I own a eager Beaver chipper. It shoots the chips down ,have a collection bag for it . A few mods and it will work for you. I had to buy mine 26 years ago. Dude you made yours,respect 👍👍.
I agree with some of the posts about a thicker flywheel, but your flat stock to deflect your wood chips need to be angle iron. This is how larger commercial chippers are designed. Keep it up man! Sweet videos! 👍🏻

My father and I made a ridiculous chipper once and used 2, 1/2" discs for the flywheel with flails on bolt shafts between them. The chipper was bolt on cutters on smaller windows sorta like what you have. The whole flywheel assembly including bearings is bolt together. It vaporizes xmas trees! no warping to worry about. We did have to use a tensioner hand lever to slip the belt though since it's so heavy. The whole thing is basically a stack of plates including the outer casing. Might I suggest hardened counter sunk socket heat flat screws for the blades? The SHCS you have are going to be impinged upon and bend over. That spot takes a ton of abuse! Keep making cool stuff, I love the channel!

Projekt świetny. Wykonanie luksus. Do poprawy drobiazgi - wyważyć wirnik (śruba z podkładkami gdzieś na wirniku), podnieść obroty wirnika, wyciąć okno /otwory po przeciwnej stronie żeby miał którędy powietrze zasysać to wtedy nie będzie się zrębką zapychał.

The project is very good, congratulations. One thing is missing, the air intake next to the shaft, on the fan side. However, be careful not to loosen the clamping of the bearing on the wall of the box. In my opinion.
I am no expert but I may think as simple solution: switch places between feeding funnel and shoot. you would still need to feed it from the side but still you can try to salvage most of the build and see if it works. I follow you in years and you are great!

I would think 2 improvements, 1) a curved shroud on the inside following the blades, 2) a mechanical feed mechanism in the intake chute, some larger PTO powered units have like tank tracks that raise and lower to feed stuff in.That being said, I love watching you make stuff. I don't have nearly the skill set to do what you do and its always a pleasure to watch you work. I've seen tones of DIY stuff on TH-cam. Much of it is barely functional and dangerous to operate. I always feel like your stuff could be mass produced and sold.
I think the stiffening ribs on the cutting wheel need to be welded to the rear of the blade supports, and then tangentially to the hub. This would put the stiffening where its most needed. Also, some spring loaded, driven rollers to drag the branches into the blades might help. Otherwise, an effective machine. I liked your driven chuck, for circular, cutting and welding. Very ingenious!👍 .
You have corners in your blower housing, should be a radius. And get your rpms on the flywheel up a bit higher. Also make the fans on the inside just a bit bigger. Small engine, but crank your flywheel mass up as much as possible to chew through the thicker stuff easier. Fantastic start to a fun project! I own a tractor powered chipper capable of 15 cm branches. .75 meters in diameter and 25mm thick, two knives.

On larger chippers there are feed dog rollers to feed the wood in rate with the chipper blades. The speed of the blade has to be high. So the ratio of blade speed to feed speed. You may have to reduce the height of the chute to help with chips exhaust. Good luck with your update. As you get lots of " IDEAS " from people which 99% is crap.👍🤦♂️
Woj Ciech, my first thought was he needs a higher speed on his cutting head. Maybe just swap out some different sized pulleys, I’m really curious what he’ll do to make this work. The build quality is so much higher than anything the stores in the USA offer for sale, I’m sure just a little tweaking will set this build right!
I love your video. I would say the biggest thing you could do to improve operation would be to add a round inner shroud that is a close clearance to the blower fins. Eliminate the corners where the chips can collect and you should be in business.
I would add a bit more weight to the rotor. These things rely on mass for much more than just momentum. Just a thought based on what i see in the junk yards when i come across wood chippers, most often the rotor is cracked to heck and back because (i assume) they lack the mass, most being made out of thinner gauge metal.
Very much agree. I worked on large industrial chippers . It seems the angle of the knives need to be adjusted, has it is not pulling the wood into itself,like it should. They did a great job making this chipper.
I’m curious what went wrong here and how you fixed it? Watching the time lapse weld and fab on the fly was a thing of beauty! If only I had video of the projects my dad and I did over the last 40 to 50 years in our trucking yard…
My 8hp chipper had a 12" dia by 1/2" plate where the knives attached, and only two knives, and the shoot where the chips came out was at the bottom, it was an ELCO, it worked ok, you could plug it up quite easily, i would make the main plate on your machine out of 3/4" plate, install larger blower blades, and power it with a 1600cc car engine.
"pop the hood" I see a cool air intake, its got a NOS fogger system and a T4 turbo Dominic. I see an AIC controller, it has direct port nitrous injection...

That's awesome bro. Yea my chipper has 2 knifes and holes at the top of the flywheel housing to pull in air. It definitely eats though once you get the discharge figured out that thing will be unstoppable. Awesome video bro
Great work, but it is necessary to use tool steel for the blades/knives. The mild steel blades will not last long enough. You may also need a very heavy radial stop for the knives to rest against. On industrial equipment, the knives have a taper splined lock in the rotor which tightens as rpm goes up. The vibration and the high rpm gives rise to sht happening quick!
He said that the nives are made out of dozer blade. That's carbide and tough as hell! Agree 100% with backing up the knives. At that rpm, were a blade to break off, it would spell catastrophe and injury or death!

The blades need to be grooved to reduce friction between the cutting edge and wood so that the chips easily fly off. Then you need to create a turbine like structure in the other side of wheel with light weight flaps so that there is an impeller effect which will drawn in wind and throw it alongwith the chips in the outside.

Sounds like a wonderful excuse to install a inline 6 diesel power plant, or a V-8 with a supercharger, followed by an a heavier flywheel? or, JUST MORE HP.. I have never heard anybody complain over having TOO MUCH HORSE POWER...LOL... Just think, with a machine pimped out with some clever HP, you could get the whole neighborhood to do all the wood chipping you personally need done, just because they want to play with a COOL wood chipper... You could pull up a lawn chair and some popcorn and just watch'em work for you...AND, all people working will have smiles on their faces as they play... All jokes aside, as always, WELL DONE ! ! ! !
To solve your mistake you need: first, change the pulley to a bigger one increasing rotation speed. Second, you need to balance the blade weight onto the shaft
Hey guys, big fan here, and when I got my first one, I didn't know either, but modern cordless drills cannot/should not be tightened the way you do at 6:18 because they have a sprag clutch in them - a sprag clutch is one that locks up when the torque comes from the outside in and not the inside out. You can use the motor to take up all the slack, but you should always tighten them by hand at the end. Old Makitas from the 7.2V days weren't like that, and the motor was 100% the way to go and it's a hard habit to break, but you need to start breaking it now :-) Beefy project, unpausing to see the finish :-)
Hard luck on the exhaust choking up - looking forward to the fix and good on you for just showing it anyway, does wonders for low-self-esteem youngsters to see even the best fail sometimes :-)
Cześć, bardzo solidna robota. Też mam rębak tarczowy rt 630. Jeśli coś mogę podpowiedzieć to u mnie od strony koła pasowego są otwory w obudowie którymi wentylator zasysa dodatkowe powietrze. Dzięki temu zasysa więcej powietrza niż tylko otworem na gałąź i się nie zapycha zrębkami.
wlot powierza jest wiekszy niz wylot wiec nie o powierze tu chodzi a sposob przemieszczania zrebki w komorze wentylatora , trzeba dołozzyc łopaty tak jak ma kazdy wentylator transportowy , ssanie went mozna sprawdzic przysłaniajc wlot uzywam cus podobnego i wiem jak to działa
@@mareks6934 racja, na filmie są 4 łopatki na tarczy ale nie są zagięte na krawędziach. Rębak Make it extreme też nie ma zagiętych, ale chyba większe. wentylator na tarczy powinien mieć raczej większą wydajność gdy będzie zasysał powietrze z otworów przy osi od strony łopat niż tylko z tworu na drewno.
The chips get stuck between the blade and the propeller. So the blade has to take over the cutting and propeller work. Or the blades are on the left side, should be at the right side, so that the chips fall into the gap then the fan should be placed on the back. But your honesty is the best. Thanks for video.

Clearly just cutting out the bottom is the first next-step - however you will need a way of moving the debris away from the mincer. I like the idea of a fan attached to the main fly wheel, but there are many solutions possible. Looking forward to phase 2....

My guess is that the speed was to low and he should have placed fan blades on the back of the rotor to help with more airflow for the output chute.

He said that the nives are made out of dozer blade. That's carbide and tough as hell! Agree 100% with backing up the knives. At that rpm, were a blade to break off, it would spell catastrophe and injury or death!

The blades need to be grooved to reduce friction between the cutting edge and wood so that the chips easily fly off. Then you need to create a turbine like structure in the other side of wheel with light weight flaps so that there is an impeller effect which will drawn in wind and throw it alongwith the chips in the outside.

Sounds like a wonderful excuse to install a inline 6 diesel power plant, or a V-8 with a supercharger, followed by an a heavier flywheel? or, JUST MORE HP.. I have never heard anybody complain over having TOO MUCH HORSE POWER...LOL... Just think, with a machine pimped out with some clever HP, you could get the whole neighborhood to do all the wood chipping you personally need done, just because they want to play with a COOL wood chipper... You could pull up a lawn chair and some popcorn and just watch'em work for you...AND, all people working will have smiles on their faces as they play... All jokes aside, as always, WELL DONE ! ! ! !

To solve your mistake you need: first, change the pulley to a bigger one increasing rotation speed.
Second, you need to balance the blade weight onto the shaft
Hey guys, big fan here, and when I got my first one, I didn't know either, but modern cordless drills cannot/should not be tightened the way you do at 6:18 because they have a sprag clutch in them - a sprag clutch is one that locks up when the torque comes from the outside in and not the inside out. You can use the motor to take up all the slack, but you should always tighten them by hand at the end. Old Makitas from the 7.2V days weren't like that, and the motor was 100% the way to go and it's a hard habit to break, but you need to start breaking it now :-) Beefy project, unpausing to see the finish :-)
Hard luck on the exhaust choking up - looking forward to the fix and good on you for just showing it anyway, does wonders for low-self-esteem youngsters to see even the best fail sometimes :-)

Cześć, bardzo solidna robota. Też mam rębak tarczowy rt 630. Jeśli coś mogę podpowiedzieć to u mnie od strony koła pasowego są otwory w obudowie którymi wentylator zasysa dodatkowe powietrze. Dzięki temu zasysa więcej powietrza niż tylko otworem na gałąź i się nie zapycha zrębkami.
wlot powierza jest wiekszy niz wylot wiec nie o powierze tu chodzi a sposob przemieszczania zrebki w komorze wentylatora , trzeba dołozzyc łopaty tak jak ma kazdy wentylator transportowy , ssanie went mozna sprawdzic przysłaniajc wlot uzywam cus podobnego i wiem jak to działa
@@mareks6934 racja, na filmie są 4 łopatki na tarczy ale nie są zagięte na krawędziach. Rębak Make it extreme też nie ma zagiętych, ale chyba większe. wentylator na tarczy powinien mieć raczej większą wydajność gdy będzie zasysał powietrze z otworów przy osi od strony łopat niż tylko z tworu na drewno.

The chips get stuck between the blade and the propeller. So the blade has to take over the cutting and propeller work. Or the blades are on the left side, should be at the right side, so that the chips fall into the gap then the fan should be placed on the back. But your honesty is the best. Thanks for video.

Clearly just cutting out the bottom is the first next-step - however you will need a way of moving the debris away from the mincer. I like the idea of a fan attached to the main fly wheel, but there are many solutions possible. Looking forward to phase 2....
