I just relaxed my hair 2 days ago and I love it so much! About 5 years ago I went into full natural mode and I used to think relaxers were the worst and promised myself that I would never get one. Lmao I was in 5th grade back then. I tried so hard to deal with natural hair but one day I got a style that required straight hair and began straightening again after that. After a while of straightening and being fed up with taking 5+ hours on my wash days, I turned to relaxing and it was such the best decision ever. My wash days take no time at all. My hair is straight enough for me to be able to let it air dry and not apply any heat. That makes me happy because now I can finally stop using so much heat on my hair.

I, Adaora You can have straight hair. Buy a heat protectant, blow out your hair then proceed to straighten. I'm natural, I straighten my hair every now and then, but I personally always miss my curly hair afterwords, hence the reason I don't straighten often.
Your hair looks so cute and healthy! I use to keep my hair a similar length but then I went on a hair journey and grew it waist length. I miss my short hair..but went through so much to grow my hair. 😑

Thank you SO much for your awesome hair videos! Your hair is gorgeous, and I've gotten a lot of tips from you. My hair is curly and I'm texlaxed with a kiddie relaxer, and I wear it straight. I don't like to blow dry my hair but thought I had to until I saw that you air dry yours. I tried it thinking it wouldn't work for me, but it worked like a charm (I wrapped it and put a large roller in the crown, and let it dry overnight). I flat ironed it the next day and you never would've known I air dried. I got so many compliments too. Please keep the hair vids coming. They're fantastic!

Ok so first of all shout out and a big thank you for sharing your wash day routine with us. I actually went out and bought the Shea Moisture Shampoo and the ORS Hair Mayonnaise and girllllll with that first wash I already saw the difference in my hair just by using those two products. I am relaxed as well. I am relaxed plus I have burgundy permanent hair dye in my hair. I have dyed it once. I won't do any more dye touch ups. Your hair is beautiful and doesn't tangle when washing. Your hair has that natural glow to it and it looks high quality. My hair when natural is 4C. I have been experiencing lots of shedding while I was natural. I am happy you don't experience shedding. I experience a lot of shedding on wash days and even not on wash days. I thought maybe it was because I am a semi-vegetarian and I am anemic.. Because based on research excess hair shedding is a symptom of Anemia (sorry for getting all scientific on you lol) but yeahh, I have thick hair strands, thank goodness, so my hair will appear thick, but I don't have a lot of hair strands. I just got on my iron supplement and it has been a month on it, i will give it 2 more months for my body to adapt and I should start to see changes plus another 6 months just to be sure this supplement is helping. If i don't see changes then I guess I am lacking in another mineral or vitamin. I just got an asymmetrical layered bob cut because the nape area of my hair was thinning badly. My hair also lacks luster naturally. I don't like the quality of my hair. It bounces when I style it but it does not have that shine. What light weight oil can I use to moisturize and add luster and shine in my hair?? I am thinking about transitioning to natural and start over fresh to relaxed hair again. This time no dye will be touching my hair.

Wait. I thought when you have relaxed hair and you air dry, it just gets bone straight(without a straightener). It just looks blow dried.
If you still have to straighten it, what is the point of relaxing it? Or is there a stronger relaxer that makes it bone straight?
Awesomeness the relaxer makes breaks down a hair molecule that makes it straight. It will be straighter than normal. So when she flat iron it, it will be bone straight. Also relaxers keep that straightness in longer so that's why she wraps it.

girllll i use the She Moisture JBCO Shampoo and that's for hair growth (i'm sure you know!) but won't that defeat the purpose of a relaxer? because your new-growth will grow back faster! maybe opt for a moisturizing shampoo instead of a hair-growth one? :-)

Help I need advice 😭 my mom called my stylist, who we both trust very much, and told her I wanted a relaxer. The stylist gave many reasons as to why she refuses to give me one: I'm in a sport so my hair will sweat a lot (basically I would have to keep going to her), it's not that easy to take care of a relaxer, and girls my age (15) don't have the best record of taking care of relaxed hair. I've done my research as I always do before changing my hair. I know how hard it is to manage. I've already shown that I'm serious about taking care of my own hair as I have been doing it myself for the past 3 months with success. I want a relaxer not only because I like straight hair better on myself, but also so that my wash days and life in general with my hair can be easier. I don't want to go to a stylist all the time because it is too expensive in my eyes. My parents never complain about how expensive it would be when i went every two weeks, but I personally feel like it's too expensive. I already don't like asking my parents for money. Also, time with wash days is not an issue for me. I know you have to deep condition and do protein treatments a lot. I understand why she would not want to give me one. Her biggest reason is that I'm too young. I know I can prove her wrong and take care of it. It's not my fault so many girls in the past were lazy. Please help me. I'm so tired of dealing with my hair curly every week, because I wash my hair every week. Things would go by much faster if I had a relaxer.
