I've had hamsters for years. The hamster community discourages full bedding clean-outs. Its stressful on the hamster as they rely on their scent, which I am assuming hedgehogs do too. We spot clean weekly (hamsters have one place they use as a toilet) and do 1/3 bedding clean out every couple/few months. Hope this helps a bit.
Thank you both! The 1/3 seems smart, I’ll do that. I’ve never heard the 7inch bedding rule for hedgehogs, I usually see people just keep them on fleece. I can definitely give her more if they’re burrowing animals ☺️
@@autumngrace.yes for hamsters full cleans should never be done. I take out at most 25% every 2-3 months. I can't speak for other animals such as hedgehogs but just the hamsters💗💗
i’ve got quite a few hedgehogs and i absolutely love them! i start mine off by potty training with paper based bedding and slowly switch to paper towels and it’s so much cheaper than loose litter! highly recommend this method for anybody wanting to train their hedgies for a cheaper price 🧡🦔
also wanted to add that i deep clean the whole enclosures once a month! i use a mix of fleece for the main ground and paper bedding in their multi chamber hides. i also have a few dig boxes around a well 🦔
I have a hedgehog that's on fleece bedding and I do daily spot cleans but end up fully changing it every week. She is fairly messy tho and makes lovely poop boots that she trails around her cage lol. She also has allergies and gets more itchy if her fleece is gets too dirty/dusty.
hey! so i have a hamster, and pees in one section of his enclosure and is a serial wheel peeer lol. i clean his wheel once or twice a week and then i only clean his soiled bedding. As for cleaning the bedding, I remove 1/4 of his bedding maybe every 2 weeks and then eventually the entire cage will have fresh bedding. maybe every other month i’ll do a full cage clean where i take all the bedding out, clean the base of the enclosure and then put the same bedding back in with additional clean bedding. Hope that helps
Hamsters rely on smell, so doing full cleans would be extremely stressful. Its also a huge waste since most of the bedding is clean. I would clean out soiled bedding weekly and only remove 25% every 2-3 months☺️
Ember's cute grumpy tantrum was soon forgotten when food arrived!!!! Love all the hedgehog content it's really interesting!
Omg her cage is sooooo cute
I would leave like a 1/4 of her old bedding when doing a full clean so that her scent remains.
I love the cage!! Good job with your hedgehog you are giving it the right care🫶
Thank you! 😊
hy autum how are you ,i love youre vidios so much im a fan of youre chanel
oh how cute that hedgehog is so cute 😘
Her face!!!!!!!! It kills me every time!❤️
I don't have a hedgehog but I would imagine if she's mostly only soiling in the litter box, then doing monthly full cleans would be sufficient.
yes love all the hedgehog videos ❤
Awesome hedgehog video ❤🦔
Awesome video. She's so cute ❤️
Thank you 🤗

Yes it's the same for hedgehogs! I'm patiently waiting for the day when hedgehog will finally have 20cm of deep bedding as standard in their enclosure

Ohh the paper towels or disposable pee pads is a great idea! And thank you for the tips about cleaning the rest :)

My hedgehog only sleeps in one hide too! He like to run through the other ones though!
I suppose she could be running through the others at night 😂

Do you know why The pig room launch is late?
hamsters don't need a whole cage clean, you only need to clean the spoiled places every day:) if their scent is gone, it stresses them out
When I had a hedgehog, the wheel cleaning was the worst!
Where did you get the gray for the wheel?
Do you mean the litter? It's on amazon! amzn.to/3Zm6sGF
The tray/litter box?
