- An in-depth look at the Kiaweets Rechargeable Smart Digital Multimeter model KM601s. I go through all the features and demonstrate the various functions. At the end of the video, I give my review. Overall, it's not a bad deal for the features and would serve the average DIY RVer well. The big drawback for me is the display is difficult to read in bright lighting and terrible in the sun.
Favorite Features:
Smart Auto Detection of AC/DC Voltage, Resistance, and Continuity Measurement.
Auto Ranging
Temperature Measurement
Rechargeable Battery
Compact Size but Big Screen

Lol. I have a cheapo multimeter that has similar probes. In the years I've owned it, I never once suspected the probes had removable shields. Learn something new every day.
Now to watch the rest of your review...
I’ve had one of these for a little over a year. It’s not my main unit, but one I carry in my travel trailer. Over all, I’m very happy with the unit. For the price, the feature list is impressive, and the results are always very close to my fluke.
Instead of listing the good, I’m going to just list the negatives because I’m feeling lazy today.
1. Proprietary power cord. Couldn’t they just made it USB to USB?
2. Screen just doesn’t cut it outdoors, glare makes it unreadable indoors sometimes.
3. Like all small meters like this, it takes quite an awhile to check motor capacitors. The one start capacitor I tested on it took almost three minutes.
All in all, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to someone as long as they understood the shortcomings. A different display and charge cord and this would be a super value.
Thanks for the long term feedback!
Nice review, thank you !
You're welcome! Are you heading south this winter?
@@LoveYourRV Yess, Already arrived, I have been in Florida since beginning of November, an RV Park right by the ocean across Melbourne. Working on my trailer and getting some sun sunrises , moon rises on the ocean, sunsets on the river. Dreaming of going West and maybe cross you and Anne's path again :-0) . I am working on putting in a the new Alpha BCDC charger from Redarc that can sustain dirt, humidity, water and cold weather. I will install it on the outside's battery box of the Airstream, possibly along with 2 new BB heated batteries bluetooth it will be an experiment to see how it all does for real on the outside! Safe travels and wishing you and Anne a very merry Christmas and happy New Year!! Health and good energy to continue doing what you both love. Cheers, Julie.
You can check calibration using water with a lot of ice in it while swirling it around.
Should read 0°C/32°F
I usually use a Klein or Fluke but bought a Kaiweets Clamp meter after your repair job a couple of years ago. It's still works great. Cost a lot less than my others. This one has a lot of features that my old school ones do not. Eliminates a lot of setting errors.
The main thing I always used the thermocouple for is measuring the evaporator and condenser coils on air conditioners to see what the temp. differential is.
