I love this song! Great cover. I play a version of this but not nearly as good ! Both sound great but guy doing the harmony ! Wow ! What perfectly beautiful tone. I may be just a tad jealous !
If you haven't seen her live make sure you do! Even more impressive live. Incredible guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. All so effortless and pitch perfect...and she's only 22! Floored by her performance at Poisson Rouge in NYC the other night.
The Beatles wrote that in their mid-twenties. Rubber Soul. I was 13 years old when that album first came out. I KNEW exactly what they were saying in that song and started crying. I thought it was how older people reflect back on their lives. I'm now 66. I was right. Of course, you don't have to be old to have those feelings.
I understood it on one level, but it was after I experienced a special bond with my once-in-a-lifetime dog (who is no longer alive) that this song took on an even stronger meaning.
with the difference that when you get old enough you physically feel the painful loss of those you've lost along the way. When you're a teenager you understand perfectly but you've not yet cried the heartbreak of losing faces forever.
My dad was a Beatles fanatic, which is practically an understatement, considering he listened to Breakfast with the Beatles every Sunday morning, as well as having karaoke sessions with my mom and uncle every Saturday night. My bedtime lullabies were my dad strumming the guitar to the oldest classic albums of the Beatles. So when my dad passed away from cancer, this was the song I chose to go with the slide video. I can’t listen without balling my eyes out.
As I hit play, I was thinking, "What a lucky guy, to harmonize with Madison." A minute in, I'm thinking, "What a lucky woman, having such a fine player and singer to accompany you." Really fine harmonies, Mike; quite different from the original, but staying true to the spirit of the song-one of Lennon's best. -Tom
TLMuse Well, in music circles, Mike is a borderline legend. He was the music director for the "Walk Hard" movie and soundtrack. Has several solo records and a bunch as the leader of the power pop band, The Candy Butchers. He also contributed songs to That Thing You Do.
You two did John Lennon proud!!!!!! I have never said that before when it comes to Lennon EVER!!!!!!! Lennon is one of a kind and my favorite singer/songwriter of all time!!! VERY VERY NICELY DONE!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!!✌️🎶☮️
I prefer this to the original tbh, although I recognize the impact and meaning of it coming from Beatles themselves, it has its distinct irreplaceable quality.

I can’t help but cry when I hear this cover. Morning coffee, crying in my kitchen as I type… no shame. You guys absolutely killed it. Unbelievable. Lifelong, die-hard Beatles fan as well. You MORE than did the song justice.
I walked down the aisle to this song at my wedding. 20 years later he is without a doubt the best thing that has ever happened to me. You made me cry....this cover is stunning❤
This is because their songs cannot be improved on as they are 'perfect' songs. I have heard covers where they change a chord, even subtle changes like minor to minor 7th and the song falls apart. You have to play the correct chords and sing them without too much ornamentals ect.. Mozart music was the same where if you change a single note it again just falls apart. Never mess with perfection.
@@MICKEYISLOWD Himesh Patel does a pretty good job; this is actually one of the songs where I prefer his slower, acoustic version over the original. I love the original, but with the rock background and speed I don't get the same feels.
This song alone is worth a subscription. At my wedding a long time ago my late mom danced with me to the original of this beautiful song. When my daughter gets married (hopefully, she really wants a family but has a chronically bad taste in men), if it's OK with her I'm going to have this version played for that special dance. Thanks for the exquisite arrangement, playing and vocal, just blissed out right now.
Masterpiece. Best band ever. Thank you John, Paul, George and Ringo for feed our souls with so beautiful songs. You are part of my life forever and ever.
Wow. Just stumbled onto this. Didn't know of Madison till today. I'm very choosy about what I add to my playlist. No hesitation here. Stunning talent, both of you. Vocals, guitars, both guitar and vocal arrangements, exquisite and original harmonies, production quality ... and all genuinely real and live. Look and learn youngsters. This is quality. If you thumbed down, my sympathy goes out to you.
I can't listen the original Beatles song now without thinking in the melody variation that Madison sings in "I know I'll often stop and think about them"... that melody change is AWESOME!!!!! gives me the goosebumps!
Wow this is beautiful. The harmony's and the string arrangements are amazing. One of my all time beatles songs. I always think of this song as a perfect song.
Wonderful cover! I came here after Josh‘s Livestream. He mentioned you in his Q&A. I will check out more of your videos for sure. Thank you for sharing 🙂🙋🏼♀️
yeeah really amazing how she does it, i have listen easy 500 times these parts and i can't reproduce the same when i'm singing. I'm curious about what they’re doing with the harmony variation in theory too
WOW You two compliment each other so well vocally and on guitar. Mike I loved the soft background vocals you performed then you nailed the lead guitar. Bravo to both of you. Madison I felt your soul. Fabulous performance. MY EARS THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Just WOW!!! You made a grown man cry. Possibly the most beautiful version of this song ive ever heard. The beauty you bring to this song is unparallelled. I sincerely hope you two are teaming up for some more songs in this tone. Please please do more songs together. You guys have the magic
Nice cover. It has always amazed me that Lennon was only about 24 years old when he wrote this song that has such a mature and bittersweet perspective on life.
That’s truly mind-blowing. I’m 30 right now, and I always forget that The Beatles started in the industry really young and wrote their best songs in their 20s. There was indeed a maturity about artists back then that unfortunately only about 1-5% of the artists out there today have.
@@m.h.1593 I've also always been amazed at how young these guys were when they died, given the impact they've had on pop music: Buddy Holly was 22 and Hank Williams was 29 (he looked 49).
Fantastic arrangement. She's got a phenomenal voice and she's a really good guitarist. Mike Viola's harmony is perfect. If you don't already know, he sang That Thing You Do.
wow, fabulous (and very difficult) harmony, man o man!! Just really impressive. Your friend Mike is dynamite, damn. Just to keep that wild harmony so in tune is pretty amazing. Also lovely guitar arrangements. Thanks

beautiful rendition of one of John's most moving songs.
Please sing more with Mike Viola.. his voice is so amazing..

"In My Life"
There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments

All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone, and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall

And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
