  • American mercenaries, hired by the UAE to kill in Yemen, have spoken candidly on camera for the first time in an investigation by BBC Arabic.
At a time when Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping have highlighted the international dimensions of the Yemeni conflict, the investigation also reveals how US mercenaries trained Emirati officers to kill the UAE’s political enemies in Yemen.
These extra-judicial killings, conducted in the name of counter-terrorism, started in 2015 and continue to this day.

As a citizen of Yemen, I reside in the country and have traveled extensively from east to west. I strongly detest and fear Al-Qaeda more than any other entity on this planet. However, I have never personally encountered or been aware of any presence of Al-Qaeda on the ground in Yemen. My only knowledge of them has been through media reports. When I heard a mercenary claim in a documentary that "Al-Qaeda is in every corner in Yemen," I laughed loudly, as it seemed to me to be an exaggerated attempt by a liar or mercenary to portray themselves as a hero under the spotlight of media attention.

It is eye opening for the mercenary to say "...if my handlers give me the intelligence...who am I to question, I'm a soldier..."; and then seconds later refer to his UAE handlers as simply "the client". In other words, he openly admitted that he was being paid to do a hit for "the client", in exactly the same way as a hitman would be paid to commit murder, no difference.
If I was one of the "clients" who paid these guys to make people disappear, I would be getting at least a little nervous seeing that they are bragging to everyone about their handiwork ON NATIONAL TELEVISON. I imagine I would probably be starting to feel a pressing need to make some urgent phone calls... in order to tie up some loose ends.

The influence of the UAE extends across the region, stretching from Yemen to Libya. The primary concern is not simply the UAE's status as a key ally to the US and UK, but rather the perpetration of illegal activities with tacit approval from the US. It is apparent that the US often invokes the banner of human rights for strategic political reasons rather than a genuine concern for human rights.

Still, one important difference is that they don't have the same benefits as soldiers if they are ever captured, and lack legal protection, and even worse, their movements, actions and judgements are based on individual beliefs rather than tactical or strategic objectives, there is still a very significant difference between a contract soldier and a merc.

The woman whose son was shot, said that people saw counter-terrorism people, but there wasn't any evidence presented and eye-witness statements don't really mean a whole lot tbh.
No evidence really presented at all, just lots of speculation and suspicion of targetted attacks.

Dale Comstock- even though he puts on a 80s tough guy persona is totally legit, serving 10 years on Delta Force and later for the CIA as a paramilitary operative- he even developed the special forces combatives manual.

Nobody in the operator community refers to CAG as Delta unless they're a washout trying to impress a civilian. It's simply the Unit, or occasionally Team Green (for Task Force Green) which is a JSOC designation and would typically only be used in that context. Second, I was not referring to the couple of former operators they interviewed; I was referring to the douchebags they "train" and hire. I've had to deal with those half-trained idiots more than a few times in Djibouti and Afghanistan. They're dangerous because they "think" they know what they're doing. As for SAD, it hasn't been called that for almost 10 years. It's been Special Activities Center since like 2014 or 2015. And disclosing details about service within either the Special Operations Group or the Politial Actions Group would be a breach of their NDAs and would likely land them in jail. Anyways, I'm not here to argue, I just don't want people who see this to think that these guys are representative of the extremely professional individuals who serve in these organizations. @@ajc5930
