I don't want a saltwater tank, but I still watch because Mark has become my go to guy for solid information and I want to support him!

He's also a better cinematographer than most other one man operations. Much better.

We've all been pacing up and down the corridor outside the Delivery Room.
Just popping outside now to spark up a celebratory cigar.

I'm sure you are quite capable. Im not questioning that. However, if it were my tank, I'd yank that return pump out. Keep the riser tube connected of the return line. Drill a hole in the tube, and run an airspace down it. Lots more oxygen exchange, and a much more gentle draw through the filter.

I wish these came in a freshwater species. 💛 I'd love something as spectacular but only run Blackwater tanks.
Have you attempted to breed otocinclus? I have four plump females, three males, plenty of broad leaf plants and none of them are falling in love... so to speak. I watched a video of them being caught in the wild. The thing that I'm missing is the thick green water.... I believe.

The red weed looks like a type of Geldium. I only know of from tropical reefs, so it may be something entirely different, being this is temperate. But, that should be a good starting point to do a little research.
