What a Japanese Mom Hate and Like About Singapore | Omoté Review

  • Yuri recently moved from Japan to Singapore with her husband and baby. She is sharing her experience living here as a mother. What are some of the pros and cons compared to her home country, Japan?
Today’s restaurant: Omoté (at Thomson Plaza)
    Official Facebook: / omotesingapore
    Make a reservation: www.omote.com.sg/
    Order online for delivery: omote.oddle.me...
It was my first time visiting Omoté, and I was genuinely surprised by its quality and uniqueness. They serve contemporary Japanese - a delicious fusion of Asian and Japanese cuisine. I love the octopus kara-age, the humungous chirashi, crispy chili crab, and the pork belly. Really delicious.
As Omoté is popular, I strongly recommend you to make a reservation from the link above so you are assured a table.
Big thanks to Yuri for appearing on my channel! Check out her blog (ameblo.jp/frui...) and Instagram / y.anes923
Thank you Omoté for sponsoring this video and providing delicious food for us. I will definitely come back with my family.

I think it'll be better if you give the guests a little more time to eat before following up with questions, and allow them to finish talking before talking. It just seems that the interviewees on this video and the other videos can be a little more comfortable if more attention is given to their conditions. Or maybe I'm just overthinking things which in that case, this would be another comment in passing with no significance

  • @oldtabrough1026

I prefer the interview to concentrate more about her experiences in Singapore than to talk about food. But unfortunately that's the trouble with being sponsored by the restaurant. It is what it is. I must say Yuri looks very young. Food is a little pricey for my taste buds. I think I will stick to carrot cake and chilli crab from zichar stores

Don't keep forcing your guests to speak Singlish. Firstly it gives them pressure and discomfort, since most of them only came recently. Secondly, we should promote proper English so that everyone can understand. It's good if you know Singlish but it should be a cultural complement rather than a demand to speak it.

Yr guest is kawaii when ghib san tried to teach her the shiok word. I can't help laughing (no bad intention just hilarious) when she first pronounced it as "shock". Shock and shiok big diff in meaning. But the 2nd time she said it emphasising the iok, she got it right. The last dish chirashi is a big shocker to me, how to eat ah...😲? LoL.

No, it's much further down the road. Nearer towards Ang Mo Kio housing estate. It's past the MacRitchie Reservoir and the nearest MRT station is Upper Thomson on the brown line.

@@annamillermemorylanestours5346 Unfortunately no, not fluently I'm afraid. I'm one of those who was brought up speaking English so I can only speak a smattering of dialect and Mandarin even tho' I studied it in school. It was a very disliked subject for me LOL! In any case, majority of Singaporeans speak and write fluent English as subjects in our schools are taught in English. Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are taught as 2nd languages. I'm just one of those who's not a linguist.
