Stalls that put different prices and then by default sell you the higher price one or pressure you to buy the higher price one by telling you the lower price one portion is too small 'for babies' should be dealt with or something. This is plain dishonest practice. If they are so reluctant to sell it, then don't list it in the first place. And, this is not the only stall I know to do this.
Some hawkers are smart enough to notice customers video taping the scene. They can also tell if the customer is a local or foreigner. Usually they won't act rude to foreigners.

This chain of chicken rice known to be rude to customers. The food is not bad, but you can easily find complaints about bad service. They even scold customers. No matter how good the food, why pay someone to disrespect you when you are just ordering what you want.
Ghib, the portion of chicken they gave you is bigger than what they normally give for $5. Tong Fong Fatt has branches islandwide but they all have similar practice of bad attitude to customers and miniscule portions. I have tried branches at Kovan and Toa Payoh and is consistently not worth the money. They have like a standard practice to take a small portion of chicken breast and flatten it to make it look bigger and cut into even smaller slices. Another issue I find is they like to overdrench the chicken with sesame oil and soya sauce making it really salty. Feel very thirsty after eating their chicken rice.
The meat is dry because the seller given you all breast meat. You should ask for drum stick or wings instead. For a fairer review, you should not go buy yourself as people recognise you out for food testing so might give you a bigger portion to get good reviews. You should ask a local to go buy and observe the seller’s service instead to different buyers. Most important is only the locals know the best chicken rice standard and the price being charged.
I saw the iconic blue banner and I already know the name of the chicken rice stall mentioned at the start. They are a franchise and happen to have a stall at the hawker centre near where I stay. That particular stall was also notorious for doing whatever is mentioned in the reviews, minus the snarky comments. So it looks to be an islandwide issue. That's the reason why the stall near where I stay got complained to the officials (whoever is in charge of this matter) by several customers. Nowadays, they are more transparent about their prices but the portion is still small for how much they're charging.

If you order and eat there, they’re usually quite ok, but once you tapao and open up the packet at home or office, omg the chicken portion are 9 out of 10 disappointing cos they’re mixed with the small bits instead of nice cuts. I hate the way they skimp things out at the expense of “tapao” customers. The one at Ghim Moh market and Bedok Central food centre practices that and I’m not sure of any other locations? Notice the way they pack the chicken portions after the rice is dished, very skilful and wrapped up so fast that you cannot see what they put inside.
I am a sucker for chicken rice as it is slim picking here in Toronto, Canada. I bet the one you visited is probably as good as the ones we have here. 😂

If the hawkers see a camera pointing at them, they're definitely gonna behave themselves and serve larger portions. In fact, being on TH-cam is a chance for them to promote their business.
I think this sort of shows that most reviews aren't that objective and focuses on downvoting just because of 1 part of a whole experience. It also highlights that people tend to forget about the positive parts of an experience, and keep focusing on the bad. Or the extreme end are people just gushing about the food and not writing a good review about everything else. If you notice, about 90% of the reviews are either 1, or 5. Which shows that there's a lack of objectivity. I usually give between 2 to 4, and will detail the service, experience, food, and ambiance etc. just complaining or praising in the reviews is already a red flag that the review might not be trustworthy.
East Coast Lagoon, Newton and Satay by the Bay are tourist trap locations selling overpriced hawker foods. You generally wouldn't find locals eating in these locations if they have a choice because it is just not worth the price. Take East Coast Lagoon and Newton for example, there are many BBQ seafood stalls, and they tend to not state or write down their prices properly, only to charge you extremely expensive for like a few BBQ prawns for example. If the food tasted heavenly it would have made the price justifiable, but they're just like the regular average BBQ seafood that you can find in any other hawker centers or kopitiams in Singapore. This dishonesty is also part of the reason why most locals avoid tourist trap locations, because every stall is out to hustle you and cheat you out of your money. Tourist trap locations are just not worth the money. Take your hummus etc which cost $24. You could have a way better and worthwhile meal in an air conditioned restaurant setting. Even Mcdonalds is more worth it than whatever you ate there. Remember Mcdonalds still have a side and a drink, making it a full meal for only about $10, whereas you get bad to average tasting food with sad portions + being overly expensive in tourist trap locations.
Satay by the bay, this one stall selling the sting ray bbq(ikan pari bakar). Walao, not fresh or not fresh enough. Even this one former dj got try it out on food vlog. Same experience
1st Stall Chicken Rice alot outlet, like franchise stall, more than 1 stall in Singapore. 2nd Stall, I think bcos cannot ownself pick = price may not be justified. 3rd stall is at Expensive location, so price is not cheap never try before so don't know. Last Stall also at Expensive location, so price also not cheap but taste don't know as never eat before.
1st stall chicken rice owner said small (cheap) portion for baby eating. What if a person could only afford small portion? The owner is not a kind/considerate person. I will avoid this stall, also no queue despite having elite pictures. Serve him right. The hummus n falafel stall, forget it. Save your money for better authentic food especially around Arab street or Haji Lane.
Have you been to try up foods in MBS foodcourt there? The foods there cost very or quite expensive at least Sgd$8.00 or $10.00 and above for single dish from any stall there, but not sure it worth it or not. One or two year ago I went there to the foodcourt and ordered to eat a quite big bowl of noodle might be 'Lau Mee' there not very taste, not very good, quite o.k only, it cost me SGD$13.00. I felt it could only worth 8.00 the most instead of charged amount SGD$13.00!
I expect more even if it's $6, that $12 humus is not value for money. Just imagine how much business opportunities they missed for being stingy with their portion for the $12 price. I won't support them even if it looks good or taste good.
Hainanese chicken without skin is total failure. The way Hainanese chicken is cooked is all for that chewy yet soft chicken skin with a layer of solidified jelly (fat) under. Without that skin we Singaporeans know that chicken is simply boiled chicken with plenty of sauce, not Hainanese chicken 😴
Yes food is subjective, but if many people give it 1-star with real comments, there’s a problem. Anyway did Ghib think no one would notice him/his friend pointing a camera at their stall? lol

@ the porridge stall next to them..the uncle standing outside of the stall also terrified me once, when he put his thumb into the porridge…he says he’s been doing it for 20 years, don’t worry eat won’t die…
@@JensonHiah are the other stall at that hwaker centre not hygienic enough too? I don't stay near so only visit during cny time but rarely go hwaker during my visit. Sound disgusting of the porridge stall.
@@celestialstar124 most of them are clean and hygienic, it’s just a rare and exceptional case that I come across myself. There’s mince meat noodle stall was of the best around that area during the 80s and still is, don’t go to the wrong stall
@@JensonHiah thanks for the explanation. I will try their minced pork noodle the next time I visit my relative/friend.
Tampanies interchange new stall only sell chicken rice $2.80 , taste ok if u r not picky, can make u full enough for one meal
This franchise chicken stall’s staff quite snobbish 😂
7:16 oh yea. you have got to experience the 9 Emperor Gods festival every year. it's quite a display. I head to the beaches around Singapore each year for the ceremonies. You should cover that next time! it's something that travel vlogs don't really cover.
There is a distinct/town (MacPherson).
You can try exploring there/finding food/entertainment and how average Singaporeans get along with their daily lives.
Circuit Road - Balam Road - Geylang East - Aljunied - Paya Lebar - Ubi - Tai Seng - Eunos.
Very enjoyable video.
Love you videos very much ❤
Appreciate the support! 😊
I don’t go to DFF anymore as I find that I don’t get a fair portion of what I deserve for every time I order “take-away”.
No need blur the signboard is too obvious, is definitely "東風發“ chicken rice stall😁😁😁 , the second stall is Mala Xiang Bo at Bedok Interchange 😂😂😂
That stall has severals around Singapore and I never get that kind of portion for $5.80 from their outlet at Market Street.
I am a sucker for chicken rice as it is slim picking here in Toronto, Canada. I bet the one you visited is probably as good as the ones we have here. 😂
Stall owners knew he is a utuber, Ghib should let his wife buy the meals, then it will be more unbias review.
Thanks for doing the video.
the chicken rice taste is not bad..but yes..the uncles always like "force" you to buy bigger portion.😅
The chicken rice is good at some outlets, but I wouldn't eat again due to consistent BAD service.
Super rude staffs as if you owe them money.
Not naming the store name in case I get a lawyer letter but its pretty obvious which store it is hahaha.
TFF?
Tong Fong Fatt Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice is the name. Sue me
@@BJJGay If its TFF, I'm surprised he even encountered a single good outlet. So far, all the TFF I've been to have been bad
@@HolyEnchanta 0:43 Could see the name and I searched it has the exact same rating on Google at kovan. They probably made the food good for ghib because they recognize him
0:43 you showed the name of the place bro 😂😂😂
Not only kovan. A few outlet I went to also experience lousy service. Yet the owner still has the audacity to put LKY photo on their stalls
Yep. Tong Fong Fatt Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice
Ghib san, you are popular, many people know you, next time ask your mother in law to help. Lol! 😂🤣
Report the hummus stall to NEA and STB for the pricey fake food portion. 😂
Remember Mcdonalds still have a side and a drink, making it a full meal for only about $10, whereas you get bad to average tasting food with sad portions + being overly expensive in tourist trap locations.
they all deserved that 1 star
I like your t-shirt❤
Where did you buy it😊
RIP Falafel store.
I think your final review will seal these stalls business for good
Seems like the chicken meat for the chicken rice served a little bit more compared to their Bukit Panjang outlet at same $5 price.
so how you wash the shoes if 100% waterpoof?
Satay by the bay, this one stall selling the sting ray bbq(ikan pari bakar). Walao, not fresh or not fresh enough. Even this one former dj got try it out on food vlog. Same experience
I too never trust google reviews too much.
The chicken rice is a chain. not the only outlook if i remember right.
The Mediterranean store was a bomb. I wouldn't pay pay $12 for the wrap with such miniscule ingredients. They are really cheats.
I felt it could only worth 8.00 the most instead of charged amount SGD$13.00!
first time i see hawker stall selling "baby set meal" so need see birth cert or measure height to buy?
I expect more even if it's $6, that $12 humus is not value for money. Just imagine how much business opportunities they missed for being stingy with their portion for the $12 price. I won't support them even if it looks good or taste good.
That Chicken rice franchise is the worst place to have chicken rice, they have many outlets and their ABC hawker center's stall is the worst ever
Tat chicken rice store isn't that bad just that it's smaller portions.. certain stores taste better too 😂
I actually like the Maxwell version more but i need to say i only tried like 5 branches.
The hawkers may have recognizes him as a youtuber or was told at the scene thus they prepare better food than usual.
the Singapore's version of Ryan Trahan
Yes food is subjective, but if many people give it 1-star with real comments, there’s a problem. Anyway did Ghib think no one would notice him/his friend pointing a camera at their stall? lol
I recognize the chicken rice signboard. Surprised their rating is that low. They've a branch near my place, googled it, also under 2. Sad
It's probably because it's you bro he made an effort.
I've been there and he tried upselling me and the $3.5 portions were bad.
Don’t be cheap and buy the upsized one then.
Even at 5 dollars it’s still reasonable for a meal with soup.
ignore the other comment, sub human
@@manofthehour_ it's not being cheap bro if you ain't rude and being dishonest I don't mind spending the extra but the way he put it to me when I went there :" you eat like a little girl ah*. Wtf man.
Go to Nanyang Spice at Sim Lim Square and eat earthworm laksa.
Earthworm…?!
@@GhibOjisan that's how traditional laksa is made
Good and affordable mala xiangguo is at Bedok central hawker centre, next to this coffee shop 😅
Holy smokes, assuming the tastes were all baseline, the prices are insane all around, so what's left are the tastes
However, those with good taste may have pretty terrible sizes so everything just cancels out everything positive
It’s an average chicken rice chain. Somehow, it’s a chain with generally bad and arrogant attitude and this stall’s attitude is worse. lol. It’s edible but given the number of chicken rice stall in Singapore…..
It’s really good of you to be positive but many Singaporeans view food as a necessity in life, especially when it’s near their homes. Positive when it’s really expensive and when the attitude is bad over many attempts…..wish it was that easy.
Am I the only one that noticed there's a moving small brown object moving at 01:54 behind Ghib while he was ordering that chicken rice? That looks like a cockroach crawling judging from its motion and size. Just curious as I am not sure whether that is considered normal or not in a Singaporean eatery
The last one is really not worth it.
Suprisingly not one stall from Yishun. 😅
Yishun too many good food
How can Dong Fong Fatt go wrong tbh? They franchised so many stores islandwide.
That last stall is the worst 😅😅😅 I would be honestly disappointed
TFF Chicken Rice is decent in taste but the attitude of many of their staff in many of their outlets is terrible, thus I guess that is why got rated down. I personally had too much bad experience that I totally avoided their Chicken Rice totally.
