    I’m noticing that the 2 sections where he says “Take me back to Eden” it sounds like it has a different intention. The first time it seemed to be a plea, a beg of some form. The last one however is a command.

    This song always reminds me of “the offering” off of the album sundowning, Opening lyrics for that song are “you are a garden entwined with all , you are the silence on sacred shores, you’ve got diamonds for teeth my love so take a bite of me” def them calling back to their trilogy of albums. Great reaction video!

    Really good reaction video ❤ subed
    These lyrics is the story of my life right there. I’m a parent who have been alienated by a covert narcissist. The infant dream of having only one true love for the rest of your life. The empath and people pleaser who have been abuse will always hope things will get better even though there is only a small chance of healing for the abuser. A song about the process of how a kid lives and cope with parental alienation would be sick.So many kids would relate to that. I hope sleep received my message! And that anger, i can relate ☹️

      There are soooooo many songs that do this already. Lyrics are subjective if you get a meaning that others don’t that’s ok. It’s dependent on the listener.

  • @ddevil4980

    When it comes to imagery and Sleep Token, EVERYTHING has a meaning. Some of them have hidden numbers that lead to locations on earth, some have other meanings. But its seriously a deep rabbit hole when it comes to hidden meanings and Sleep Token. It's pretty cool how deep they take it.

    This song is absolutely incredible. "My, my, those eyes like fire. I'm a winged insect, your'e a funeral pyre", is one of my favorite lines in any song I have ever heard. It's poetry. This album is a masterpiece. Also, the official "music videos" for this album definitely reflect what's going on the song. They allude to the deeper ST lore that is present throughout all the songs. I also feel like I should point out that this song is the penultimate song in the album. You mentioned near the end that it started to sound hopeful. I think this is because this song directly leads into Euclid, which is where Vessel accepts the negative things in his past, and chooses to move on despite them.

    It goes from sweet dreams, to ethereal visions, to an emotional outburst, to strengthened resolve, to a haunting ode of love lost, to a bitter acceptance of fate.
    Also, the apple she’s holding and the song being about Eden references the “fall of man” part in the creation story in the bible. In the story, Lucifer the fallen angel comes down to earth, infiltrates Eden in the form of a talking snake, and tempts Eve to eat the forbidden fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and to choose disobedience and knowledge over obedience and ignorance. Eve succumbs to the temptation and asks Adam to also partake of the fruit, to which he obliges. Thus, their eyes being opened to the truth of reality, and seeing their nakedness (vulnerability) they cover themselves. After being confronted by their capricious master for their disobedience, they are cast from the garden to wander and toil for their survival.

    He’s talking about his death, and going back in analyzing the trauma of his life. The final part is his anger, and realizing he can’t escape death, and expressing how he just wants to go back to his beloved Eden, which is a place of beauty love, and the lack of death that has Sunk its teeth into him. His death was by drowning. No one told him not to breathe while diving into Crystal waters. The weightlessness receding is the water coming into his body and drowning him and ultimately his body no longer floating, but descending to the bottom.

      It seems to be a song about the deep desire to return to a state of innocence and perfection, represented by the biblical concept of Eden. The first verse talks about immersing yourself in perfect oceans and feeling weightless, but also about feeling the need to breathe and lose that weightlessness. The choir mentions "those eyes like fire," perhaps alluding to Eve's temptation in the Garden of Eden, and the protagonist feeling like a "awake hell" while the gods get tired. The chorus repeats the desire to return to Eden beyond the path of reason, suggesting an almost irrational longing for a state of purity.
      In the second verse, the lyrics suggest a struggle with addiction or self-destructive behavior, with the protagonist spitting blood and feeling bad after "the main system fell." There seems to be a feeling of betrayal on the part of people who are not reliable, but also a determination to protect themselves and fight back. The line "I need you to see me for what I have become" evokes a desire for validation or acceptance despite the mistakes of the past.
      The third verse reflects on the idea that we often do not appreciate what we have until we lose it, and that even the strongest love cannot save something if it is not actively chosen. The lyrics suggest a frustration with the loss of innocence and a willingness to fight with "self-sought fury", although that does not completely restore the desired state of purity. The post-chorus refers to the idea of being created with intention and purpose, but also to the possibility of being dragged as "branches in a flood." In general, the song seems to be a plea to return to a state of purity and be seen and accepted by who we are, even if we have lost our way.

    • @andreah5554
      @andreah5554 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes!! I am glad you thought so deeply to get those layers to the song. I even see the second repetition of the line "Take me back to Eden," when he hits the higher notes, to be like a shift into a mental state of fear/ screaming realizing he is not going there. The final stylistic switch in the song, with the darkness symbolically having encompassed the surroundings, sealing him off completely from that light and hope, eliciting more of a cry of rage about not being able to ever return to that paradise.

    My take on it as the song progressed was it started as a state innocence but as time passed and life was experienced that innocence slowly faded. Evil and sin started to take hold to the point you could not recognize yourself. Hence why the statue was more angelic in the beginning but at the end it was engulfed in darkness. His vocal tones spoke this as well. In the beginning it was angelic but in the end it was more of a call begging to be taken back to Eden (state of innocence and/or happiness) But that’s my take on it.

    its meant to be the garden of eden. the apple from the tree where everything changed. it's giving in to edens vices. thats also why the lower half is a tree trunk/roots and the upper half is an angel with a scythe from the grim reaper. life/death

  • @rkb5496
    @rkb5496 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I know this is late, but the silhouette of the angel also looks like a tree ... from the garden of Eden. The angel is the angel of death, temptation in one hand with the apple, the scythe in the other.

    In my point of view that angel represents Lilith, the first woman! In fact the angel has a figure of a woman, who was expelled from Eden
    The legend of Lilit developed widely during the Middle Ages, in the traditions of the Aggadah, the Zohar, and Jewish mysticism.19 For example, in the 13th-century writings of Isaac ben Jacob ha-Cohen, Lilit abandoned Adam after refused to be submissive to him and did not want to return to the Garden of Eden after having mated with the archangel Samael (who would be the father of her demonic children, the lilim).20 The origin of the legend that presents Lilit as the first woman It is found in a rabbinic interpretation of Genesis 1, 27.21 Before explaining that Yahweh gave Adam a wife named Eve, formed from his rib,22 the text says: «So God created man in his image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Although today this is usually interpreted as the same fact explained twice, another possible interpretation is that God first created a woman in his image, formed at the same time as Adam, and only later created Eve from Adam's rib.

    I don't think the song is about a relationship, at least not a romantic one with another person, but rather a metaphorical one with the bliss, innocence, and purity of the "Eden" we experience as a child, or more in a spiritual sense of the soul being in a state of Eden before being brought down into the grime of "life". The ending, for me, solidifies this with his anger, aggression, and longing to go back to the state he once knew, screaming it out no longer as a plea, but a command.

    I think many many people possibly misinterpret the lyrics, IMO. It's about drug addiction.
    Read the lyrics again. Euphoria (Eden) aka from someone's drug of choice. Trying to stop by going through withdrawl only to wind up using again. Hence, the torture of addiction.
