I've got to say, I don't know anything about Final Fantasy or care about it all that much, but I trusted you as a creator and watching this all the way and was thoroughly entertained. You summed up the ridiculously spread apart story in a surprisingly concise (for 2 hours) way that was too the point but still interesting and emotional. Good stuff! I'm super happy I gave it a chance. Also Trickster Explained by A Jerk when? :)
What an amazing video, one of your best yet, hell, I stopped watching you for just DBD and started watching you just for being yourself, the reason why I enjoyed your DbD videos was not just because I'm a fan of the game but because I'm a fan of you, this video is a masterpiece and I hope you keep going at it, making content like this, wether long or short, I just want you to be in it. As for Omori, I really want to play it, it comes out on switch soon so I'll finally have a chance, I hope you make a video about it since you not only keep bringing it up but because it's a good game you actually enjoy s lot from what I've seen, see you next video, Rowby
Was worried cuz I hadn't seen a post in a while and then you come out with this monster of a video. You sir are underrated af with the amount of time and effort you put into these.
After listening to this, you can definitely tell you put the work in and how you felt about the game. You can tell it definitely impacted you toward the end of the video. Also would love to see something like this again from you. Despite all the jokes and jabs at the game it felt genuine to. Keep up the good work my dude. See ya when your next vid pops up!
This is such a personal video, and it shows how much work you put in it. I love it, and I hope that one day you get as much attention as you deserve for it.

"It's possible that throughout this video you'll notice I swap to Prompto a lot and it's not just because I wanna top him." I was lying in bed and it was like 2am and I lost it laughing...
FF15 was awful. Especially the second half of it. If they had just kept it as a couple of friends on a road trip adventure, the game would have been fine.
I find it absurd that I can thoroughly enjoy a video like this from your channel and proceed to see the like counter so insanely low. The amount of polish and genuine personality here is astounding, and it's a shame that it's going unnoticed
Rowby: You could also just click off the video, It's saves your spot for you. It's not 2011 you know. Me: *Checks how long the video is* Holy shit, so that's where you've been for the past 2 months Edit: Also this man spent several months probs even a year working on this 2 hour video of a game he cares about and it has only 28k views compared to all of his jerk's guides to dbd having at minimum like 100k views each
I know nothing about FF but i sat through the whole video because rowby is super entertaining and keeps me engaged with plenty of humour. I do hope he blows up in this kind of content and not just DBD.
I will level with you Rowby, I might not have watched this video if I wasn't convinced how much this project ment to you at the end of your DBD Ring video. Thanks dude.
I always go into your videos (especially the longer ones) with the idea that “Hey i really like this guy but ill just watch this video until i get bored” but here I am, having watched a 2 hr video about a series i have never played, dont care about, and all because the funny cartoon man makes jokes every now and then. 10/10, would do again
Just so you know Rowby, I'm surprised that you haven't been able to do many collabs with other creators (except for you making Bakamatsu screech like a crow). With this amount of effort, with enough collabs on your side, I think that your channel could skyrocket to the 100K mark really easily. Also... Onryo Explained by A Jerk when? :)
This was such a treat to watch and heartbreaking how little attention it has gotten. I encourage you to keep branching out and making content that you want to make instead of locking yourself to dbd.
Even though I've never played a final fantasy game, damn this vid was good. Its nice to have both objective analysis/a bit of a history lesson about a game, while also combining one individual's own personal feelings about it. I'm glad you took the time to make what you wanted, because I really think you did the game justice, and it was entertaining, funny, informative, emotional and all around a good watch. Great work man.
You made me curious about Episode Duscae. I never played that demo, and now I kind of what to check it out to see how differently it played. @1:44:14 In the context of the Episode Noctis DLC that never got released (but summaries of exist online) this quote actually makes sense. The Dawn of the Future DLC packs were essentially building up to an alternate ending of the game that positions Bahamut as the true villain of the story with Ardyn having been forced by Bahamut to do all that evil stuff. That quote would fit a twist ending wherein your main enemy only looks like the mastermind from your limited point of view.
final fantasy 15 was my first final fantasy game. i played it in high school, years after royal edition came out. it was also the first game that made me feel something throughout it all, and i love it. it kickstarted my emotional development as a person, which is probably a little crazy given its flaws and all but regardless i appreciate what it has done for me
Hey Rowby, I have been watching you for a while now (your videos are amazing and you are sooo underrated) and I loved the ffxv joke you made in that one video (possibly jerks guide to wraith about episode gladius ignis and prompto) because ffxv is my favourite game. I was so excited when I saw you made a 2 HOUR LONG VIDEO on ffxv and by the title I already knew you felt the same way I do about it (kinda dumb, but it hits the feels). I just watched it and I have to say, I could not agree more with all of your thoughts on it plus the video is as entertaining as a chocobo. It's okay. I cried too.
Your videos that aren't about dbd are better but they get way less views, sadly. I hope you keep doing content like this, I wish the best for your channel.
I’ve never beaten this game, but I find the story surrounding it to be fascinating. Great video and it deserves a million views for all the effort you put into it!
This is legit the best video I have seen in a long while. Thank you for the hard work and time it took to make such great content my dude! You are the best TH-camr in the game. Keep up the great work!
Bought this game cause of ghe flying car on the back of the box, during play I thought there was going to be more then 1 map and we were gonna go on a grand adventure. No you stay in 1 area. Getting to the end of the game I read something that says you get the flying car after beating the game. I spent the whole game not doing what I bought it for. Playing it years later and doing some actual googling reveled the car part was at the top of the map and wasn't a quest given by cidny which means I could of done it way sooner
I literally dont care for final fantasy or Jrpgs but I finished the video and I'm glad that despite its flaw you really like the game. We all have those one or two games that needed more polish or gameplay reworks but we love them regardless.
I think I've watched this videos 2-3 times and I still come back to it. You have the same feelings about this game as me. Its such a mess but I still love it for some reason.
I remember playing FFXV day 1 and enjoying it faults and all including Chapter 13 before the update. These days, I can't get into it. It suffers from mid 2010s open world problems that put me off after having further developed my rpg palate. Mostly the loads of empty space with nothing to do and the same 3 side quests in slightly different flavors to keep me occupied between main quest missions. I instead get lost in the pinball and fishing minigames, forget where I am in the story, and restart because I can't be bothered to remember plot points up to the first Crow's Nest Diner and see the pinball machine.
It's been a while since I've gone back. But I remember the fondly remember the open world section. It is when the game becomes linear that it slowly falls apart. If I didn't have the emotional connection to it that I got from the open world sections there is no way I would have kept playing. FF15 is an obvious victim of troubled development as once you leave the open world, everything about it is rushed and cobbled together, like they ran out of time. Even the DLC packs don't entirely paper over those problems. Although if Square ever re-releases these games they absolutely have incorporate the DLC into the main story. Episode Prompto/Ignis are essential story content.
I absolutely loved this, to be frank I didn't quite care for the final fantasy series but this video really made me wanna buy 15! I always love the work you do man, keep up the work!
did i play this game, watched all the animes, movie and read a book? yes. did i still watch the 2 hour review? also yes. did it in once sitting, i didn't even check my phone or anything. you just hooked and held my attention. wow. i was skeptical about this vid, thinking it'll be another one of those stupid reviews saying "boo don't play FFXV it's shit", but the amount of work and effort you put into this MOVIE about FFXV changed my mind. i think all of us have the same feelings about FFXV. the game feels unfinished, wonky and stupid at times, but damn it sticks with you. i never cried over a game, but FFXV ending. i literally cried for 20 straight minutes after the credits. the conversation from the beginning of the game and Florence and the Machine song, but now the lyrics shed another light on the story. it's heartbreaking and beautiful. i guess all of us mad about what Squares did to FFXV with delays, rewriting etc. and 10 years for a game is indeed too much. all of us see the potential. FFXV could've been the greatest Final Fantasy game, but they just shot themselves in the foot. i think they decided to tell the same story in FFXVI but in another setting, more condenced and it kinda worked, though FFXV is still better because of the connection Noctis has with chocobros. i really hope someday they revisit it, rearrange everything and give FFXV a FFVII treatment with a remake and the story told in ONE game.
Ow, it hurts that the new DBD video got more views in less than 12 hours than this one got in 2 weeks despite there being so much effort being put into this one. TH-cam sucks.
I've beaten the game twice, played over 200 hours and I'm now trying to 100% the game. My verdict. It's terrible, and I hate it. The game doesn't feel rushed, it feels procrastinated and I think this might be the one rare occasion where the developer owes the company an apology.
Considering the fact that Nomura kept changing the story of the game on an average of every three months for years. Effectively meaning that whatever his team made had to be scrapped. When Tabata was put in charge, he had to write an entire story and get the ffxv team to complete a game within three years based on nothing but concept art and poorly thought out ideas. And then, halfway through development, they had to stop what they were doing to learn how to code in a brand new engine and try to port or recreate everything they had built into the Luminous engine. On top of all of that, they had an extremely strict deadline that they could not go over. I think in that situation, Nomura and Square Enix owes Tabata and the team who made ffxv an apology. I think freedom can work, but it needs some kind of mechanical hook in the way it interacts with the level up system giving a sense of progression. Shin Megami Tensei V i think does freedom of what you use in a way that perfectly combines the dopeamine dump of a level up through demon fusion, and giving you a level of customization by building their kits in fusion. Along with how you can develop the niche of your MC and develop your team to supplement him. It both increased replayability and makes your character feel like a role you're playing. it's cool
2:10:18 dude I just completed this game, the fuck you mean I had to swap characters ? I did not know that and did all of them with Noctis, makes sense why the difficulty on these fights was way more than the others 😂 also this game got to me right at the end when the logo got completed, it was that "I've been playing it for this long and now I'm starting to get it" moment, after the last campfire scene I was on the verge of tears but that last scene just did it for me and I was just sobbing for an hour. OK now I have to go through the other 20 (yes I counted it) other pieces of FFXV media and then I'll be happy
I heard that there was a theory. Where the game was ment to have bahamut as the true final boss. And noctis would fight him with along side Ardyn . As a sort of fight against fate. I especially since bahamut was the one who caused alll these events to happen over and over again
I don't think that's how it would go. The main core of the story is that Noctis is someone doomed by fate, but the people in his life rally together to make it worth living anyway. If he defies fate, there's basically no point to it anymore.
@@RowbyVids well yes that’s the core of it now. Though before hand a different meaning probably was the case . Well..before it went through all that time in development perhaps 🤔.
I bought this game day 1 and was in the hype train. I was more than just upset when I completed it due to how incomplete the game was when compared to the mess that it is today. I have not played it since.
Great video essay. I found your referring to Sho twewy a bit excessive, but I understand how he can be annoying to some. I understand I’m a biased as I’m a huge fan of that series. If you are willing to try neo again he’s only on the party for the first week and rarely engages with other Npc’s
33:16 that shit is funny. Also Tlou2 and its fans think it has a deep story, but it doesnt. It has a pretentious story that is done without taste or sense.
I’d like to point this out, I played the entire game thinking you could only play noct, so for the entire game I only played noct, never touched any of the other party members and never knew promto could use other weapons so he only used a handgun the entire time, I thought the game was super hard cause I didn’t use the skill tree cause I didn’t know it was a thing, I pretty much challenge ran the game and I didn’t find out any of this till I watched this video
i pray that FF16 is good so we can finally have a mainline entry (because my life as a king is GOAT) in the past 20 years that isn't "pretty bad, but it has some ok bits"

Along with how you can develop the niche of your MC and develop your team to supplement him. It both increased replayability and makes your character feel like a role you're playing. it's cool
Ardyn drinking Mountain Dew sent me
2:10:18 dude I just completed this game, the fuck you mean I had to swap characters ? I did not know that and did all of them with Noctis, makes sense why the difficulty on these fights was way more than the others 😂 also this game got to me right at the end when the logo got completed, it was that "I've been playing it for this long and now I'm starting to get it" moment, after the last campfire scene I was on the verge of tears but that last scene just did it for me and I was just sobbing for an hour. OK now I have to go through the other 20 (yes I counted it) other pieces of FFXV media and then I'll be happy
Are you telling me you havn’t played Episode Ardyn?!
Oh my goooood he's back
"prompto realized he had no parents"
He had one
Cuz in the dlc he kills him and in the main story he dies idk how
This was an awesome video!
Elementia against the Marlboro should just be called dues ex machina
Instant subscribe!! Thanks for such a good video!
That's the ending for the ffxv novel.
I need more Rowby, more!!!
Have you tried level 1 run?
I think the main characters is what carried this game more than anything. I cried like a bitch in the ending
I bought this game day 1 and was in the hype train. I was more than just upset when I completed it due to how incomplete the game was when compared to the mess that it is today. I have not played it since.
Since you mentioned it you have to do a Metal Gear Riding review too lol
Finally… Hope you’re doing good robe
Great video essay. I found your referring to Sho twewy a bit excessive, but I understand how he can be annoying to some. I understand I’m a biased as I’m a huge fan of that series. If you are willing to try neo again he’s only on the party for the first week and rarely engages with other Npc’s
They also added Noctis to The sims 4
14:20 is my favorite part ☠
33:16 that shit is funny. Also Tlou2 and its fans think it has a deep story, but it doesnt. It has a pretentious story that is done without taste or sense.
I’d like to point this out, I played the entire game thinking you could only play noct, so for the entire game I only played noct, never touched any of the other party members and never knew promto could use other weapons so he only used a handgun the entire time, I thought the game was super hard cause I didn’t use the skill tree cause I didn’t know it was a thing, I pretty much challenge ran the game and I didn’t find out any of this till I watched this video
When the game came out Noctis was the only playable character. You could swap your character a little bit after Episode Ignis came out
This was a dope video very well presented
I loved this game. I bawled my eyes out with this game. I would compare the emotional weight of this game to devilman crybaby
As someone who has also put countless hours into this game, Thank you
I saw the video and was yaaa then while watching then I saw how long we’ll I guess I will watch about 17 times
I wish I could like this video twice
Miqo'te look weird outside of XIV, holy moly.

i pray that FF16 is good so we can finally have a mainline entry (because my life as a king is GOAT) in the past 20 years that isn't "pretty bad, but it has some ok bits"
