I ran this exact setup in a senton and it overheated. I found out that even tho the esc is capable of 3s, it doesn't really like it. I was able to stop thermal shutdowns by simply using a 2s battery. I kept my top speed by gearing it up slightly more.
I'm looking at 40-45mph. I haven't went up on the cells yet but I got bout a 30 to 40 minute run time if I finesse my throttle properly. Temp stays solid with a cheap redact fan on the motor. I would recommend this set up just cuz I got another after the install. Same set up on a different rig and the same results.
Nice! I'm thinking I might try the Copperhead ESC and it that's not enough, move up to a Mamba X. I used a gearing calculator and the theoretical top speed is 86 with my current gearing, but I think the Sidewinder 3 just doesn't have enough to get it there.
I have a copperhead 10 esc in my X-Ray XT4 and it is a great ESC. It handles a 5.5T sensored motor like a boss. I race it locally and have had zero issues with the setup. I'm using spektrum 5200mah 2S shorty race packs with that system.
Kind of. The controller (transmitter) is bound to the receiver. The ESC is plugged into the receiver. If you are charging out electronics, it’s ALWAYS a good idea to recalibrate the transmitter to ensure the endpoints are set properly.
@@XXLRCthanks, iam new to the hobby and want to upgrade my mega, i cant find a good video how to of a replacement brushless engine and how to set up the esc and transmitter.
Nice try for less than what you spent on ESC and motor you could have gotten a Vendetta ESC and motor with fan, I did with 26t also for 112 before tax. You need fans!!! 3660-3665 size motor it's 1/8 scale!
Thanks for the advice. I typically stick with Castle. I thought I could get away with the Sidewinder 3, but it just didn’t have enough. I’ll get some fans after I get it all dialed in with a system I like.
@@XXLRC I just started with Arrma and they are engineered Right out of the box. I have Redcat, ZD racing and others but I am appreciating Arrma speed and build.
@@XXLRCyeah dude I just picked this car up a month ago and have been adding upgrades. I thought to myself there’s no way that small 3650 is adequate enough to carry that heavy car. I bought a 3665 size motor and even that I feel is too small. I wonder if I can fit a 4068 motor on this car
Oh man!! I watched and laughed from 19:00 waaaayyy too many times! Totally worth it!!
HAHA I’ve seen it done many times on other channels. I just had to try it. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I like your ideas.
I subscribed _right_ before you mentioned it. And 👍.
Thanks!

I think I’m gonna go with a different ESC. Might try it on 2s. Thanks for the info.
Awesome video!!! I’m subscribed now. Just curious how much was spent on all the upgrades?
Thanks for subscribing. Glad you enjoyed the video. Upgrades were about $170. The most expensive part was the motor and ESC combo at about $110.
Get a 120 esc 3650 4400kv combo and 2s 30C 5800mah. it works wonders for my Senton 4x4 rig and is 4s compatible. Nice video!!
What kind of speeds are you seeing with that setup?

What kind of motor and esc brand are those

So that ESC is paired with the original controller?
