I remember this episode first went out in London on Saturday 25th December 1965, yes Christmas Day, at the time of 18:30. Those days nothing disturbed Thunderbirds! Also in the morning of that day, in London, they had show an episode of Supercar followed by Fireball XL5 followed by Stingray, so it was a Gerry Anderson day in London. (ITV was much more fragmented across the UK than now.)
Stephens knowledge as a fan and an actual creator of film and video content to such high levels as the OG Anderson teams is so good and credible with great insights.
"Vault of Death" was the first-ever Thunderbirds episode I watched from start to finish, and my parents recorded it on VHS video back in November 1991. Furthermore, it was my official introduction not only to Thunderbirds, but the world of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. Little did I know that this was one of the episodes expanded from half hour to an hour.
That kitchen scene is one of the greatest in the whole of the series. Lil, with the cigarette hanging out of the corner of her mouth, telling Parker what she's making for those upstairs' dinner. Parker's repostes to them are wonderful, viz.: "Cor, 'orrible load of old rubbish!", and: "Muck! Gives me 'eartburn just thinkin' abaht it!" He's then presented with a bowl of something that looks like it was made in the cantina in 'Path Of Destruction', and declares: "Stew! Me fav'rite!", and Lil says: "I spoil you, don't I?". Great work by Dennis Spooner, there. Oddly, Scott's TB-1 mobile control unit is still in situ when Light Fingered Fred (high speed dustbin stunts a speciality) breaks into the vault. How come? Or is it IR policy to leave a mobile control unit at every rescue site, just in case? [SARCASM]. Love these videos. They fill my nerdy heart with untrammeled joy. Nice one. 👍👍👍
0:01 An Another Awesome Thunderbirds Behind The Scenes Look Episode. Thanks Century 21 Films Buddy Amigo Dude Mate. Ps Nice Scene Of Gerry Anderson's Stingray The Original Series. Old School Times Man. XXxxx 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 🇺🇸
Thanks for re-uploading these videos! A few of us were worried 😅 thankyou to Stephen and team for finding these film cans and restoring them, and for also trying to piece together the complicated production history of Thunderbirds 🚀
After watching this all the way through, I was just Six in 1965, but Stingray and Fireball xl5 still feature in my memories- so if anyone can help with the timelines of these programmes I would be so grateful, as I am suffering a wee bit now from memory loss. Thanks. Robbie" Welcome Home" in Fireball xl5 etc it's all just wonderfull childhood memoreies. I was enthralled with Stingray and Aqua Marina, and once Thunderbirds came I had a regular subscription along with Dad's Daily Mirror and the People on Sundays.- it was sixpence or seven pence a week if I remember rightly. One thing I do remember is- THIS episode, as we had recently been to the Motor Show in Earls Court, and my dad had parked the car in Hendon and we went all the way on the Underground- which as a young kid from rural Wales was just amazing, so to see these undergound stations in the 21st century... wow!
VOD IS one of my favourites along with Sunprobe to a young child this all looked SO REAL and even as a lifelong engineer and model maker - close up - their models were OUTSTANDING. I became very annoyed when I found out I had been living a mere 7 miles from the studios in Slough whilst they were still standing - and didnt find out UNTIL I had moved away from the area and they had been disgustingly TORN DOWN. They should have been made listed as the productions were ground breaking in the 60's I have the complete TB box set for regular viewing. As I am now very ancient and alone - I put one of the episodes on and I am 10 years old again! Your videos are exemplary sir, if somewhat destroying the images a young boy had that maybe one day TB2 or TB1 would fly over and unload THE MOLE and dig itself off underground! Now I know it is only people swaying around on a scaffolding board up in the roof and a lot of papier mache and strings! Derek Meddings was THE MASTER of special effects and did many of the Bond movies later. His work has been imitated so much with his mastery if miniatures. Sadly we lost him too early in 1995. RIP Derek and all those who worked at Century 21 who have gone to the great Tracy Island in the sky - THANK YOU SO MUCH for a wonderfully enhanced childhood thanks to you. 👏👏👏👏
This amazing series "Thunderbirds" as of now is being re-shown on the American cable network "MeTV" alongside a score of 1960's era Hanna Barbera cartoons. So is "Supercar", "Joe90", and even my all-time favorite "Captain Scarlett". The network plugs this show on its own network with teaser ad voice-overs saying "Known Strings Attached". Get it? Strings? And yeah, i watch them, of course
Marineville and Tracy Island in the snow really evoke memories of Christmases as a kid in the 60s

These shows were truly timeless. Being someone born in 1998 I can't thank my dad enough for showing me these shows.
I loved the Vault of Death episode, and this really fills in the missing pieces. Thank you so very much, for providing the background! 🤟

Stingray was on regular repeats during my childhood, but I never really saw Fireball XL-5. I got to know it via TV21 and Countdown later.
I didn't realise that this was reuploaded!😮😮😮
great documentary look forward to more

Why the reupload? Are there significant changes?
There was certainly plenty of comedy in that episode. The drive back to London by er Ladyship is especially memorable.
❤❤❤
This was uploaded previously?
Sneaky sneaky. Re-upload. What is C21 up to!
