got planted with a rose bush called "Remember Me" It smelled absolutely beautiful.😊
Thank you both, yes it was emotional getting her back. We miss her so much. That’s a lovely idea with the rose bush. I think we’ll avoid the end of summer then if we ever get up to Scotland! X
@louisesymonds9963 definitely. It's a busy time in the Highlands then for certain anyway, and the midges are busy too! We did Arran in July and that was OK though surprisingly. It is a very emotional time when you get the ashes back. We would have Nooks ashes sat on his sofa when we were parked up, but now Wolfie is there we can't. I'd pretend he was still there every night too at bedtime and shut my eyes, pretending to rub his belly and his fluffy main as I called it. It's what I'd do before I got in bed every night when he was still here, so I'd imagine he still was. But that stopped too with Wolfie. Although Wolfie has started sleeping on the bed and we always say it's cos Nanook comes back at night and kicks Wolfie off his sofa lol. A lovely rose bush is a great remembrance.🥰
Oh bless you. Our routine and lives revolve around them. I’ve found evenings really difficult as we had a little routine and to just stop is really hard. I also picture her on the rug and have found myself still talking to her! Hopefully your lovely Wolfie will make life complete again and help with the loss of Nookie monster. X
Great video I'm hoping to do Scotland this year I really don't want to be a mige burger I just no they would love me when's the best time to go Helen? Take care my lovelys❤😁
Lovely woodlands but shame you couldn’t get to where you wanted to go ….. Could be a new look in midge wear 😂 Waterfall was a bit if a find … You need my famous 4000v bat in the van it keeps me entertained…
Yes, definitely a shame we couldn't get round the Loch cos it's stunning, and Nookie found the viewpoint there which is where we want to do his ashes. So we shall return!😁 Waterfall was great except for the midges! It was their hangout place unfortunately.🙁
Yes definitely. I'm still catching up too. We finally got out on the road again, it's been one thing after another delaying us so not much chance of Scotland now.😢 But I should be up that way in the campervan early May. We stayed at Ribblehead last night and had no reception whatsoever.
