  • We have some more ESC content for you to help you get the new Castle Creations Copperhead 10 ESC programmed. John gets deep into the programming functions of this ESC and talks about why he tweaks what he does and what you should look out for. After walking you through the programming, John will take the ESC for a drive in a test rig so you can see it perform.

    I have had a Copperhead 10 and Castle 1406 system (2 actually) and I have been very happy with them, I put one in my TRX 2021 Bronco, and the other in my VS4-10 pro. I figured it was time to watch this and find out what I have been doing wrong 😂 or what I have been missing in the features🤔. Great system Thanks !💯❤

    I think my favorite feature on any rig is the Cruise control on the TRX4...it works awesome , even in the rocks using either the Revolver or 4274S because of the torque-density.

    This program set up he did is no joke. My son has a trx4 bronco 2022’ don’t agree with but has a 3800kv 4pole castle slate with the lowest 9t pinion and 45t spur. His start up speed is way more controlled than what the hobby store did as a base start up witch he was thankful for. You wouldn’t know it’s a 3800kv. And the stock traxxas controller has all the proper end points sensitivity and so on with using the menu set buttons and power light. Thanks a ton I understand this goes through a lot of trial and error for you to have a good program and we grab it for almost nothing. I buy HH products the best IMO, thank again.

    I put the Limited Edition castle Copperhead 10 ESC with the Castle 1412 3200kv motor in my Wendigo about a week ago. My goal was to make the Wendigo run smoother at low speeds, yet still drive like a rock racer at higher speeds. I definitely reached my goal: with a 13T pinion (down from the stock 17T), I now have the low speed control of a crawler combined with the speed of a rock racer. This Copperhead combo has truly exceeded my expectations.

    • @jamesmorrell2901
      @jamesmorrell2901 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a side note, the sensor wire on my Copperhead Limited Edition combo came already plugged into the ESC from the factory: all I had to do was plug the other end it into the motor. It may not be that way for Copperhead ESCs sold individually, but it seems Castle is now doing it on their complete systems, which makes sense since users of complete systems are probably going to use sensored mode.

    I am trying out the ET -2400 non sensored funny car motor in my slash/ rock jumper project. Even though i have it geared 56-8 at the motor I had more cogging than I prefer. Using the mamba x, I turned the timing down from the normal 10 deg. To 0 and it helped.

    Hello, thanks for the info!!!
    I have a traxxas slash vxl that I have turned into a drift rally with abs plastic tires. My question is, if I wanted to smooth out throttle control for drifting can I add the copperhead esc to the 3500 vxl to make some adjustments on the computer? Or do you think im better off just buying the full copperhead sensored motor combo?

    On the data logging your explanation was backwards on the sample frequency. It gives you the option of 5 samples per second (which is a sample every 200 milliseconds) and 1 sample per second so the 5 samples per second is more information rich therefore shorter logging duration. Oh, and the option to disable logging.

    The aux wire on a mamba gets y linked in with your gear selector switch on 2 speeds. Has drag brake ramp speed reduced in higher gear Edit addition: you can set it up that way I mean to say. Otherwise there is an Auto ramp speed option I'm not familiar with. Anyone can speak to that and its effectiveness compared to the y link with shift and user chosen ramp speeds? Does the auto ramp feature really work good?

The programming isn't a big deal for me because I was tuning my Castle ESC's(and BLE Pro's and BR-XL's)nearly identical to John's tune even before I seen his tune video. I had my brxl tourquemaster esc, and my tekin rx8 g2 from my yeti stole from my apartment during a move. I am looking to get a new system for both my yeti and wraith. The wraith im thinking another Brxl,, but the price of the copperhead concerns me a little. I have the kit version with steel gears and universals. I like to use 3 cell lipos for the wheel speed and punch or grunt off the line. Since I'm on a budget i don't need anything made to race, i like to go fast, with technical sections and mud and dirty wet conditions. Is sensored needed? I like the speed of my 3800kv castle 4pole on the rx8 gen2. Stock gearing. Oh i have a spektrum dx4c radio, don't know if that matters. Thanks for any assistance in this matter. Trev.

    Hi Sir, I've copied all your settings (Copperhead 10 & Castle 1406-2850KV motor) and I have no idea what I am doing wrong. When stopping uphill or downhill, the car always slowly rolls, the drag brake is just too weak on 100%. Tested on an MST CFX-W and an TRX-4. Fresh new 3S Lipo batterys. No problem at all with the Fusion 1800 & 2300KV in the same RC cars, but I would prefer the Castle. But with that drag brake issue no chance. What am I doing wrong? @@HolmesHobbies Stock sport gearing, nearly new bearings in Vitavon axles, new motor with only a few runs on it. I put the timing back to normal and all was well.

    Honestly, I'm NOT sure why you feel the need to remove the top half of the case in order to install the sensor wire (or sensor wire adapter).
    With the case still together (exactly as it is when you remove it from the box), it's fairly easy to remove the sensor port cover, and even easier to plug the sensor wire/adapter into the sensor port. The "trick" is in 'clicking' it into place, as you have to push it mostly down into place..and then, while still slightly pushing down, you have to push it towards the heatsink (so that the top of the sensor plug "clicks" into place under the tiny 'tab' in the top half of the case. And, finished..........

      I couldn't get it to seat without starting fresh. Maybe a little more prying would have done it.

    To turn off the data logging you just disable the sampling. No sample = no data. Lol
