- This video has still images and footage of the famous E46 Racer at the Monterey Pre-Reunion on August 13th. This race car was a fierce competitor in its only season of ALMS. The car was fantastic to see and hear in person, and I wanted to share it with everyone. I hope you all enjoy. This car will be running again on Sunday, August 21st, 2016.

Omg the wheel arches, the wing, the roll cage. It's all in need for speed. And the side exhaust! I was really young, and I was disappointed when I looked at the m3 and it didn't have the kit or the side exhausts. Still want an m3 e46 though

Alexandru Cindea its illegal to own the engine of the actual car. Research about the BMW LE MANS Series 2001 and everything the car has is exactly the same thing in the nfsmw 2005, except the paint is different.

Alexandru Cindea no problem, yeah they only made about 6 or 10 street legal E46 GTR's. The street legal ones are still illegal to drive depending on what country youre in. Even though they made a few street legal GTR's, the motor is still a pure race engine.

Actually the one in nfsmw has a different body kit, which is based off of the BMW Motorsport version. Just compare the front bumpers
the only differences are the roof panel and the front bumper

So this is the real life NFS Most Wanted M3... except that it's missing the paint / livery and most importantly, the well known straight cut gear whine heard in MW2005 and Carbon. Now this begs some questions, can you have straight cut gears in a regular M3 and can you buy this body kit with the side exhaust and spoiler for a regular M3?
i think straight cut gears are illegal in a lot of places because its too loud

IMHO, EA Black Box should have used the exterior engine noise for the M3 GTR in NFS: Most Wanted (2005) instead of recording it via the interior, which sounded like a vacuum cleaner that gives the cars from Gran Turismo series a run for their money.
On the other side, that's the reason MW made this car a lot famous 😉
@@udbhav_arya Except it's overrated to oblivion much as the AE86 Sprinter Trueno (as this underpowered 128 hatchback got popular because of Initial D) and its base model, the M3 E46 suffers from a severe reliability issue where the undercarriage subframes are prone to cracking which is one of the reasons to avoid buying the said M3 itself. Not to mention that both the race car and the street-legal limited production variant E46 GTR are very expensive, costing around $470K-218K. Meanwhile there's cheaper cars that are far more reliable and (sometimes) better than the M3 GTR itself.
It's fine to enjoy the BMW M3 GTR but that doesn't mean it's the "best" car in the world much as how a JDM fanboy would say to a Toyota Supra Mk.IV (A80) or a Nissan GT-R R35.
@@CodyDBuni Yeah. But I think the reason people would buy a M3 GTR is for the fact that it's a street homologated version of a race car. It's a very rare one-off version of an already well known and desirable car. Not to mention only 10 of them were ever made, so of course it's gonna be that expensive. Yeah, there's better cars for the same amount or less money, but that is not the point.
As far as sedans go the e46 is one of the best handling chassis out there. The e46 m3 was great bang for the buck a while ago as well. I paid 12k for mine and only have about 4k more into it over the 5 years of ownership most of which was spent remidying the common issues. Subframe mount issues are easy to fix if you catch it prior to cracking. The bigger issue that befalls these cars is the rod bearings as well as vvt issues. Bmw made the connecting rod bearings too narrow while chasing friction losses. It means that your going to be changing out bearings every 80k miles or so.
You are factually wrong there. The sound used in nfs mw and carbon is of tvr cerbera. It's not the real sound of thr GTR.

No prob! Personally, I don't know what I would do, my gut says turbo, but I never thought about supercharging it, so I'm not sure, but it sounds like either one would be badass! I think the supercharger would bring it in the 600bhp while the twin turbo could probably get more, but still I'm not entirely sure with this car. Sorry for the vague answer, I just don't really know. Thanks for commenting! :)

They toss a V8 in it cuz they wanted to trash everyone and that's what they did, and flatplane/european V8's never rly sounded like american V8's
They toss a V8 because the M3 was not competitive enough with Porsche if they put the original I6, which was quite heavy and not powerful.
