+Gothamista this is a throwback for you but, from this video I am starting my skin care list. However, your products are to high end which a broke college student like me cannot afford. If you know any great alternative please help me.
+R Pendragon there is no alternative. your skin is something you should invest in. most cheap products have a lot of perfume and other shit in them. try to save money even if you need a lot of time and make your skin great
R Pendragon Check out memebox.com it's a site where you can buy Korean skin care. The prices are really affordable, I bought my entire multi step routine from there. Great place for beginners
Such intelligent videos. I love your work! Keep sharing. I still have to find out how to go through so many steps in a morning routine when you're hurrying to go to work. Almost impossible.
I really like your videos! I think they are very honest and straightforward without any hidden agendas. I hope you keep making more and stay true to your passion.
Very thorough explanation of how and why for choosing and using the products - thank you! I learned that I was applying my hydrating essence at the incorrect time and I realized that I need to give certain products more time to absorb before the next step.
+Diane Milligan Thank you! Yes, I only really allow serum and sunscreen to absorb before applying makeup. I don't have the patience or time for everything else to fully absorb - although one really should let each step sink in for a few mins.
It’s been three days since I started following this and the evening routines and my skin looks amazing!!! Thank you so, so much for sharing all your knowledge! I’m becoming obsessed with your channel and Asian skincare products!!!! 🙏🏼
I am a new subbie also. I'm 50 years old and am realizing now how much the Asian skin care market has to offer and how ahead it is compared to our North American market. You are quite beautiful and your skin looks amazing. It is a rainy day here in Northern BC, Canada so I will be watching a marathon of your videos and placing some orders for some of your recommendations. I've just ordered the Missha essense from Amazon. Can't wait! Thank you very much for your expertise.
This video was really useful! I'm finally starting to look into preparing myself a proper skincare routine, and your video helped me lots! Also this is random, but your voice is really soothing and nice to listen to hehe!! Have an amazing day and thank you for making this video!
+pingu1098 Haha! Thank, you! I'm sure the people around me who have to listen to me yap all day will disagree! Glad this was helpful, have a great weekend!
Thank you so much for your channel! I'm a multi-step skincare beginner and the information you provide is really helpful in making sense of everything! :-)
I have decided that your channel has fast becoming my favorite to watch! I find that your taste in both makeup and your skincare approach (and also the products used) is very similar to my own, it's almost like looking into a mirror and seeing a beautiful Asian version of myself :) My current skincare routine consists out of mostly the same products that you use (I do alternate a lot between different brands to keep it fun, somehow I'm always on the hunt for the next best thing) but have my staples that I won't forgo (skinceuticals, hada labo, su:m37, bha's and many, many more). I also love to add a facial oil into my routine as I too have dry and dehydrated skin (especially since introducing retinA to the mix) . I recently picked up a pack of 100 facial sheets for diy masking and like to play around with these soaking them in whatever goodness I can get my hands on, so fun!
+StyleMePretty1 We are product-soul-sisters! How happy your comment makes me! I did EXACTLY the same thing with the facial sheets and had so much fun, too! I made some concoctions with aloe, hyaluronic and even soaked them in different teas and soda water! Do share with me what you come up with and have fun getting creative!
I stumbled upon your videos and have spent the past few hours binge watching your channel and absolutely love them! I found this one particularly useful. Would you consider creating videos on your nighttime routine as well as your make up regimen? Super helpful information, thank you!
+mimilovespierogies Thank you, so much for watching! That makes me so happy! Actually, my nighttime routine is in the works, it will most likely be next weeks video so stay tuned :) I will definitely consider a make up regimen video - I've hesitated because I love make-up but certainly am no MUA. I would love to share my own little routine though. Thank you for your great suggestions, pls keep them coming! Btw, I love pierogies.
I am so thrilled that I found your channel, my skin type is nearly identical to yours and my skin responds so well to Asian skincare, really appreciate your great tips, excited to try new quality products! :-)
Love this! Thanks for showing the routine step by step and providing all the product names! Also loved your Asian skincare haul video. It was very informative!! :) newly subscribed!
Can u layer undereye serums with the Hada Labo skin plumping gel and the moisturizer? I use things like Maelove, the ordinary caffeine solution, and biossance squalene and peptide gel. I have an oily t zone and dry under the eyes. Your skin is to die for!!😍
I just recently discovered your channel and I just wanted to let you know that I love your videos! I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers.. But you really know your stuff, all your videos are so informative and I have learned so much already. Thank you 😊💕
You are so bubbly and sparkly in this video!!! It was really nice to watch :) plus your skin is amazing!!!! I think many people are jealous of it :) Thumbs up for sure even if I could have listen to you talk about the products (when to use what and EU vs Asia ...) and the routine itself :) Have a great end of the week !
bluecupcakefish Thank you, Luv! You've made me happy! I talk a lot about my favourite skincare products in my videos, I wanted to keep it focused on just my routine - but I will do a more in-depth video of my holy grail skincare products that I use soon! Have a great end of week, too!
I love your channel!!! What I do with my eye creams I leave them in the refrigerator.... the cold creams feel amazing on my eyes. I helps with puffyness
So glad I found your channel....i am in my 50's but have the sensitive dry skin you talk about. You are the most knowledgeable guru i have come across. I just bough May Coop Raw Sauce and hope i can use it. My problem is I wake up with dry flaky skin everyday...So frustrating. Thank you for all the information in your videos!!!
Hello Renee! I've watched a lot of your videos. And I've learned so much! I purchased the ordinary products based off your recommendations and have been loving them. I also bought that exact hyaluronic acid you used and a sunscreen from your sunscreen video. Your skincare routine videos like this have been very helpful. Thank you! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Your skin looks amazing, and your routine seems not only good for your face but also your spirits! I never knew exactly what toner is for - now I know, so thank you! Can you tell me how/where to get the Japanese and Korean products?
Hi Renee, i just subscribe to your channel. I am in love with your videos now. It is very detail and clear. Your are very knowledgable in what you are talking about. I have been washing my face in the morning with a cleanser and felt like my skin got dry even more. I will try to wash with water only and see if it will improve or not. Btw, you have very beautiful skin.
i have a question. i just ordered the hado labo arbutin medicinal whitenening toner and was wondering since it does apparently have vitamin c in it and since it is a whitening product cani use it day and night or should i only use it at night. i ask mainly cuz i know that vitamin c degrades if exposed to sunlight, i mean i do use sunscreen religiously so i know it may not be an issue, i just wanna be sure its not gonna do damage if i use if i use it during the day. i can only dream of having skin like yours. since watching your videos and other skincare gurus videos my skin is better than it was when i was 15. i mean im only 27 but trust me ive since a huge difference since ive used alot of the tips youve given me. thank u much love
+Angela Chang Thank you for watching! My basic skincare routine is quite simple and the steps and products are pretty clear in the video and listed in the description box. The routines are just what I do and works for me right now. To answer your other questions - Since our skin is different and only we can know for sure what works for our own skin, I also don't know what % retin A you've been prescribed but I'm sure your dermatologist can tell you what's best - I have been told that it is ok to use AHA in combination with retin A and there's no interference. I always apply acid toner then serum. I hope that helps!!
I just found your videos and loved them! I am ashamed of my skincare routine after watching this video. But I am a little overwhelmed, I have dry skin and eye wrinkles. What should I buy first? This video is very inspirational!!! Thank you thank you! Going to try the lemon water too!!
Gorgeous video and super informative. I also tend to get flaky patches, so I'm definitely looking into your Hada Labo Gokujyun lotion! How long would you say this routine takes you, real time?
+Bonita C Hi! Thank you so much! This is actually a really quick routine for me. The only thing that takes time is after I apply serum and after sunscreen. I try to wait about 3 mins before the next product.
Hey I'm 47 years old and my skin is dry and dull. Can you suggest a morning and evening routine for me. I love your videos and hope you continue with your quest of beautiful skin . By the way you have amazing skin. You don't need make your gorgeous. X
Love all your videos Gothamista! I just had a question regarding your first two steps, because I would like to buy Missha's First Treatment and I am currently also using a Vit C&E+Ferulic serum. Missha's product contains niacinamide - doesn't this and Vit C inactivate each other when layered on top of each other?
have you tried klairs supple toner?? i have an oily but dehydrated skin and i want to use that toner as hydrating toner.. let me know if it will suited my skin well.. also.. does BHA or AHA contained product is save to use for daily basis? im afraid its exfoliate my skin too much..
Wow!!!! Your skin is so flawless. I noticed u have no wrinkles or crow feet whatsoever!!! What plant base/organic/chemical free skincare products would u suggest for combination type of skin
Hi, I am confused whether we can apply aha toner before serum vitamin C like u said in the video, since they are supposed to break the skin out. Please answer
Hi. I love your videos and have been learning so much. Why is it that serum is applied before essence? I've always assumed products should be layered in lower molecular weight to more dense. So- toner, essence, serum, moisturiser and finally sunscreen.
A new dwarf has been enlightened here. ha ha ha. omg, I love your skin care routine, and that hadalabo lotion ,, eer I've been mistaken and thought that was a toner for the whole time! gawsh. thank you for the info! a new subscriber here!
Is it true that we shouldn't use vitamin C and niacinamide in the same skincare routine? I got the Missha first treatment essence and was contemplating if I should use it with my vitamin serum.
Hey, um for someone who lives in a tropical country, with dry, oily and acne prone skin how do I know what kind of Korean skin regime thats the best for me? Never tried it, and was never interested because its too much steps and consumes alot of time, but kinda wanna give it a try now, most of it because your skin looks so, so amazing ❤️
Just wondering if you reapply your sunscreen every 2-3 hours because I always forget to and if I'm wearing makeup I usually don't bother. I was thinking maybe this would be bad for my skin? Any advice would be appreciated! Love your channel and your skin looks great😇
I've been trying out the ten step Korean skincare. I have combination skin normal around the perimeter and oil/shiny in the tzone. Do you think I can get away with just cleansing with water in the morning? I live in Texas and super hot during the summers. Thank you!
I live in the country where the weather is really humid in the summer. My skin is combination to oily skin but I have acnes as well. I am trying to find the good skincare routine for mine. I cannot use emulsion/oil or even moisturiser because it leaves my skin sticky feel and during the day oil from my skin will come out on the cheek and around the eye, forehead. Can you give me any advices? I tried many different moisturisers but end up leaving them at the corner :))
aww. you are in the same boat as me :( all the acne. pimples have left large open pores in my skin and it looks like I have dents in my skin and they are so many ;(
Hi Renée! I can no longer count how many times I've watched your skincare routine videos (already watched other videos as well *addicted*) Your videos got me started on skincare routines. Do you patch test every product that you try and use multiple new products in a single routine? I just bought 1 product per skincare step (according to your day and night summer routine) and I'm not sure if I should just start using them all or should I go slowly and try them one by one? Thank you! :)
Hi! Thank you so much! I am very careful with choosing the products I put on my skin so I usually don't patch test. I also don't usually introduce a whole bunch of new products at once. I think it's always better to go slowly in the case that something does cause a bad reaction, you can identify exactly which product caused it! Best of luck and enjoy your beautiful skin with your new routine!
Dear Renee, what is your stand on the wait time after applying Vit C, since general rule of thumb is to wait 15-30 mins before and after any acids (that includes vit C), so that the ph of the skin can adjust. Please help me out 'cause I'm really confused with all the contradictory out there! Thanks!
You should try The History of Whoo Radiant White Eye Serum, you might love it! But I wonder why did you apply a serum before lotion (I mean, you said it can be used as essence too, right?). Thank you for the vid!
Hi +Gothamista. I read and saw some TH-cam about how we need to wash our face with a gentle foam cleanser when we wake up in order to get rid of all that left over product/sebum before applying other products for the morning. Just wondering what's true and your thoughts on that because before I just rinsed my face with water like you. Also, is eye serum a must before eye cream? Or is it just an additional extra step but not necessary? Thanks so much for you video - it was helpful! :)
My main skin concerns are mild acne and dehydrated combination skin. On a strict regimen with gentle cleansing, salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, and plenty of Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery gel! Looking into serums to amp up my regimen :) Thanks so much for responding!!
I actually just ordered Timeless Skin Care's Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum! I have been seeing good things about it and was happy about the price ($24.95/oz)! I will definitely report back in a few weeks! :)
Ahh, I just saw your prev reply now - yes, please let me know how that goes - I've heard it's a dupe for the skinceuticals one and really great so I'm very curious! For acne combo skin, anything with phloretin is also super!
+Gothamista Ooo very interesting about the phloretin! I see Cosmetic Skin Solutions has a dupe of SkinCeutical's Phloretin CF, called Phloretin Serum for $39.85/oz! I will definitely give that a try next purchasing cycle! I ordered some Missha Time Revolution Toner to use for prepping my skin's pH. I don't know how you do it with all these great products out there, I want to buy ALL of them! :P Thanks again for the response! I look forward to all your new videos!
I can no longer count how many times I've watched your skincare routine videos (watched all other videos as well *addicted to your page*). Do you do patch test every time you try on a new product? Your channel started me on skincare and I just bought 1 product per skincare step (day and night) and I'm not sure whether I should just start using them all or should I go slowly and try them one by one? Thank you! :)
I know you didn't ask me but I wanted to help you. It's always advised that you do a patch test when trying a new product. Personally when I buy new products, I don't like to try them all at once, I prefer to use them one by one, to see which product is actually amazing and which one is a meh, for example, If I try 2 new products together, and I liked the results, I would think that both of them is great, while in fact one of them is great and the other one is doing nothing for my skin, If I didn't know that, I'd keep buying the other product over and over again wasting my money not knowing that it's ineffective. I hope that answered your question.
also we're at peak heat here in texas and my first summer with korean skincare routine i realized i could no longer do serum, essence, and moisturizer because my face was getting reallllly oily...so i've been seeing what more experienced users did...i tried skipping moisturizer today too.
awesome. so far i've been playing around with that. i realize since i have oily and acne currently skin that i can't leave too many out. so far simply taking the emulison out has been nice so far..but it's an experiment!
You have some of the most beautiful skin I have ever seen!
+PrettyNicca Thank you so much!
You are very welcome:)
+Gothamista this is a throwback for you but, from this video I am starting my skin care list. However, your products are to high end which a broke college student like me cannot afford. If you know any great alternative please help me.

Such intelligent videos. I love your work! Keep sharing.

I really like your videos! I think they are very honest and straightforward without any hidden agendas. I hope you keep making more and stay true to your passion.
+R Pendragon Thank you! I will always be honest otherwise there's no point!
I don't have the patience or time for everything else to fully absorb - although one really should let each step sink in for a few mins.
the background track so amazing !!! you have such a grate taste on music :D love it :)

+Ji Mingrui aww, thank you, dear!
+Sheila Rowsell Thank you so much! Once you start with Asian skincare, it gets kind of addictive, take it from me :)

I tried many different moisturisers but end up leaving them at the corner :))
aww. you are in the same boat as me :( all the acne. pimples have left large open pores in my skin and it looks like I have dents in my skin and they are so many ;(
The OG video!!!!
I'm a new subie and loving your channel so much!!!! I can watch you forever

Amazing skin thanks for sharing
+nenany718 thanks for watching!
Hi Renee, is emulsion the equivalent to moisturizer or hydrator?
Do you use the hydrating mist over the acid toner? Or only use the hydrating mist alone?
Would you say missha is your favorite Essence? I love SkII but it's too expensive for a 19 yr old. :(
Dear Renee, what is your stand on the wait time after applying Vit C, since general rule of thumb is to wait 15-30 mins before and after any acids (that includes vit C), so that the ph of the skin can adjust. Please help me out 'cause I'm really confused with all the contradictory out there! Thanks!
U r one of my fav.😊🌸🌸🌸
The cotton pads that you soaked to aviod the flakiness- was it hyaluronic acid?
What are your thoughts about the Muji Skincare range? Have you tried it?
You should try The History of Whoo Radiant White Eye Serum, you might love it! But I wonder why did you apply a serum before lotion (I mean, you said it can be used as essence too, right?). Thank you for the vid!
I will check that out! Thank you! Vit C serum, I apply before everything else.
Love your videos the best!!!!! super informative!!! Thank you!!!!! Love from Malaysia
You are so sweet, thank you so much!
Can you post a link to where you purchased the muji peelable cotton? Tia!
Can you use Pixi Glow Tonic and Missha First Treatment together? Thanks!
+Becky L Cold water rinse is enough for me. For oily skin perhaps cleanse is needed. serum is extra step, not necessary. :)
+Gothamista okay, thanks so much! :)
your skin look amazing.. 😍
you have very beautiful skin :) really like your channel
Do you have any recommendations for a less-expensive serum? I'm looking in the $30-40 range. Thank you! Really enjoyed the video!
+volcomwave Hi! What are your skin concerns?
I hope that answered your question.
also we're at peak heat here in texas and my first summer with korean skincare routine i realized i could no longer do serum, essence, and moisturizer because my face was getting reallllly oily...so i've been seeing what more experienced users did...i tried skipping moisturizer today too.
my steps definitely go down drastically in numbers in the summer. update coming soon!
awesome. so far i've been playing around with that. i realize since i have oily and acne currently skin that i can't leave too many out. so far simply taking the emulison out has been nice so far..but it's an experiment!
