    The great thing about these YES covers by this band (and I’ve watched them all) is that their measure of success is not all about how well the singer can or cannot pretend to be Jon Anderson. She’s not pretending, she doesn’t need to, the whole band has everything nailed anyway and with their own vital musical energy. Stunningly good! Respect to all of you!

    • @keithwilliams8342
      @keithwilliams8342 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Agreed. They are the best so far. The worst is when people try to cover bands and fall short. Band geeks have a VERY high standard. And we all benefit from that standard. Sure. Nobody can be bill, or rick. But the synergy pulls the performance through the gap such that even purists like myself are greatful for their efforts. And i think the vocals are excellent!

      Her voice is just so bad though it really does ruin these covers, it would sound better if it wasn’t Disney princess Yes , corny ass voice

    • @bobsbigboy_
      @bobsbigboy_ 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      one valid criticism tho: she completely misses the same passion and urgency of Jon Anderson

    • @waynemyers2469
      @waynemyers2469 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @waltzsofa1602 How come nobody can just say it: Anderson sang like a girl...that's why the young lady can do it so effortlessly, she kind of just sings.
      Anyway, you guys are really a revelation for someone like me, I'm 70 years old and sometimes I feel irrelevant and, well, old. My clothes are old and my knees are old and my prostate has graduated from being something I couldn't have pointed to on an anatomical chart when I was 25 to something that comes to my attention twice a night, around 1:00 A.M. and again at 5:00. But here's the real problem: My music seems like it gets up and goes to the bathroom with me and that just ain't right. There's an album called "The Caretaker", It was written and performed by a guy who wanted folks to know what it might feel like to have alzheimers: It starts out sounding like the music my father listened to but ended (the album was around 3 hours long) up sounding like someone kicked a piano down a mountainside

    • @waynemyers2469
      @waynemyers2469 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Listen, this is how old I am, I didn't even know I'd posted this comment, that's why it ended so abruptly and we were left falling down a mountain with a piano crashing along beside us...I am your stereotypical "tech-moron".
      Anyway, you and I are allowed to differ in our opinions and in the end you're probably closer to the truth than I am even though, if you reread your comment, you'll realize that you kind of contradicted yourself. Anyway, I'm sure we both agree that this band is friggin' amazing and I'm going to check out their other covers right now.
      (While I have your attention, let me ask a question: Was Geddy Lee in a different band a couple years before Rush? I ask because I'd heard a band once who had a singer with EXACTLY the same voice as Mr. Lee, I can't even remember the name of the band but I do recall the name of the song he sang, it was called Natchez Trace...do you know who that might have been? Be gentle with your answer, I may be suffering from a slight touch of Dementia and it wouldn't be nice to mess with a guy in my condition.) 😉
      *I had to come back and confess something: In my concerning and swiftly advancing "brain-fog" I got mixed-up about who we were discussing, I asked you a question about Rush while this song is by YES. I am a knuckle-head, sorry.
      Peace.

    I've now watched this video about 20 times. This is actually BETTER than the recorded live versions by YES. Andy totally nails the drum parts so damn well, but more important, he plays them CORRECTLY. This song, and so many of the early YES songs are VERY much dependent on Bruford's jazz style to make them just "that much more special". White has his straight-up interpretations of the early stuff, but there are some songs that need the jazzy rhythms to back it all up. Even when the jazziness is ghosting, it's still there, and by gum, we can hear it, and will tell you how important it is. The jam at end is so much fun. What an wonderful gang of A+++ musicians!!!

    As a guitarist myself, one of the complaints I have about anyone covering a song is lack of attack or energy and commitment to the sound. Richie, you do not hold back and are amazingly fluid. Mucho kudos. Also like the heavy metal crunch. Nice touch.

    I've now watched a few of this 'collective's' astonishing work. They seem to change instrument with no effort - are as brilliant on each one and draft in new equally magnificent players at will. What have I been missing for the last 2 years? Congratulations to everyone. Just one more thing: the electronic drums sound superb, yet not many bands seem to use them.

      Andy only uses electronic drums when in this confined space.....a full kit would be overpowering

    I have always been blown away by how awesome Yes music is and how talented you have to be to play any of the parts. Great job, it takes a great group of folks to play the most interesting electronic music ever made in my humble opinion.

    Not bad kids, almost exactly like yes. I'm 62 was 9 when the fragile album came out. 2 years later ( Xmas 71) I got my first bass ( thanks mama) never looked back I learned roundabout at 12 years old. I dig you're bass player. Nails Chris squire damn near perfection. I love yes but my fave are the Holy Trinity RUSH.geddy is insane. All the guys in yes are music school grads rush was neighborhood kids that started a band & became the GREATEST band of all time. No disrespect intended.

    Because the other songs (Roundabout, Heart Of The Sunrise, etc.) on Fragile were so great, this tune kid of got lost in the wash. Nevertheless, it remains my second favorite Yessong of all time. You did a wonderful job of capturing the atmosphere of Mallory-like desperation the original piece has...Outstanding...Siberian Khatru PLEASE!...

    one of my favorite songs of all time, this is holy ground you are treading but i can tell you that i was wiping tears from my eyes within the first minute and it only got worse from there. maybe im emotionally unhinged or maybe this is so good that the intensity of it was too much. every member of this band was so onpoint but especially recreating some of the insane steve howe leads and noodling blew my mind and your vocalist is A+++. thank you so much for sharing this.

    If someone asked me about a difficult song to cover, this one would be among my top five. As a matter of fact, before I witnessed this I wouldn't have believed someone could nail it this way.
    Not only it is bloody perfect, but also the singer doesn't try to imitate Jon Anderson, and that, in my opinion, is a great decision.
    The only regret I have is that I can not see/hear these fellas live in concert.
