I feel like it should be impossible to go on a 20+ game losing streak. After a few losses teams usually come out with extra energy to end the losing streak. But to lose 25% of the seasons games in one stretch is crazy.
It seems especially surprising because it's not like they're getting blown out of every game. Like, don't get me wrong, there have been blowouts, for sure. But I count 11 games in this streak that were decided by less than 10 points, including a 4-point loss to the Nuggets and a 2-point loss to the Bucks.

The problem is that this is a young team, and most of the players don't even know what it is to win. It's sad to say, but that's something I've allready saw in other sports, and a team can really get stuck in an uncontroled losing spiral, incapable of breaking free from it. And in general, the only way is to restart from zero, with new players and staff. And mostly without the leaders, cuz even if they can perform elsewhere, they won't in Detroit. Too much (or too little) happened here.
Houston is doing what we should be doing with the actual good coach with still all young players the only people that are older on their team is Fred Vanvleet, and Dillon Brooks and plus we do have Bojan

As this is a bad situation for my beloved team, what doesn’t/didnt get addressed is how a team with as many losses in 22-23 season was only able to select 5 in the draft back to back years. No knock on Ivey or Thompson but both 22 & 23 the Pistons should have been top 3 in the draft. Not relegated to 5. The Magic,Rockets, Kings , & Spurs have selected 1 multiple times and outside of the Spurs the other franchises have ruined their talent being bottom feeders for so long drafting top 5 for years. Only the 76’ers can claim more if not the Clippers (Sterling ownership). The team is in desperation to win but when the Commissioner is omitting a team to help other franchises (Hornets, Spurs, & Trailblazers) get top 3 picks there is a problem. Bad basketball is bad basketball but the odds for getting the help in the draft was not there for this team. Not sure how to regulate tanking but let’s ask Silver when he will show the team some love in the draft instead of letting the product sink abysmally into nothing. Detroit VS Everybody.
One thing I find crazy about this losing streak is that even out of other teams out there that were expected to be bad, out of the top 40 losing streaks of all time even the Sacramento Kings never got anywhere close to this level throughout their 17 year playoff drought. Now out of all time worst teams, this Pistons team probably goes down only as the worst by record only. Talent wise, this should be a 30 win team at the very least. Now while the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers have the worst all time record at 9-73, I would argue it’s between that team and the 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats as the worst team of all time. The only notable players from that 9 win Sixers squad that were any good or even decent were Fred Carter, Hal Greer, Kevin Loughery, and Tom Van Arsdale. Hal Greer actually is voted as part of the top 50 greatest NBA players of all time. The other 3 guys I mentioned, they averaged 15 PPG in their entire careers so I felt like they were good enough to mention. That Bobcats team that won 7 games had Kemba Walker, Corey Maggette, Bismack Biyombo, and Gerald Henderson as notable players. As for this Pistons team there’s plenty of good or notable decent players like Cade Cunningham, Bojan Bogdanavic, Jaden Ivey, Alec Burks, and Joe Harris. Roster wise, this Pistons team will maybe reach the top 10 worst rosters of all time depending on how their top players play.

What you see in the second half of games is what a team really is though. As soon as the defense tightens up they completely fall apart.

I honestly think Cade just isn’t that guy. He doesn’t scream franchise turn around. Back in the day if you were a lottery pick you were suppose to make the team somewhat better. Then they build around you. They are legitimately worst since he’s been drafted. Want an example the Kings have always been horrible but with right players the entire franchise has turned around. When a team is this bad your franchise player has to be a guy that makes others better by leadership or overwhelming skills. Or Both.
