      Some of us do not have that luxury which is why we are Keto and Carnivore in the 1st place. Personally I do not believe Keto/Carnivore is the ideal diet for humans, but something in modern environment is causing many people to gravitate towards it to heal. When you have ankle pain, eczema, asthma, IBS and they heal and manageable under high fat low carb diets...we cannot be choosers. It is like asking an alcoholic to drink alcohol in moderation.

    I grew up in the theatre business as my family had theatres for 73 years. Popcorn was always cooked in coconut oil that had orange food coloring added. We got in in 5-gallon buckets. In the summer, it was liquid, in the winter it was hard as a brick and we had to use a heat lamp on it before starting popping the corn. Except for the food coloring, I always felt it was a healthy oil.

    I always loved the popcorn that my Mama made for me. What I've learned with doing Keto/IF, is that things just don't taste the same. I always enjoyed making homemade breads for my family. I still do that, but I've no interest at all, in eating them. Last Christmas, I took one tiny bite of bread and almost gagged. I now equate all former beloved foods that aren't good for me, as undesirable, without the taste testing. I don't even try to find Keto friendly alternatives for those things. I never want to revert back to where I was. I'm making great progress in my quest for truly good health and I WON'T risk a setback. Thanks Dr. Berg for all that you've done and continue to do to help us!! I'm so very grateful to you! You're such a blessing to so many here! May you be blessed, as well!!

    Yes, rice has an arsenic problem which was upsetting news. I cut it out, including products containing brown rice syrup. Look at the ingredient list of packaged foods and you’ll be stunned to see brown rice syrup everywhere. Ugh.
    As for popcorn, I only buy organic, use an air popper, then add a little melted vegan butter and salt. Eating popcorn once a week when my kids and I watch movies hasn’t hurt my weight at all. For me the key to losing weight has been not eating after 6 or 7pm and waiting 16-18 hours to eat again. Intermittent fasting is a weight loss miracle and is, for me, the most painless way to lose weight.

    Great video and yeah, theater popcorn is insanely bad for you. At the same time, it's definitely possible to make a healthier version of this snack. We get organic popcorn kernels and pop them in a stovepop popper called a Whirly Pop. We use a blend of grassfed butter and organic avocado oil as the popping medium and we sprinkle the finished popcorn with freshly ground pink Himalayan salt. Yeah, there are carbs but this is a favorite carb cycling / refeed food for us because it's satisfying and high-fiber. We've been Keto for four months and are fat adapted so we "pop" right back into ketosis the next day w/ no keto flu symptoms, etc. We stayed away from this popcorn for the first two months...now we have it once every couple of weeks. It's one of the things that makes this lifestyle sustainable for us.

    😰 Popcorn is the one thing I miss. It has always been my go to snack and my vice, not chocolate or candy. It’s so hard to not have it. I do on occasion partake in some once in a great while, but we pop it in organic avocado or coconut oil and then put organic Parmesan and organic truffle infused olive oil on it. It’s to dye for! The only reason I do partake in some once in a while though is because it doesn’t flare up my arthritis pain like wheat, oat and other grains do. And for me at least I’ve been doing Keto for almost 4 years now, so I get right back into Ketosis with no problems and I’ve never been a trigger eater or ever had an eating disorder or anything.

    I love making popcorn in my popcorn air popper because you can control what to top it with. I used to eat lots of popcorn but I cut down on it. Also, the rice cake that I eat are 100% whole grains, no high fructose corn syrup, and for one cake, it's 7 grams of carbs. I basically cut down on my carbs and I've lost the belly weight. When I started my Keto/IF life plan about 1 year ago, thanks to Dr. Berg, I wore size 20 and my health was taking a nose dive. One of my favorite snacks/meal replacement items was rice cakes. I was also the type to go to a movie I did not even want to see so I could buy the largest tub of popcorn with a large Dr. Pepper (pure bliss). One of the first things i checked when deciding to start Keto was popcorn/rice cakes, when saw I would have to remove these items from my food choices, I almost walked away. One year later, I am size 8 and my health has not been this good since my late teens/early 20's. I have not touched popcorn or rice cakes. Thank goodness I found Dr. Berg, and thank GOD I am listening and learning.

      I'd like to go on Keto, but currently most of the calories I consume are from french bread, corn tortillas, beans and cheese. The only meat I like is chicken and some fish. If I remove carbs from my diet I would have to live from eating eggs, tomato, banana, guava and lettuce. So I don't think I'll ever go on a Keto diet.

    3.5 ounces is a lot of popcorn. I limit the amount I pop to around 2 and it produces a huge bowl. so I would only have about 35-40 grams of net carbs. Thanks for the great videos and teaching.

    @hopelessnostalgic8444 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hate to see people in the comments being sad bc they're afraid they might not be able to eat popcorn or rice cakes again. Regular popcorn (not the microwave packages with loads of fat and salt) is a very healthy snack. It's whole grain because it comes from corn and it's low in calories if you stick to one serving (one serving (1/4 cup unpopped kernels) ) is around 180 calories and that 1/4 cup when popped gives you quite a bit. The key is that you should buy popcorn kernels and use an air popper or pop them on the stove without any oil. That's what I do and then I add some low calorie popcorn seasoning and it's really good. Been eating popcorn almost everyday since my weight loss journey and I still managed to lose 40 lbs in 5 months. The key with rice cakes is that you should eat it with some healthy fats or protein to lower the release of carbs in the blood. I usually top my rice cakes with some almond butter(healthy fats) and about two-three spoonfuls of non fat greek yogurt (lean protein). You just have to know how to eat these foods the right way and you can have them!

    I bet adding sea salt and olive oil or ghee would help at least cut into damage. As well as taking stuff that helps block carb absorption and turn it into energy rather than store it. Doesn’t green tea help with that, and chromium, and cinnamon. As well as something to replace the B vitamins and electrolytes and so on that you lose.

Because both Potatoes and oats have quite alot of protein besides the carbs Edit: and trust me I get more than enough nutrition in form of vitamins, micros and potasium etc. via my normal diat but I need to fill my muscle with glycogen in order to perform at my strongest, thats why I need these carbs
