I just like to imagine Batman sleeping on top of a building every night waiting for ANY signal to appear and if it's not for him he just goes right back to sleep.
Grumpy bear is probably my favorite bear. He's the ur example of chaotic good, and brings in a lot of moral complexity--he cares about others, but his own unhappiness begs the question--does he care about himself? How can he fight for good cheer if he has none? Does he use his own suffering to inflict suffering on people worse than him, such as the Rat King?
And he has an actual persona, unlike the other bears, aside from Secret Bear (where was she anyway in these sequels? She was adorable, and my second favorite).
Grumpy Bear has always been my favorite bear (I don't know why but I've always had a thing for grumpy characters... Even as a kid I couldn't stand all this rainbow magic and so found the grumpy one relatable), but now you've brought a level of depth to his character I didn't expect. I need to go watch this movie again just for him.
Maybe is not that Grumpy Bear is unhappy, but instead he fears that, if he shows too much weakness, he'll end up allowing the people he TRULLY CARE to be hurt
Originally the care bears were used to express your own emotions. Sleepy? Snuggle up with Good Night Bear. Happy? Cheer Bear's your girl! But grumpy, an emotion many kids feel- have Grumpy Bear. He was always my favorite too. :)
I actually read in a book I had as a kid that the reason he's grumpy all the time is because he absorbs the kid's sadness so they can be happy again. He literally says it himself. "I'm Grumpy Bear. My job is to take all the rain clouds away so you can be happy again."
The only reason I know about that Care Bears franchise is because of the Critic's reviews on the movies. I'm surprised that they were so popular that they got several movies released.
+Adrian Fahrenheit I actually really liked the Care Bears as a small child (before Sailor Moon came along lol). I mean, they're cute, fluffy teddybears with magical symbols on their bellies. Adrian Fahrenheit The Care Bears were popular, too. It's just that they were only popular among really small children, and not among adult men...at least I don't THINK they were ._. All them questions!
CaramellNeko Ah, I see. At least the care bears had the audience they were targeting, unlike the ponies which are targeted to little girls, and yet adult men and women think it's targeted towards them lol

Konigwolfen antlers are not a type of horn, bub. Horns are permanent and receive their blood supply by vessels inside the head. Antlers are not permanent. The animal grows them and sheds them each year. Antlers receive their blood supply through velvet which looks like fuzzy skin over antlers. Eventually the velvet dries up and falls off, cutting off once the antlers are fully grown. Then the antlers have no more blood supply and eventually fall off aka shed.
I wanted to mention this here instead of the Dark Toons episodes, because this fits more thematically here. While Care Bears was never really dark, I do miss the weird moments that the earlier specials and series had, such as Coldheart and his creepy child servants, and No Heart making a threat of eating Gentle Heart Lamb in the form of a tiger. There were some really good WTF moments in a show that was so light hearted and sweet to the point of being near saccharine. I think it could be hilarious to have a compilation of the darkest Care Bear segments on this channel, even if he doesn't exactly "care" about reviewing the franchise anymore.
Care Bears franchise used to not be afraid showing dark moments and show some dark themes behind the villains in the early days of the Care Bears. In the early DIC Care Bears show, Professor Cold Heart does some really messed up stuff to enslaved kids. And the Spirit Book from Care Bears Movie 1, Dark Heart from Care Bears Movie 2, and No Heart clearly shows demonic forces both thematically and in their actions to posses people to commit doing evil deeds, which is up to the Care Bears and Care Bear Cousins to stop. Their scary and dark vibes heavily contrasted with the lighthearted and friendly vibe of the Care Bears, which in result, Care Bears stories used to have actual stakes at one point. I do agree that Care Bears is never a really dark franchise, but I also agree with you that they used to be not be afraid having dark elements at times. I feel ever since Season 2 of the Care Bears Family is where the Care Bears franchise started to subtly heavily tone down the darkness thanks to No Heart and his demonic shadows having less presence in the show only be replaced by Shrieky being the dominant villain and the modern Care Bears stuff afterwards sugar-coated even further. You can even tell by the Care Bears films how the Care Bears franchise tone down the dark elements over time. Care Bears: Adventures in Wonderland and Care Bears; Nutcracker are nowhere near as dark and high in stakes compared to Care Bears Movie 1 and 2.
So while they head closer to the castle, the Rat King’s army attacks with-OK, who smoked one? Rat army, *attack!* ...Guys, I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but we’re about to be *pogoed* to death!? Speaking of which, is it weird that my spellchecker recognized that as word?
The backstory of the Vizir's attack is honestly the most interesting looking part of this movie. They should have had that as the cold open at the very least, would have been exciting to start a nutcracker story off with a war
"What about Christmas?!" Have none of these knuckleheads ever seen The Grinch? I mean.... isn't Christmas something that can't be stolen or bought or lost or anything like that? "Maybe, Christmas, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps, means just a little more." That's what always kills me about movies/specials whenever they have a "Christmas will be lost forever" or "Christmas is cancelled" thing. By the way, has the latter of which ever happened? Like, someone made an announcement that Christmas will be officially cancelled that year?
@@Hromovlad1 Is that true? Now I’m imagining a time travel story where someone accidentally gets sent to that time period after getting a time machine for Christmas.
Hoax Slayer It was better than the second one, at least. And Robin Williams had a very nice speech in his final speaking scene before he passed away. Though his other final scene was shamelessly edited in from the first one (possibly because he wasn't there for the final day of shooting).

This is super hilarious. I love the scenes where he mocks the chit chat with the care bears as such and where he has an imitatingly imaginative boss asking for a new care bears villain in 20 secs. Lol.
I have always wondered the same thing about grumpy. But this just came to mind, what if he is a part of all this because he can relate to the grumpy unhappy kids and then help them cope with their grumpiness and then make them happy? Maybe he can even get really angry people to not get violent or something
one of my childhood friends is named Anna. i think her cousin or nephew or brother is named peter.. she has someone related to her within a few years apart is named peter.

well, deers have antlers, and not devil horns
+Kayla Morello Antlers are a type of horn bub, and "devil" horns from mythology were originally based on goats.
The movie was.
The movie was.
5:32 So a bear becomes all black after illegally entering persons house? That's racist!
Enke796 Ding!
This isnt CinemaSins. XD
but he is a bear like a BLACK BEAR
And homophobic!
Um.. I think it’s because he basically fell through the chimney full of ashes
Those flowers won’t hold them for long!!!
...only *here* and in my *pot-induced dreams* will that *ever* make sense.
So while they head closer to the castle, the Rat King’s army attacks with-OK, who smoked one?
Rat army, *attack!*
...Guys, I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but we’re about to be *pogoed* to death!?
Speaking of which, is it weird that my spellchecker recognized that as word?
I love how it was on his “Movies I’ll never review” list😂
"What innocent creatures have horns on their heads?" Baby goats, that's who.
Ok who smoked one?
I lost it at that point.
One?
MabuseXX more like twenty
Elf Pine
By twenty you mean, twenty thousand?
Rogue Rainbow yup
Devil clown: “Attack!Attack!”
Also devil clown:” We weren’t attacking you!”
The backstory of the Vizir's attack is honestly the most interesting looking part of this movie. They should have had that as the cold open at the very least, would have been exciting to start a nutcracker story off with a war
10:07 I didn't know Grenda from Gravity falls is the CEO of care baers
Well, Soos did stare like them, so...
Funny that the clown with horns on his head says they weren't attacking them when clearly they really did, seeing how angry they all looked.
17:51 Are those toys being forced to dig their own graves? What the hell, Care Bears movie?!
"What about Christmas?!"
Have none of these knuckleheads ever seen The Grinch? I mean.... isn't Christmas something that can't be stolen or bought or lost or anything like that?
"Maybe, Christmas, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps, means just a little more."
That's what always kills me about movies/specials whenever they have a "Christmas will be lost forever" or "Christmas is cancelled" thing. By the way, has the latter of which ever happened? Like, someone made an announcement that Christmas will be officially cancelled that year?
Even if someone cancelled it, it's not like anyone would listen
+docdave15
actually, Christmas was outlawed in some states of the USA in the early days of the nation
+Hromovlad1 Really?...well fuck me....well actually fuck +docdave15 cause he said it (jk)
Hromovlad1 Huh, really? I'll be damned.
@@Hromovlad1 Is that true? Now I’m imagining a time travel story where someone accidentally gets sent to that time period after getting a time machine for Christmas.
6:04 I love the way he says that line!
There was a third Night at the Museum movie?!
Hoax Slayer yep
Hoax Slayer It was better than the second one, at least. And Robin Williams had a very nice speech in his final speaking scene before he passed away. Though his other final scene was shamelessly edited in from the first one (possibly because he wasn't there for the final day of shooting).
18:42 Hugs and Tugs are still young?! Wait a minute...it's established in movie 2 that the Care Bears age faster than humans! WHAT THE HECK?!
the reason beacuse all the girls looks like the same, is because is always the same. she made up the story on her mind and later do books, toys and all the shit. it is the autor herself
Now it's a little bit lest racist. Only a bit though.
.
Alejandro Rodolfo Mendez no I was quoting what the critic said in the review made this comment as a joke
i just forget the joke of putting the nut in the mouth and bite hard. still it is sound very weird to said it loud.
Alejandro Rodolfo Mendez yeah does sound kinda wierd probably should have said what I meant when I said that
I like how in all but the second Care Bares Movie, Nostalgia Critic finds a a way to put in a Ghostbusters clip.
was i supposed to take drugs before this
Not even a high person would like this shit.
takes acid.... woah man ....... still makes no sense
Ha
8:41 And at that moment I just find myself thinking how much better this special would be if Batman was in it. XD
This movie is actually one of my guilty pleasures what can I say? their voices were kinda memorable to me at least( lol I'm not from an english speaking country btw)
GamesXanimeX3 I thought I was the only one!
Nope, you're not alone XD
All 80’s kids, as I am also one, who grew up with these feel the same.
This part gets me every time: 17:04
His reaction is so damn hilarious!! "He's the prince!"
That’s my reaction when I found out that in Sleepytime Tom Paul frees, lightning instead of daws Butler, because the voice sound very similar
"What innocent creatures have horns on their heads?" -NC
Play the first part of Undertale and you might get an answer.
Or read homestuck, that works too...well more or less...
+Yugo Tokusatsu Or watch Thrilling Intent
Grell Sutcliff Yeah
+Yugo Tokusatsu DARKVISION BITCH!
what about sheep?
Look out! It's the Rat King! He ruins happy meals
@Red Coin Grumpy Bear: *fires up the meat grinder and deep fryer*
Rat turds in every box and leftovers if you’re lucky.
Batman should have helped them instead of The Fucking Care Bears.
I was just thinking how much better this special would have been if Batman were in it. XD
wait why didn't the care bears show up when that boss guy said he didn't care? is it because he's not a blonde with blue eyes?
espurrfection yes
The plot deepens.
the wizard from Fantasia's name is Yen Sid
And apparently the Critic doesn't know Who No-Heart is? Unless that was the joke?
When the lyrics Doug made up to the Nutcracker songs fit better than the ones in Nutcracker 3D
You're the best NC! :)
+SupaNintendoGirl There are other Nostalgia Critics?
+Nick Pick no but there is another NC :p Nostalgia Chick and Nostalgia Critic *IS* better lol
+Jake Jutras there's also Nicolas Cage
Nutcracker or Nostalgia Critic?
+Stage Lined it's obvious...Nicholas Cage.
Say what you want about this, but when I saw this as a kid, I actually got curious about the music and the ballet. I now love ballets and classical music thanks to this.
Anyone else thinks the critic should review Cool Cat saves the kids?
thealiencommunicator I do
Nah. It'll hurt the diwectors feelwings.
NO!
@@kylemorello4787 He probably rubs one out to that costume. Freaking sicko
14:12 Okay. Look at the rat holding Peter. Doesn't it look like he's doing something that should not be done?
Before the movie:😀 After the movie:💀
Ah Fuhrer Bear. He keeps all Dreidel bears warm in their nice metal beds and gives them plenty of air in the fun chambers.
Hugs and Tugs...? That's where I worked to pay my way through college....
+Indifference Meh I think she is a hooker - which I'm ok with that
“We weren’t attacking you”
He says after YELLING ATTACK!!!!!
Maybe they were attacking the train? Idk
Yeah! Let's fuck up a train! Clowns hate trains! Rawr!
you need to review alvin and the chimpmunks plz kill them
Ties into Christmas I guess
omg you need to review alvin and the chipmunks, the new one, critic, it's your DESTINY!!!
+Raymond van den Bos nah, the first one, THEN move up movie to movie, maybe throw in Smurfs 2
+Raymond van den Bos we just need the critic to decide i personly say the new one
+epic gfx I think he should be forced to watch all of them getting worst and worst, ending with the new one
This movie was a Christmas gift when I was a kid. It was on my Christmas list, and I loved it. I know it's bad, but I still enjoy it. Cuz nostalgia.
I didn't think Annie was that bad, Dated, not a lot of depth and very fluffy, but not bad. Although once I saw it was a Sony film my expectations were set pretty low.
This is super hilarious. I love the scenes where he mocks the chit chat with the care bears as such and where he has an imitatingly imaginative boss asking for a new care bears villain in 20 secs. Lol.
16:21 WHAT ABOUT THE DECORATIONS???
Care Bear producers: I DON'T CARE!
Random Care Bear: Did somebody say "care"?
that ghostbusters clip😅! I cry/laughed.
We came, we saw, we kicked it’s ass!
I have always wondered the same thing about grumpy. But this just came to mind, what if he is a part of all this because he can relate to the grumpy unhappy kids and then help them cope with their grumpiness and then make them happy? Maybe he can even get really angry people to not get violent or something
That intro is one of the best things I've ever seen.
You can stop at anytime. The Care Bears movies are never ending.
I argue they get worse over time. Care Bears Movie 1 and 2 are the peak as the best Care Bears movies, and even these are no masterpieces either.
0_0 My name is Anna and my cousin named Peter 0_0
Anna Budai Tóth If magic bears appear during Christmas, shoot them for all of us thanks
It only counts if you have blonde hair and blue eyes
look judging by your last name and how the (Nazi) care bears run things your safe
one of my childhood friends is named Anna.
i think her cousin or nephew or brother is named peter..
she has someone related to her within a few years apart
is named peter.
Now all you need are bears based on greeting cards and a voice that sounds like Bubbles from the powerpuff girls.
Holy shit Tamara looks amazing in that opening scene.
"I love those kind of movies because the Critic always takes me out to dinner afterwards" best line in this episode. I wouldn't be shocked if Doug really did that for Malcolm. 😂
"Why is there a Care Bear named Grumpy Bear?"
Same reason there's a Smurf named Grouchy and a Dwarf named Grumpy.
What about Toyland? What about Christmas?! WHAT ABOUT AMERICAN DREAM, NUTCRACKER!?
lol, this was the shit when I was like 3. We’d watch it in the car on the way to my grandma’s house. She lived like 3 hours away. Good times
