  • The sportscar for everybody, that summarise my thought about the 991.2 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS. With 450 HP, maximum usability and the looks from the entire 911 range. I tested this car in the city, on the highway, and on the race track.

    Usually this level of enthusiasm comes across as contrived but this guy is actually giddy about the 911 and that's pretty cool

    Grym video!!!

    Another wonderful review Janko!
    One benefit of the GTS over the GT3 is availability. In the USA at least, all GT3 allocations have been taken for years ahead, but there are 991.2 GTS cars for sale at most dealers now, including Cabriolets and Targas, and allocations for custom-built cars are available. The average asking price for cars in dealer stock is $160k.

    Great to hear your thoughts on the GTS being a owner of a GT3 - I had the option of getting a GT3 in late 2018/start 2019 but since I have two small children who both can sit in the rear seats in the GTS and because a GT3 have to be driven hard to get the real driving pleasure out of it, I ended up with a GTS. So what do I think about the GTS - as you said it’s really easy to live with, and I also feel it’s a great drive on b-roads when driven hard. I do miss the sound from my previous NA engine in a 981 GTS, especially when driving following the speed limits. Your GT3 and other NA engine can still give that amazing feeling driving at all speeds. Two things that I can do to my GTS is to change the CAT to a sport CAT - others have done this and it makes the sound more sporty and louder. The other thing that some are talking about is that the Michelin PS4S tire is even better than the P zero tires on the GTS from the factory - it will make the car grip even better and increase the fun factor or one can also go with the Cup2 -:) Hope you will have a lot of fun with your GT3 / have a great summer

    Great review Janko!! I know it's few years back but I was interested to know about PDK vs manual in these. I read that Porsche US sold more manual GT3's over the last years once it became an option. Personally I like the PDK on the modern 911. If you use it to it's full I find the car is an animal and nothing lost with the experience :-)

    How did I miss this one! I love my 991.2 GTS and the recent price hikes in UK puts a base 992 with a few options more expensive that what I paid. It’s an easy daily driver but a hooligan when you want it. I don’t like alcantara so tastefully specced it all out 😄😃

      The GTS2 is the sweet spot. The car is more fun to drive as there is a sense of more front weight with the GTS4. The GTS4 will also deliver some understeer during high speed turn in until the tires grip.

    What are the differences between GTS, T, and S? I really like the T!

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi B_M_F,
      The main difference between the models is the engine where the T starts at 370 hp and the GTS have 450 hp, the S is in between with 420 hp. The GTS body is wider regardless if you have rear wheel drive car. The 4 wheel drive car always have a wider body. The options you are able to select between the models are different and some of them are unique, like the 918 bucket seats in the Carrera T. The GTS have much more standard equipment compared to the other models. I believe that the big differences, when it comes to driving is depending on how you are going to use the car. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a tuff option, hard to feel differences in low speeds, not until you push the car you will feel some difference. Better than going with the rear axle steering on the 991.2. If you are not already, please consider subscribing.

    Painted brake Calipers is the most ridiculously priced option Porsche offers. Actually, they don't offer it unless you are a Piech family member or your last name is Preuninger. To get the brake calipers painted a custom colour costs somewhere around $25,000 USD. Let that sink in.

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this area, Porsche is far from there customers. Just make all calipers black and mission solved.

    • @JankoLind

      ...and I did not comment the price, I believe we all agree.

    how's the turbo lag on the GTS

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The turbo lag is higher on the GTS model compared with the case models with 370 hp, BUT not worth mentioning. You have a millisecond of lag that needs to be adjusted to your driving. On the track, you do not feel anything.

    • @RogerBaileyOnCars
      @RogerBaileyOnCars 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I drove a GT3 & GTS back to back recently and turbo lag in the GTS is not noticeable, the extra turbo torque though now that is very noticeable.

    you are so lucky, in TURKEY, a MC Donalds worker salary 19.200 TL / YEAR, a porsche 911 base price 2.000.000 TL, in USA a MC Donalds worker salary 19.200 USD, a porsche 911 base price 91.000 USD, calculate the difference :(
    YOU ARE SO LUCKY !!!

  • @cduncan5690

    Stop complaining about calipers. You're just looking at it from the wrong perspective. They actually go great with the tail lights.

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tail lights are tinted, anyway, today you can option out the coloured callipers if you order a blue coloured car. Thanks for watching and subscribing.

  • @anthonyrondolino8148
    @anthonyrondolino8148 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    There is the cost to consider in these models. A base GTS with rear-wheel steering is $20,000 more than the similarly equipped T. Sure, you get more horsepower but it is needless. Compare the daily driving/sometimes track day use of a GTS to a Carrera T. Perhaps a few seconds better for $20k? Was your track experience really any better? The GTS give a bargain on attractive but useless items. Center lock wheels are lovely but totally impractical for daily use and a maintenance nightmare. Similarly, the unnecessary sport design front on a GTS is too low, particularly when combined with the standard PASM 10mm drop. These options may appear cool but add very little performance and actually impair the practical daily use of the car. But the brain is often overcome by the heart, eye or other organ when deciding such things............
