Thank you ❤️ lol. You should try it. Honestly eventually I might change out all of my scented bar soaps that we offer and make them liquid. Seems like the scent would last longer in the liquid soap. I’ll have to do a test to see.
Awesome 💕 ! Would love to try your recipe ! Would you be willing to share the quantities of the ingredients, or would it be possible to purchase the recipe ? 🧡🧡
Good video, I’m learning how to make my own liquid Castile soap. I do wonder if that pH of 10 isn’t little high. The other videos I’ve watched, the soap maker tries for a pH of between 8 & 9. 10 just seems a bit high for something potentially used as a body wash. Like Insaid, I’m new to this but perhaps the lye to oil ratio is a bit high maybe?
Thank you. From my understanding a ph of 8-10 is within a good range. I personally haven’t had any issues or complaints and my soaps are always around the 8-10 mark. You can always lower the ph with a little citric acid.
Watch the whole video! She added more water that is not in the description. Overall great video. Ph is really high. You can lower it by using citric acid. Make a solution of 50/50 water and citric acid and add drops till you reach a ph of 6 at least.
Thanks and that’s correct the extra water that is not listed is what I used to dilute my paste. I mentioned the amount I used to dilute my paste in the video.
this is a liquid soap not wash... reducing the ph below 7.0- 7.5 will turn to a gooey mass that is no longer soap... soaps normally sit at 8.0 min 7.5, anything below this levels is calling for trouble to throw out the whole soap... i may be wrong but i speak from experience
Lovely soaps ❤ I have a question: for the liquid soap, would I need to add a preservative because of the water in the soap even though the ph is alkaline? If you could kindly answer this question, I appreciate.
Thank you. So the first one I let sequester for a week and the second one just a few days (maybe 2 days) at the time of this video. I think the difference is my olive oil. Which is weird because I used the same brand just a different bottle in this video.
Thank you. Yes I left it on high during the entire cook process. I highly recommend that you test your soap paste around the 3-3 1/2 hour mark if it looks translucent. I think I might have over cooked mine just a tad 🤣🤣oops 🤣. You can always turn it down a notch as well. Just be sure to turn it completely off once it’s done cooking and let it sit over night.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond... you are doing such a great job. I'm a retired chemist and an experienced CP solid soap maker but TOTALLY NEW to liquid soap making. This looks simple enough to try ... TODAY. I was going to try a 100% glycerine (hot) recipe but you convinced me this is worth trying.@@3baashandmadesoaps937
I like your video! When you're using the dual lye method, where do you get your measurements for each? Or do you make them the total of the lye used? Like a 50/50 split?
Thank you 😊. Yes a 50/50 split. For example once soap calc calculates my recipe and it says I need 5oz of (potassium hydroxide) I’ll then weigh out 2.50 potassium hydroxide and 2.5 sodium hydroxide.
@@3baashandmadesoaps937 ok cool beans! Thank you! I will be attempting my first batch this week and I like the consistency of your batch in the video! 🫶🏽
True soap has a ph of 8-10. If it’s too high for you just use citric acid to lower it. I personally don’t have a problem with a ph of 10 a lot of my hot process soaps have a ph of 10.
One more question ... does it matter what temp the alkali solution (NaOH and KOH) are when they are added to the oils? They are very hot at first when mixed ... should they cool down?
I think it worked! The mixture thickened very quickly after adding the lye solution, even before I added the glycerine. The oils were pretty hot, over 160, maybe that's why. At first the mixture was oily and separated-looking but, over time, it came together and became homogenous. It's not quite done but it's getting a translucent quality, it's been about 2-1/2 hrs. I will continue to keep a close eye on it. I plan to add a fragrance ... I'll let you know how it comes out! Thank you again. @@3baashandmadesoaps937
Okay cool definitely keep an eye on it especially if you still have it in high and keep me posted 🩷. I’m glad it’s going great for you. My first time was a complete disaster 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think it's done! I have another question .. is the dilution based on the weight of the finished PASTE or the weight of the original OILS? I used your recipe which used 20 oz of oils but I have 27 oz of finished paste. For a 2:1 dilution, should I add 40 (2 x 20) oz of water or 54 (2 x 27)? I'm a nerdy chemist and used to work in a laboratory with dangerous chemicals and complicated procedures, so maybe that experience helped me ... I Errors are not mistakes but learning experiences! The more you make, the better you get! @@3baashandmadesoaps937
Hey still sf between 1-3 no more than 3. In soap calc just make sure you select potassium hydroxide and not sodium hydroxide since it is a liquid soap and not bar soap.
Hey so for fragrance oils I’m not sure I don’t add any fragrance to my soaps I only use essential oil. My best advice would be to use a fragrance calculator. I’ve made liquid soap a few times but haven’t added any essential oils to them just yet.
Potassium hydroxide no I ordered mine from Amazon or bramble berry. Oils and butters yes you can get those from your local supermarket or a craft store like hobby lobby.

Hello 👋🏽 thank you🩷. If you plan to sell this I would for sure. Personal use you can if you like.

Did you have an issue with your liquid gelling in cold climates or any temperature.?
Hey so I’m in the south so we don’t see cold temperatures like most. For the most part though I don’t have any issues with gelling.
Do you cook on low or high?
I always cook on high
One more question ... does it matter what temp the alkali solution (NaOH and KOH) are when they are added to the oils? They are very hot at first when mixed ... should they cool down?
No you don’t wait on it to cool. Just add it directly to the oils while it’s still hot.

What preservative should I use
Hey germall plus is a good one.
Can we use potassium hydroxide instead of NAOH
Hey Sami. Yes you can use just KoH instead of SH. Just know that the consistency won’t be as thick with just potassium hydroxide.
can we use it as a shampoo?
Yes just make sure the oils you use aren’t too heavy on your hair.
Can you make this without a crockpot?
Hey yes you can. I personally have never tried to make it on the stove so I’m unsure how it works.
How do you measure both lyes?? Do you do half and half?
Yes half and half. When you enter it in soap calc be sure to select KOH and just split that amount in half.
Thank you
Do you heat the oils to 150 degrees Fahrenheit or 150 degrees Celsius?
Fahrenheit
Thank you 🤩 🎉
You’re welcome ☺️
Hey, it's me again! Lol do you start with the temp on low heat ?

From my understanding the soap needs to be warm when you add the fragrance and the paste needs to be completely dissolved.
