    I love seeing all the Sandhill cranes.
    I was a chimney sweep up around Traverse City Michigan for 21 years.
    I think it was 2019, a year before I retired, I was up at lake Bellaire and had just pulled into a small park on the lake after my last job of the day. There were light flakes of snow in the air. I witnessed a very large flock of Sandhill cranes lift off the lake and fly up into corkscrew pattern through an opening in the clouds and dissapear. For that large of a flock to fly so high they dissapear is amazing. I guess they fly up to 26,000 feet in the Himalayas to cross them. God's creation is so marvelous. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels.

    That was you!
    I drove by your location on sunset campground in Death Valley on March 1st, Wednesday. I said to my wife that looks like Ray, but didn’t see your starlink dish. Wish I had dropped in to meet you.
    Making our way home slowly to canada.
    Love the channel.

      Yup! Dish was on the ground behind the trailer so it didn't blow off the roof. :)

    You guys always have good content. BTW the motor home that passes the bike did so on a yellow line. It was actually a double yellow. That’s a big no.

      We are in Andalusia, Spain, actually we have been, moved from Malaga all the way down to Gibraltar and back up Isla Plana, Puerto Mazarron area, that's much closer to Sierra de Tabernas desert and right at Spains 'Costa Calida', the 'Hot Coast' and it definitive is. Day 14 to 15 deg Celsius max, night 5 to 6, it should long be much warmer by now. And way more windy - as a matter of fact stormy! - days than ever.

    Thanks Ray for keeping the videos coming. When exactly is the bird activity in Cibola? Is that a migratory thing? Thankyou

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some migrating and some use it for a winter roost I think. Like the geese they seem to spend months there. The fields are cut and left for the birds to feed on the leftovers. Here is a good overview of the birds www.audubon.org/important-bird-areas/cibola-national-wildlife-refuge

    Great summary Ray! The other nit we have against the main Furnace Creek campground is how busy it gets, especially on the weekends. Lots of people, loud music, commotion, etc. Looks like the spot you found halfway up the hill was a great alternative. Have you ever tried the “pads” out east of the park? It is far and away our favorite place to dry camp when visiting DV!

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, great spot but cold front was rolling through with cold temps and big winds, so decided to camp in the valley until it warms up, temps are still quite cool here highs only in the 60s maybe low 70s for the next little while. The Pads are up at about 3000 feet so colder up there so likely move up once the valley gets back into the 80s.

      @@LoveYourRV OH! I just saw this after my comment. Yes, it's been a very weird season all over. We are currently hunkered down in AZ before heading back to snowy Colorado.

    Whats the senior pass? Thanks

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a National Parks and Federal lands access pass. There is one specifically for US seniors aged 62 and over. Check the info here www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm
      Senior Pass
      Cost:
      $80 Lifetime Senior Pass
      $20 Annual Senior Pass
      Available for: US citizens or permanent residents ages 62 or over. Applicants must provide documentation of age and residency or citizenship.
      How to purchase:
      In person: Find a location to purchase this pass at a federal recreation site.
      Online: Order the lifetime pass or the annual pass from the USGS Online Store.
      NOTE: Processing and shipping fees will be charged for online orders.
      Additional Information:
      Find detailed information about this pass on the USGS Store's Senior Lifetime Pass, Senior Annual Pass, and Frequently Asked Questions webpages.
      The Senior Pass may provide a 50 percent discount on some amenity fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch, and specialized interpretive services.
      The Senior Pass generally does NOT cover or reduce special recreation permit fees or fees charged by concessioners.
      Golden Age Passports are no longer sold. However, these passes are still honored according to the provisions of the pass.
      Passes may not be purchased as gifts since eligible recipient must show proof of eligibility.

      So, I am Canadian, we
      cannot get this pass.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, only US citizens can get the senior pass. International like you and I can get the Annual pass for $80. It gives free access to visit many places, and some can get 1/2 price camping example: www.blm.gov/visit/virgin-river-canyon-recreation-area but not as many camping places as the Seniors Pass. We buy it yearly as we like visiting National parks and monuments and BLM camping.

    Love your video, Ray. You went right by "the pads" free camping on the way to Death Valley. Its about 4 miles or so outside the east entrance on hwy 190. (36.3382931,-116.6042521,16.73). There are several cement pads on what used to be an old mining operation. There were about 6 other RVs camped there when we went. They are fairly spread apart so it's quiet and private and actaully more scenic. Convenient to the park.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, passed by on the way in, not many people were there just a few rigs. Still a little chilly up there right now compared to down in the valley. Even the valley is forecast only to be in the 60s to low 70s this coming week! Way below normal for this time of year. Gonna head up once the weather warms up to more seasonal temps. Its at 3000 feet so around 15 degrees colder especially at night and at the crest of the valley so winds blow a bit harder. Cheers, Ray
