      @Joshua Not if it was under warranty. I fried the receiver and amp in my Wrangler while installing a dual battery system. Totally my fault and it definitely was a major change to the electrical system. Jeep still replaced it for free telling me "it's a Jeep, people modify them".

      Is it not obvious that Tesla is full electric car that is at the beginning stages of infrastructure development. it's not like there are many other options for electric cars.. I failed understand your comparison to normal motor vehicle's. Many people live on an island and don't have access to big cities what's your point?

      @@sonnyvakil9193 My point is that the distance to service points and the time and inconvenience of taking a car to a service should be counted as cost of ownership.

    We've had a P85 since 2013. Service was awful from 2013 until about 2016 (very long delays and one repair would lead to new problems). However, once they started offering mobile service, it was an immediate turnaround. You can schedule an appointment from your Tesla app, and the tech will come to your home and do the repairs in your driveway. I couldn't be happier now.

      DesertCookie battery? Batteries almost never ‘’break’’ they just get worse by time, but that doesn’t get covered, also i never heard of a car having so many problems or just problems when the car is almost new. Even a steering wheel? It seems to me that tesla cars have very low quality... ( also it’s a lot worse for climate) (btw i’m not attacking you’re comment, i just don’t get why some people love them so much...)

    • @darkstars101
      @darkstars101 5 ปีที่แล้ว +46

      If you go read up/watch videos on long term tesla ownership (ie people who had owned Tesla’s for years) the cost of ownership is in fact WELL below a combustion car. Not to mention the cost for any given repair on a Tesla is nothing compared to the thousands of moving parts in an engine. Tesla very much gets a checkmate on all accounts.
      Additionally, take into account gas savings.. even if he had to fork out money for a repair or a shuttle, he’s saved thousands a year on gas. Tesla has the ability to make up for the minuscule cost of ownership in that way.

    • @troll6856
      @troll6856 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@darkstars101 Yea I think you're getting way ahead of yourself there with the people who own Teslas "for years". The model S only started being mass manufactured in the beginning of 2013 and had tons of fit and finish problems. The model X in mid 2016 also had an endless amount of complaints. Lets not forget the model 3 in the beginning of 2018, which went through production hell and overwhelmed service centers. There is a reason people are saying the Tesla service centers can't handle the volume anymore. So this whole "for years" is very subjective since, at most, someone could have owned a Tesla for 7 years, which in this day and age is nothing for a car. Not saying Tesla owners don't love their cars. But any owner who has gotten into an accident knows that parts are expensive. I have a model 3 and am scared shirtless about long term reliability and what will happen when the warranty runs out. I love the car, but I ain't drinking that Tesla juice. The company has tons of quality control issues.

    • @darkstars101
      @darkstars101 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@troll6856 I don't really think that's the case. Like with every new car model, they do have production issues. Tesla is no exception, on top of being a new company too. But Tesla has a track record of making things right for no cost. From the suspension issue repairs, to the out-of-warranty battery replacements they did for early Model S owners. Like I said, when you compare the amount of parts to go wrong (and cost of repair) on a brand new Tesla, versus other Luxury cars- its very much a calculated risk. My Mercedes C300 was $1,000 just to replace daytime lights. Another $800 for spark plugs, and so on and so on. If you own a Model 3, the worst case scenario is nothing compared to a worst case on one of those vehicles. If you want more information to set your mind at ease regarding reliability, I'm serious- there are so many accounts on the Tesla forum and TH-cam of most Tesla owners having little to no cost of ownership. They've been selling cars since 2012, so it's not like they're coming out of nowhere with zero experience and massive risk to owners. There are over 200,000 Teslas on the road now, so "tons of quality control issues" is an overstatement.

    Service isn’t even equal to any normal manufacturer. If your car is under warranty they can replace half the car and it shouldn’t cost or even the car itself. That’s called owning a car with a warranty 🤦🏻‍♂️

      But it was used - it might as well had no warranty on some parts anymore. But hey, 4 years and 8 for the electronics, that's not bad for technology nowadays.

    I've had a Model 3 since October and Ive never regretted the purchase. I also own a 2019 Raptor, a 2009 Nissan GT-R and the Tesla M3 is my favorite! I've done road trips from Utah to Washington in the Model 3 and I actually like road tripping in a Tesla. It forces you to stop and enjoy your surroundings, get out and explore parts of the country you otherwise would have just blown through. I've done road trips from Utah to Las Vegas in the Model S and trips from Utah to LA in a Model X and same thing, I like it! Sure, quicker charging time in the future will be nice but being forced to get out of my car and stretch my legs makes the trip feel shorter.

    • @dweiss1
      @dweiss1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      They didn't give him the roadster as compensation for having to buy the new tires. It was earned through referrals and being a Tesla ambassador. So, getting one doesn't exclude him from being able to complain about the other.
      If you had mentioned that he is complaining about having to buy the tires after getting a good deal on the car I might agree with you. But $700 for 2 tires is crazy expensive. I think they should have, at least, given them to him at cost.

    I own 3 Tesla's (Model 3, Model 3 P and a Model S). All 3 had the "Camera Visibility" thing. It usually fixes itself when the system re-calibrates the sensors and cameras after starting the car for the first time every day. I've spoken to Tesla about it, typically if the warning goes away a few minutes after driving off, its just a minor issue. The software will fix that issue.

    I like the fact that they care about the cars after the manufacturing line. Everytime I have had to contact them they have done everything possible to help resolve my issues. I had a service appointment yesterday and was notified of a recall on the charging port, which they fixed for free.
    About 5 years ago, I discovered (via the NHTSA website) that my 2009 Chevy Malibu had a recall, took it in to the dealership and was denied the recall repair. Also, a service member recently bought a new vehicle (I believe it was a Toyota), discovered that the it was shaking violently a few days later, and was told by the headquarters of the entire company that they were aware of the issue and had no plans to fix it.
    I am so glad that I bought a Tesla. It would be extremely hard for me to give it up if I was forced to. The car and the service are superior to any other automaker right now.
