Speaking of side quests, our favorite NPC is back again in Zero. The one whose name starts from A and ends with N. It’s amusing when seeing him and his best friend in this game with the same purpose just like they did in the Sky.
Yeah, I have to agree that I really loved the whole family dynamic between all the members of the SSS and even Kea.
Man, oh man. I can't wait for you to play Azure.

Mentioned it in the discord, but I experienced the Renne/Colin moment in the exact same way. It dawned on me as she is yelling at him. I remember asking myself "why is she so upset about this kid? It's not like she's related to... OOOOOOHHHH!" Then boom 💥 right in the feels!

Finally someone who acknowledges how underrated Lloyd is! Yes, Randy and Tio are amazing characters, but I also enjoyed having a more cerebral protagonist for a change in a jrpg.

@@antonioscendrategattico2302 That's why I'm a fan of Lloyd in Zero, but not so much in Azure. In Azure he's less of the "smart detective character" and more like a "clueless harem protagonist".
@@darks820 Oh yeah, he (or rather, everyone around him) gets WAAAAAY worse in Azure. I'm halfway through the game and I'm seriously tired of this shit. It keeps getting in the way of what would otherwise be a great game.
I don't know how many people came here from Cold Steel like I did, but here's my thoughts from that perspective. I think you get to know the SSS somewhat better than you do Class VII, in a way. Sure, you had those bonding points from Cold Steel, but you have to choose wisely with whom you spend those points. Here in Zero, it's all part of the story, no need to divert any more of your time than necessary. Zero seems to respect your time more in this way. Additionally, there's never any characters you leave out like you have to do at times in Cold Steel, especially characters you'd otherwise like but don't fit your current strategy. And there's also a lot less of this anime harem fluff like in CS, if any. I'm not saying in any way that Rean is a bad protag, but Lloyd just feels more like a leader than a potential love interest. And I guess I was spoiled by the Master Quartz system in CS, because the Quartz system in Zero felt off at first, but I got the hang of it nonetheless as I went on. But that's just what I think.
Good thoughts! I haven’t played the Cold Steel games just yet so I’ll have to wait and see how the different the Quartz system gets there.

I honestly just hope there's no more BP bullshit in Kuro. They get in the way of getting to see the good character interactions and add nothing to the story.
But yeah, as SOON as I saw Harold, I instantly recognized him (with like 95% certainty) as Renne's doll parent from Sky SC. And if you check out the bracer guild's board, you can see everyone's assignments. I stalked Estelle and Joshua around Crossbell every story beat, and you could definitely tell they were barking up the same tree.
So while that experience is a bit different from yours, seeing the freight train barreling toward me the whole time was no less impactful, I assure you.
I didn’t even think about checking the board in the bracer guild! Guess I need to load up an early save and check it out in each chapter.
@@TheTheoLogan898 It's more or less every day in-game that they're doing something different. So will be hard to do without another playthrough, unless you had a ton of save. 😄

Just finished Trails From Zero. Good game overall. I hope they get back "on track" or tie things together more with Ouroboros and the secret society in Trails to a Azure. Great review brutha 🙌🏿

Glad you liked Zero! For me, I'm starting to realize that the Crossbell arc has a lot of good points... but also a loooot more bad than the Liberl arc, at least in my opinion. For one, it felt like the racy humor was getting way too invasive. While in Sky it was the occasional joke at Joshua's expense, and he still got to maintain his mysterious aura throughout the game, and eventually open up to Estelle, who truly understands him, it feels like the teasing directed at Lloyd is a lot more pointless, repetitive and frankly a lot less in character. In fact, it felt to me like every time the subject of romance came up in Zero and Azure, I found myself rolling my eyes because I'd have to watch the characters I liked go away and be replaced by the exact same cliché for an entire scene, for no real reason. And it just... kept happening.
Frankly, the writers need to get their head out of their ass and massively cut down on the otaku pandering because it's seriously ruining the quality of the character writing to intersperse the good character writing that still exists with a bunch of out of character annoying sexual "humor".
Wish I could say it gets better but Cold Steel leans into it in some really awkward ways. I’ve had to speed past stuff during my live streams.
I just finished the game and I liked it but I’ve only finished Cold Steel 1 and 2 before. Currently playing through the first Sky game so I only had a vague understanding of who Estelle is and didn’t know Renne. I barely remember Cold Steel even. I know I’m not playing them in order but I like to play on handhelds like Vita for CS and Switch for Zero. Having to play on PC for Sky makes it more difficult since I don’t have as much time to play non handhelds and I don’t have a Steamdeck. But looking forward to playing the Sky games more now and play CS again and so on. Even if it takes me a year just to finish one game.
Totally understand that. I played through Zero and Azure exclusively on the Switch. The portability made it so much easier to play through.
I loved zero from start to almost finish. Admittedly I can’t stand when jrpgs devolve into “let’s kill god or anti god”. I will say I appreciate how it was handled better than most, but still eye rolled at final boss. Also the whole “holy little girl” trope better be more interesting. Rest of the game was fiiire
