Thank you sooooo much for this information that was needed to confirm the locations of each oxygen sensor on an 5.3L engine

Awesome, thank you! My Saab 97-x has this engine - now to find your "how to replace the O2 sensor(s)" video!

I'm not sure if it's the zoom or the lens or what, but they look very easily accessible in this video, but in person mine look muuuch harder to access. I'll be finding out soon enough though.

They are pretty easy to get to, but the upstream sensor harnesses can be tricky since they are on the transmission

I need to know where they are for a 4.2 engine

I have the 5.3 Envoy XL. With 4.10 axle ratio. Rare, and surprisingly potent for its weight. I guess ima have to find the other vid about how to replace, because locating the sensor itself ISNT the hard part, it's getting to the connector where it meets the wiring harness!

If it’s like this one, the upstream connector on Bank 2 is located on top of the transmission. I found that lowering a wire along the firewall and connecting it to the sensor works best. From underneath the vehicle, wrap the wire around the threads of the sensor (once unscrewed). Pull the wire up through the engine bay and you’ll be able to reach back along the firewall and grab the harness. Once you get the harness, wrap another wire around it to keep it from falling back down. After you swap out the sensors, just lower it back down and screw in the new sensor. It’s a pain, but I found this works best.

@@PhillipsVision They made short 5.3's too, mine is a regular length, 5.3 LT. And it's great, fast as hell and sounds so good. Tows 5000 lbs like a champ. It's sad that it's getting really old and theres pretty much nothing out there to replace it with.
