I've had my 3345s for a little over a year now, and I couldn't be happier. I use them at the office and for casual day to day use. They have become so comfortable despite the thin sole. I can easily get my 10 thousand steps in and not be crying at the end of the day. The brown leather is peeking through in a few spots here and there, but I feel that it only adds to the beauty of these gorgeous boots. I love your channel and how you've expanded to more than just boots.
You will not get the toe collapse with blacksmith or current beckman. They both have extra material that prevents the toe from collapsing or shaping to your foot shape. It’s a shame really. Next time you resole, you can ask the cobbler to remove the insert and relast the boots.
YES!! The patina is spectacular. Been waiting for a Devon Reviewer Red Wing video and here you are; thank you so much, sir. BTW ... did you see the Beckman is being re-released? Immediately thought of you. Cheers from Minnesota ... just down the road from Red Wing.
It’s funny.. I have those exact boots on my feet right now, and my breaks aren’t as nearly as pipey as yours 🤔 Don’t get me wrong, they’re well creased, but all the breaks are finer, like a series of small cracks. The black finish actually gives the creases more texture, because what you’re seeing is more than the folds/creases in the leather, you’re seeing the finish give, and crack along the surface where it’s being bent. Also I’m noticing by the worn pair you showed in the sun.. the antique brass is just a finish 🤦🏻♂️ it wears off and exposes bright brass beneath, fu**. I’m getting my hooks swapped for eyes, so maybe I’ll run the 9060 hardware. Do you use shoe trees? Maybe that’s why mine don’t have that loose grain pipey-ness 🤷🏻♂️ They look great though man, good video, great taste. People sleep on the 3345, let’s wake em up 😎
Devon! I just saw your review of the Victorinox Farmer back from 2014 that was a 2 year review, could you do a 10 year review if you still use that? Id love to see a long term review 😄
Thank you for posting this review. The subtle brown showing through the black is amazing patina! Your first impression video of the Black Prairie Blacksmiths inspired me to get my own, and this video is only affirming what a good boot decision these are. Thank you for the conditioner experiment too.
@@wescobts not sure how you have approached breaking in but half an hour or so a day around the house before going for any long periods has always been helpful for me
@@jamesmarkham7489 Yes thank you . I should have been more clear, mine are the first generation Beckmans, and I feel the rear cut of the boot in the shaft area is a bit tight. I am unable to lace to the top and skip the very top. On the other hand my Iron Rangers are the bomb !!
I like the toe curl that your Blacksmith are getting! I don't know if you use shoetrees in those, but I say don't and let the boot curl up some more! It gives it great character
Do you use boot trees? My pair which is 3 years older still retained much of its original shape because of it. The only model that I am having trouble with retaining shape even with boot trees are any of the roughout models. Although they are from the same material, I think the roughout acts like a sponge and just don't naturally dry out fast enough before its next usage.
No I don’t use trees on my redwings… I don’t mind them losing a little shape, I prefer the slightly beaten up look.. I do use them for my more formal shoes
I've been having my eye on some Red Wings just because of the value for what you get. Wonder how they compare to the Beckmans. Beckmans look a bit less casual

Yeah they hold up pretty well don’t they!

My pleasure! The beckmans are on my list!

Personally, I black polish mine as like newish look.
It’s nice to have that option, I want these pretty beaten up, but I can always tone that down

Interesting review.
A review of the socks would be great....
Thanks it will come, I have been meaning to do one for ages!

Excellent, please to hear that and enjoy your boots!
I have two pairs of Beckmans. Very similar profile and amazingly comfortable. Love the look you have on these.
Thank you, the beckmans are on my list!
I must have had the one off, my Beckmans tear my feet up, going today for new insoles... we can only hope...

@@wescobts conditioner is very helpful for softening up the upper leather.

Great review 👌🏾👍🏾🤩
Thank you 🤗
You can always use a natural cream. 1-2 times a year with a light coat. That should not change the tecore effect.
Thank you that is useful to know!

No trees in these, I prefer my RWs to look a bit beaten up!
茶芯❤LOVE😊
Thank you 😊

I've read the extra money for boot trees isn't justified, vs shoe trees. I use the latter in all my boots and they've done the job.

Beckmans are fine. They both look identical after being broken in. But blacksmith is more comfortable I find.
I think the beckmans come in some pretty nice leathers and have a slightly lower profile on the toe.. they are lovely boots!
Awesome boots!
Yes!
I can’t wait to get these 😅
I think you will be pleased!
Those looks amazing
They do don’t they!
Looking good!
Thanks!
