THANK YOU......im am 29 years old and haven't taken math since high school and decided to go back to college and get a liberal arts degree in sociology and social work but I have to take the accuplacer test to be placed in the only math class I need for my major, I waited till the very end of my degree program thinking id have to get a tutor and really be behind so I put it off and put it off, long story short I need 7 credits to graduate college and needed to get a 75 on the accuplacer test in order to be placed in math 171 and in order to take intro to computers,,,,,,,i used this and really grasped it all and plan on taking the test in a week ...wish me luck cause if I don't get the grade I need I will have to take up 2 15 weeks of shell remedial classes rather than math 171 and will not graduate at the end of the semester, lucky I get to chances to take this test,,,,i will post when I pass the test cause of your help!!!!!thank you for posting this so much
let me know how it goes as i am in the EXACT boat you are in except i will be taking it in two weeks and only have one shot at it!
What had happened since? 🥲
In high school, I was a beast in this class. I was so good at this. Once I took a break after high school, I forgot everythingggggg. Great review!!!
i really don't get math. its way too many rules and nothing seems definite.
Thank you so much, I tested completely out of remedial math and into college algebra by studying with your videos for 2 weeks. It's been 5 years since I took a math class, which was a remedial course. A lot is personal contribution too, but now I graduate in the spring for certain!
I have watched your videos for the past couple of days preparing for my placement test. This is giving me such a boost in confidence and I know I will be over prepared. Thanks for your humble approach my prosperity be your shadow and success your name! Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for these videos! Your videos were the easiest for me to follow along and I went from scoring around 40-50% on practice tests to consistently around 90% in just 1 day!
🙏🏼🥰 Your old comment still gave me faith today, thank you!
I went from knowing almost nothing on the ACCUPLACER Elementary Algebra sample questions (merely some stuff about negative numbers), to getting a 77 out of a potential 79 on my placement test, all through intensely studying these videos, and your Factoring Polynomials series, for about five days. Thanks to you, I'm starting off in Math 120.
This is coming from a GED background where I essentially learned only what I had to to pass, by the way.
So, thank you very, very much.
Thanks so much for making this! I forgot most of the math I learned in high school and was freaking out about taking the Accuplacer, but thanks to watching your videos I passed and got a 99 out of 120!
😳🫨 Congratulations!
Thank you I been out of school for 13yrs and this fall I'm going back to school. I did this same practice test and couldn't remember a thing. This will help me on my Accuplacer coming up.
I'm going back to College to finish up a business degree. However I have not completed the math portion of the curriculum. I'm taking the placement test soon. All your video's are a very big help. Thank you very much, God bless you!
Omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm in love...(lol) I'm so grateful that you've taken time to post this video..... I want you to know that I've learned more watching your video than i ever learned in school... Thank you sooooooo much!!!!! I been studying most of the day.. I think I'm gonna do ok on that placement test tomorrow.
Thanks for the review itll help on my public state college accuplacer test, this review really helped me out im subbing
I thought I know everything about math.I learned a lot from this guy..
Thanks so much! This will really help me. I'm taking the Accuplacer later today!
I didn't quite understand the last problem but all in all this was very helpful im having my placement test tomorrow wish me luck 😊
how did u do?
Im going to college for nursing ..ive been using your videos to practice math hopefully this helps me out. i read good things from other students though ..so im excited to ace this test with flying colors
10:55 than you for explaining why you moved the 4y2 to the front instead of the -12xy. I saw a video earlier and was so confused why they did that ( I thought it was an important step and didn't understand why the person explaining did it) but now i know its just because thats how the problem was written out
Thank you for the video. For Question 3, what is it that 'allows' you to put parenthesis around a number that is substituting in for a variable? Looking at the last term in the equation, -4y^2 becomes -4(-4)^2. However, what makes -4(-4^2) not an option? The two would give different sign results, and I want to be sure that I have no question about WHY the first way is the only way to be putting in parenthesis. Thank you!
Thanks. I will have to watch this a few times to understand it better. I've never been taught a good deal of this so I am amazed at how much I've pick up already. I like the peace sign. I know it will come in handy.
im know that i am fully ready to beat up this accuplacer because of you thanks alot. your awesome!
Hi, your videos have been extremely helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I have a question about question number 7. Why didn't you multiply 4- (-6). That would have been my first instinct. Any tips on how differentiate when to multiply or add a number in a parenthesis? Hope I'm not missing the obvious here.
I think I see the difference. Is the minus sign in bet. the parenthesis. :) silly me
Glad to be an asset!
I'm going to college after being out of high school for a couple years. this really helps to refresh my memory! thank you so much!!!
How much of a difference are the questions you took from the accuplacer compared to the sample questions?
Thank you so much this was a lifesaver ! I haven't took math in five years an this helped me ace the test.
Oh I am so glad that I was of assistance to you :-DDD
I'm a French teacher and have to take this test tomorrow. It's been 18 years since I've taken algebra. Thank you!
Algebra... that's in Egypt...
I keep forgetting that my youtube comments show up on here. How embarrassing! :p
Yeah, I don't do math anymore and have no clue why I need to show my proficiency in algebra to teach French. Thanks for the support. :)
If you'd seen my Algebra skills lately, you would not be embarrassed for yourself!
You are very welcome! Glad I could help :-D
I passed it, thanks to this quick refresher. :)
You are literally a savior!!! Thank you so much for posting these videos! You may just help me get a decent score on my test! God bless you!!! :D
Failed it the first time needed a 40 I got 35 using this video to study and its very helpful thank you lets all pray I get a 40 on the next try Januaray 2nd
i'm taking my accuplacer test today and i hope this will help me :) im feeling nervous because it's my 2nd chance and my last chance of getting in a college i want to go.
we hope you do well on it
did you get into college?
i take this on tuesday and i needed this bc i forgot everything after hs
This was very informative and reminded me alot of what I forgot over the years. Also I forgot about switching the great sign on question 10 when I did it because multiple across lines you swap it. Thanks for the classes..
question for the problem at 11:21 instead of doing all this factoring x2 are similar at the top and bottom so cant u cancel them out then reduce ... 6 divided by to is 3 so the numerator is x-3 and 4 divide by 2 is 2 so the denominator is x-2
This was very helpful, thank you! I'm preparing for the GRE and have not done this type of math or Algebra since HS. Thanks again! :)
Drupalistas.Net You are super welcome we are glad we could help
Remember only switch inequality sign if you multiply or divide by negative number. Do not touch it if you are adding or subtracting.
Thats right he he he
so when we multiply positive number we keep them the same ?!?
Yes that is exactly right
wow! this video was extremely helpful. I failed my test by 4 points. I was so angry and ready to give up, but your video has truly been a blessing. I am ready to retake my Math test now! you are a great teacher.
Easy to understand, helpful explations, step by step walk through.
Thanks for the encouraging words.
Is this for the AAF Accuplacer test??
Hi, I am taking the accolades on May 21,2014 in Texas I just wanted to know if some of these questions will be on the exam. I am really horrible at math. This is really helping me out a lot though. Do these questions come from the accuplacer exam itself? Or are they similar or very similar??? Thanks.
They test similar concepts. The questions are alterations of these problems. We hope you do very well on the test.
Thankss again for uploading these videos. i studied 1 weekened & scored 1 level higher & got the score that I needed.
Thank you. This was very helpful. I passed this portion thanks to this
You are very welcome. We are glad to see you passed!
hey great job, thanks, I had a question I have a elemantary placement test next thursday, will there be similiar questions on that test?
Thanks. To be honest with you I am not sure. Sorry
Excuse me sir I will be taking my placement test on the 9th of this month and I was just wondering since I am looking to major in acting and I will only have math electives for two semesters what math should I be reviewing to at least be placed in math 100 should I review just algebra and arithmetic ? and also should I be too worried about math since my major does not really require much math?
Oh, the sampler question is a great representation, it's the exact same level of complexity in the questions and there's no more or less required in what I took compared to the sampler. If you can get through the sampler fully understanding exactly WHY the author gets the answers he does, you should be fine.
That being said, I did watch a few other videos on the individual subjects within the test, but only after the author of this video pointed out exactly what skill which problem demanded.
For #5 why did you rearrange the order that you had them? Are numbers with exponent suppose to come first before any other number orrr???
Yes, that is exactly what I did. My goal was to place it in a form that matched one of the options.
You are very welcome. Glad I could help.
i need help with number 6. what is this type of problem called? that way i can do some more studying on it. have a test soon. thanks
Good to see examples from the Accuplacer but hard to understand your words at times and would have preferred that you slow down on the more complex of the problems because you rushed through them. Yes, I realize I struggle with algebra which is why I looked for help.
on number 2 id assume that the square root sign cancels out just making it a lonesome 30 right?
thatguymeech I dunno if this makes sense but it woudlnt cancel out. If there were to be a 2 outside over top of the square root THEN it would. I hope that helped 😭
In question #10, why would you multiply by the reciprocal rather than just multiply by 5?
Awesome! Your explanation was very clear.
Thank you so much. You are too kind
I'm not understanding how you factor the numerator. When you make the X, where do you get the -6, -1, 2 and 3 from?
Sure if you write the quadratic in general form namely ax^2+bx+c=0 form you get -6 by multiplying a and c. a=1 and c=-6. -1 is the b value the coefficient of x. You get the other two numbers by looking at what products of two integers yield -6 where their sum is -1
Can't thank you enough for this video!!! May God bless you!
Hello am going to take placement test for math to attend college. Can you please do a video to review similar questions ???
Guys i passed i got a 52 thank you for this video it helped me
I need help with number 6! I don’t know what other videos to search up in your playlist because I don’t even know what this is? Where are the polynomials videos? Thank you !
I didn't understand what u did with numerator on Q.6???
I am so scared that I will just fail this test miserably, math was never my strong point and this test scares me because I need to place in this one math class and its nerve wrecking.
Hello, thanks for the video! My question is for the last problem. Why did the inequality sign change postion again?
Sure! Anytime you multiply or divide an inequality by a negative number, you have to switch the sign.
Thank you very much,!
You are welcome.
I had practiced the compass reviews for the compass math and did horrible even though I knew everything on the practice tests, everything looked different. I hope accuplacer is more similar to their reviews online
On number 6, how did you get 3 and 2? Is there another way of solving it without the "X" method?
Sure! You list all the pairs that generate ac then see which of the pairs add or subtract to give you b. Here is an indepth explanation th-cam.com/video/nkYTKEDPTDA/w-d-xo.html
0n number 7, aren't you suppose to multiply 4 and 6? I know they turn positive but 6 remains in parenthesis? i'm a bit confused.
I love your videos. They're very helpful! You've saved me tons of time.
Question! At 10:46 on question number five, why don't you add the x's and y's?
On question 4 you indicate that the answer is D, however my calculation put the answer as B.... Pi times R minus 3 squared. The downloadable PDF that this is taken from shows that B is the correct answer in the answer key. Can you explain this discrepancy?
The answer on my key is D. So this video is correct. Hope that helps!
just type the question in on google it's there I did that
I have to study Elementary Algebra for Accuplacer test. Is Elementary Algebra is Basic Algebra or it is more than that (Algebra I) ? I am French and math courses are far behind me so I would like to study before to test but I don't know what parts of Algebra I need to study. Can you help me about that?
Awww thank you so much may God bless you too :-D
I used these questions to study for the accuplacer and none of these were on the test
@@DANNYN224 what was on there?
Question for #3 how did you get 16? I thought you multiplied the -4*2 (the exponent) which would be a -8 right? You lost me on number 3
Thank you!!! I am feeling a lot less stressed about the accuplacer. And by the way, thanks for making it easy and acknowledging that some math views can give you a panic attack :~D
You are very welcome!!! Glad I could help
It is a method for factoring trinomial expressions.
Thanks. It’s very helpful
In #6, why do we put -1 under -6 in the AC method? wouldnt it be 1?
Sure Luke. The value at the bottom of the AC method is the b value or the coefficient of x. Since we have -x, the coefficient is -1 which is the b value.
Is the Accuplacer like the SAT or the ACT?
Very helpful!!! Thank you!!!
Never mind after watching it again I understood. Thank you:)
What equipment do you have in order to write in the computer?
Im taking my accuplacer tommorow and its my second and last too, and the collage level is really hard. Elementary algebra is the most i can understand.
Roma Kozorezov We hope you ace that test with great scores.
i really appreciate that and wonder who is "we"
We are the collection of people that makes presentations like this possible.
I'm also confused halfway through number 10... Is there any other method ?
Thank you so much. This really helped so much.
farhiya hirsi You are very welcome Dad. We are glad we could be of support
Thank you! This was so helpful.
You are very welcome
Today I go to my school to retake my math portion on the accuplacer.
Last time I went to take my accuplacer I ended up getting a very low score because I literally didn't want to do it, and was pretty sure I wouldn't remember how to solve anything. So, I blindly just selected anything. It wasn't a surprise when they placed me in the pre-algebra class.
I did some studying with the help of you and my boyfriend. I feel I'm ready...Hopefully I can get a higher class. Crossing my fingers for pre-college algebra its worth 6 credits and will skip me ahead to college algebra next semester :-)
We hope you do a great job and earn a good placement.
Omg, I did great! I placed NOT ONE, BUT TWO math classes higher! Raised my grade up from class 010 (pre-algebra) to 045 (pre-college algebra) So next semester after this one I will be caught up for college algebra. This saved me about 1200 dollars and months of school work. THANKS SO MUCH. I had a feeling I didn't deserve that class and just needed to refresh and try again.
congrats!!! It warms our hearts to know we were an asset to you.
Atsuko Smiles were they the same questions on the placement test?
Atsuko Smiles where the questions the same as the tent
Where can I find more practice tests?
accuplacer practice test i googled it
thank u so much. your video helps me alot
On number 7 you use the multiplication peace sign but why is that if you are subtracting the 4- (-6). Why isnt that answer -2? Not on all the problem just the 4 & 6 part. Im confused
Great question, whenever you have two signs between two numbers namely the operation and a sign of the other number resolve the signs first before combining the numbers. 4-(-6) should be reduced to 4+6 by multiplying - and -
maths gotserved
Im CONFUSED to it was 4&6 when you chang the - to + you steal have to multiply
OK #6 completely mind fudge me.
No sense
yeah he pulls out the X with a -6 on top and -1 on bottom without giving any contest of what he's doing.
Why on the 19:17 you turned the negative sign to positive? I didn't get that... I thought they were supposed to be one negative and one positive, that way they would cancel each other out. And also, why does the -5 becomes +5 on 19:40?
Are u able to show us how to pass the language accuplacer test
i am confused on # six what was the X thing you did? why did you do it? please help me understand i take my placement test in 4days.
Sure You are welcome
You are welcome!
question 5 why does the answer 12xy not have a power of 2 with it like 9x and 4y does. I see how he got the answer from -6xy-6xy but why did the 2 not go with it?
At 3.09 the question is the square root of 2 x the square root of 15 so the answer is the square root of 30. so why did you pick 30, and not the square root of 30? (Question 2)
Also does anyone know how to make 3.09 into a link that directs to 3 minutes and 9 seconds into the video?
Oh (-4)^2 is negative four raised to the second power which is (-4)(-4)=16 so (-4)^2 is not (-4)*2
Q.5 the basic formula is: (a-b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2ab : 6x^2+4y^2-12xy
good tutorial man! well explained and it really helped me a lot.
You are very welcome :D Glad I could help
Thank you for your help..
Great vid, helped a lot!
Thank you.
You are very welcome
You are welcome
Oh sure. the last term was -4y^2. So if your substitute -4 for y you will have -4(-4)^2. Now following order of operations you do square first. If you square -4 you get 16 so -4(-4)^2 =-4(16).
