Man! I have watched these videos over and over, trying to wrap my head around stuff I haven't don't in 24 years!! I'm going back to school at 42 years old, and don't remember any of this! THANKS FOR GREAT TUTORIALS!!! Wish me luck!
Thank you so much! I had been stressing over retaking my compass test for MONTHS. Recently, I was looking u study guides and it sort of helped. But last night, when I ran into this video it was truly a blessing. You explain everything so thoroughly and it really helped me remember the basics. Today, I retook the compass test and got into intermediate algebra which is a HUGE difference because originally I was placed into pre-algebra. THANK YOU SO MUCH you literally saved me from taking 2 semesters worth of math that were pre-requisites. :-)
I have been out of high school for 30 years and with no college education. I'm preparing to get in the water, pray for me that, I become a great swimmer. I've always been weak in math. Thanks for this, because I'm going to need ALL the help I can get.
DUDE THANK YOU SO MUCH I'm confident in retaking the test now! I got a horrible test score my first test because i learned this stuff so long ago and forgot! you make learning this stuff so simple!
This video is awesome. I have to take this text in a few months and I was freaking out because when I looked at some practice equations I was a bit lost since I have not studied this stuff in nearly 20 years. Thanks for taking the time to produce this video.
Excellent video and very helpful. Exercise 7. Would you please give me an example of an equation that would require the decimal to move toward the back (negative)? Thanks!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your simple and accurate explanations. Out of all the math help videos out here, I like yours the best!!! Do you offer any individualized tutoring?
Is that required from all college before starting college? and All updated videos of yours will be asked the test then. also Id like to know the maximum of the score and how much should I understand to take college courses? anyway these videos are really great and easy to understand.
No it is not a stupid question. What you do is break down the numbers or terms to their prime factors and then find the union of all the factors, that is your LCD
This was great Im taking the test in a few days and this part is a piece of cake. Just sing the song (please excuse my dear aunt sally) aka PEMDAS. Pay attention to the wording of the sentence for those having hard time and sing the song :-) He is great and if he had a book with an instructional DVD he could blow competitors out the water because they don't come close. Im almost 30 and just now understanding this stuff because of him. I have studied every book nothing like him.
Hi I'm not going back to school after 20 years lol I just suck at math, it was never my friend unfortunately and I've been practicing all week long because my test is next week, and to be honest I'm so glad I ran across your video, this calmed me down so much its crazy. I'm starting to feel confident so thank you :) p.s I'm starting to like mathh hahahah :) YOU ROCK!!!
Hello! I really appreciate your videos! I am currently studying to take the Compass Test in November. I just watched part 1 of the Pre-Algebra, and went to watch part 2, but it said that the video is set to private. Could you fix that please? Thank you so much.
I have a question about problem 1. When I was in school we were taught that you only change the order of the computation if there are parenthesis in the problem. A question like this would have always been represented with parenthesis. Based on that rule the answer would be 30. Is this PEMPAS rule new? Why does it apply even when there r no parens?
PROBLEM 3. +maths gotserved or did you you just do it the long way? was there an additional way to solve problem 3. cause I just got the LCD for all den. for 4,3,and 2 which was 12 and proceeded on with the problem. I didn't do the second pair of fraction with a separate LCD. was I wrong to make the lcd for the two pairs of fractions 12 with coming up with a second lcd? is there a rule that i'm missing?
nadege innocent omg, you should take notes and study all night for it then. thats what i did. everyday i woke up, i was watching how he was solving these. same questions, just different numbers sometimes. Like if this youtube video shows 1+1=2 , on the exam, it will be 1+2= . Same question/ story problem, different numbers Take your time on the exam. I spent 10 minutes or more on every question to make sure i wasnt rushing .don't rush through it
nadege innocent Does your school have an online site that shows samples of the pre algebra questions? Thats what mahgotserved uses and that is what came on mine. hmm I'm so sorry :(
I school im going to gave me a study guide exactly like this one and when I did the problems and got the exact answers you did, I felt dumb because the answer key said something completely different....im really confused..
+Miriam Rodriguez the Least Common Denominator is found by matching the lowest result of each addition of your denominators. in the example of the video on question number 4 the LCD of the denominators "2,9,3" were found adding by themselves; ergo: 9= 9,18,21,30.../ 3= 3,6,9,12,15,18.../ 2 = 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18... Even though, in the nubers 2 and 3 the number 18 was high, it matched with the result for the number 9, so 18 is the LCD among those 3 numbers is 18
it might be too late for you, but its because you start from the right and count the times you switch numbers till you get right before the first number
B/c of order of operation. PE(MD)(AS) where P = (parentheses) takes first priority before addition or subtraction. Starting from left to right the 3 and 4 are found in the first parentheses. The denominators are the bottom part of the fractions. The easiest way to find the least common denominators (lcd) is to multiply the bottom numbers together (4x3=12) and then cross multiply the top numbers (numerators) with the opposite denominators for exp: 3 x 3 = 9 and 2 x 4 = 8. Which would get you (9/12 - 8/12) for the first part where 12 is the lcd. Then you would simplify if you could. You have the lcd when you can no longer simplify both the numerators and demonstrators into a smaller fraction and still have both demonstrators as the same number. for exp: simplify 9/12 to get the original 3/4 by dividing both part of the fraction by 3 and 8/12 to 2/3 by dividing by 2. - the demo. are different so neither 4 nor 3 would not be the lcd. however if the 9 from (9/12 - 8/12) was a 10 you could divide all the numbers by 2 and have a lcd of 6 in (5/6 - 4/6). It can be confusing at first...it takes practice and maybe a good tech. _intentional unchecked grammar errors_

Hi Math,
I'm a little confused in question # 3 why don't multiply 12 x 6 to get LCD

aww thx :-D
Excellent video and very helpful. Exercise 7. Would you please give me an example of an equation that would require the decimal to move toward the back (negative)? Thanks!
Oh victor thanks so much! It warms my heart to see that I have made someone successful!!! Keep watching and dont forget to subscribe :D
OMG this is exactly what I needed, I didnt want the answers, I wanted to know how to get the answers myself. Thank you so very much for this.
You are very welcome :D
Thank you so much! I took the test today and I got the perfect score. this practice was very helpful.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for your simple and accurate explanations. Out of all the math help videos out here, I like yours the best!!! Do you offer any individualized tutoring?
Thanks for the positive remark. Sorry for the delayed response. I will have the algebra test done by tomorrow.
You are very welcome. And I wish you the very best!!!
It's no problem! I appreciate it! Love your concise tutorials!

Would you say reviewing off your video's is a great way to study for a college placement (Assessment test)?

thanks for the videos really helps especially because we both have the same review questions!
To whom whoever made this: I love you.
+zulubeatz817 You are the best!!! Take care :)
Hay us there any way of talking to u I have to pass my math test before school start on the 20th. theses videos is kinda helping

This is very helpful when being out of school for so long. I'd just wish you would have broken it down a lot more simpler.
You are very welcome! Glad I could help :D
You are very welcome. I wish you the very best on the exam :D
ok thanks man, but how do i know i need to use that method? When there are many fractions?
That is the procedure you always apply to adding and subtracting fractions.
maths gotserved thanks
Hay, thanks a lot for your videos. I passes on the math part with your help.
found it ...thanks you work is very helpful and thanks a million
I take the test on Thursday 😒 I'm still a little lost but this helps someone following along with you! #Collegeproblems smh
we hope you do well on the exam
I did!
+PrincessRhea18 were the same questions on there?
Pre algebra in college?
THANK YOU!!!!!!! I am so thankful for your help.

thanks for the viseo, im brushing up for compass i think this is very helpful,
Eddie Sims did you pass
WOW thank u so much, u explain everything clearly.
You are very welcome
Thanks. I am so sorry for the mix-up. I will fix it right now thanks
OMG!!! What the heck was I trying to do for question #4??!! Thanks. Now I'm going to study better for the Compass.
Hey thanks will this be on the compass test? I hope so :))
You are welcome!
Thank you. Very informative.
You are very welcome

I need your help i failed by 3 points im trying to retest soon ive been out of school 15 years.
Thank you thank you. You are awesome yourself
i Love you... no, seriously, i love you..., this was a bunch of help.
Can you use the Texas instrument TI-30XIIS on the compass test?
3 is pretty easy cause u looking for the denominator just do 4plus3 equall 7 then do 2 plus 3 equall 5 then add 5 plus 7 equall 12
is pre algebra and algebra the only math on the compass test
You are very welcome
woh cool way of teaching
Thank you so much! Its helping me a lot ☺
Thanks sooo much!!! I passed! I can finally take Mat101 woot! Ty ty
Linda A You are super welcome. We are glad that we could support you
nadege innocent yes

nadege innocent Did you take math compass pre algebra? Cos that is what this is. ACT compass test for Math 101 college level math
nadege innocent Does your school have an online site that shows samples of the pre algebra questions? Thats what mahgotserved uses and that is what came on mine. hmm
I'm so sorry :(
You are welcome.
Awesome video! My test is tomorrow!!!!
We hope you ace that quiz
Yeah I skipped to high school math
+nadege innocent I skipped to high school math
+nadege innocent like 3 questions
+nadege innocent and btw thankd
thanks. this is very helpful.
You are very welcome
i hope i pass this compass test to go to chamberlain. for nursing i need this
Hi! Are these gonna be the kind of questions in the college placement test?
Will this help pass the compass test so that I can go straight into college algebra instead of remdeial?
is this similar to CUNY Assessment Tests ?
I school im going to gave me a study guide exactly like this one and when I did the problems and got the exact answers you did, I felt dumb because the answer key said something completely different....im really confused..
Hello there I just uploaded the 1st part of Algebra working on part 2 :D
Thank you so much this is so helpful! i forgot everything X)
thank you so much you are amazing and god bless you
if you have a low sat score are you still required to take the compass test?
Can you use a calculator on this test?
Why divide by 10? On questions 4. 20/30. Is that a rule?
I chose to divide by 10 because it is the greatest common factor of the two. Recall 2X10=20 and 3X10=30. Does that help?
You are going to pass :-D I believe in you
Hi I have a question , how can I found the LDC for 3 or more numbers?
+Miriam Rodriguez the Least Common Denominator is found by matching the lowest result of each addition of your denominators. in the example of the video on question number 4 the LCD of the denominators "2,9,3" were found adding by themselves; ergo: 9= 9,18,21,30.../ 3= 3,6,9,12,15,18.../ 2 = 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18... This is awesome! Thank you so much!
You are super welcome fam
Thx my placement test is tomorrow

Thank you for this! I appreciate it. It's like a brain refresher lol
Thank you so much this was helpful.
this is a stupid question how exactly did you find the LCD?
Aced my test Thanks
thank you so much !
how many math question would think is on act compass ?
Oh wow thanks a lot
very helpful I sure I hope I pass so I wont have to take 2 math classes
How do you find the lcd?
#6 was really confusing to me!!!!! why did you move the decimal point 6 times?????
it might be too late for you, but its because you start from the right and count the times you switch numbers till you get right before the first number
do these questions appear on the test
thank you... Helped me a lot thumbs uppp
#3. Why are 3 and 4 used on the first part?
B/c of order of operation. PE(MD)(AS) where P = (parentheses) takes first priority before addition or subtraction. Starting from left to right the 3 and 4 are found in the first parentheses.
