It’s not a competition,it’s just a group of Dutch singers all with different styles gathered together for a week on Ibiza.Each episode has one as the main guest and they are sung to by the rest,they choose songs that are personal etc to that person.Each episode they move to another and they get their favourite songs etc sung to them,so just a chilled music program where they drink wine,enjoy each other’s company and talent.
It goes a bit deeper than that. Maybe one needs to see the whole show rather than just the singing. It is about meeting a bunch of strangers in the same profession and really get to know them. Finding out what they're about, what moves them, makes them tick and what they've gone through. Then, to take a piece that hits home on the recipient and sender, making a beautiful musical value present. It is an awesome show, no competetition, just trying to find each other and finding ways to understand and support the others in the show y giving them something special. In the comments below it is explained what kind of show Beste Zangers (Best Singers) is. From all the artists on the couches only the guy with the beard, Tim Akkerman, knew Floor (from Flora, Goddess of Flowers and Spring) Jansen (Yahnsen) a little bit. During the series all of them discovered what a phenomenal singer Floor is, she surprised them everytime. The last episode of the series consists of duets. Floor did two. Again "Shallow" with Tim (singing he sounds like Bruce Springsteen) and "Phantom of the Opera" with the older gentleman Henk Poort, a Duch baritone, for years the Dutch Phantom and according to A.L.Webber..the best. Nice reaction. Beste Zangers (Best Singers) is a multi-episode TV program from the Netherlands. In each episode in any given series, a number of well-known national performers are picked (varying between 6 and 8 each season) and in each episode, one singer is centrally focused as the remaining artists sing songs by that specific artist. Even though the original artist judges the "adaptions" and "covers" of his/her songs done by the other participants, the show is not really a competition. The final episode is usually comprised of duets and a revisit to favorite performances during the season. Floor has been well established as a fantastic singer for many years before this show, and even before Nightwish, her current Symphonic Metal band.
Wow, enjoy the epic journey that is called Floor Jansen. You can pick any genre. When Floor is singing it it is by definition the best you have ever experienced. You'll suddenly love opera when she does it, or rock, pop, love songs or last but certainly not least symfonic metal. Nightwish is not from this world. When you catch the Nightwish fever the next one should be "the greatest show on earth" with Richard Dawson. It takes 20 minutes and it is indeed the greatest show on earth. It is about the evolution resulting in mankind. With a severe warning at the end. Watch it to the very end including the speech from mister Dawson. Mindblowing in its beauty. Do some research beforehand. Nightwish are storytellers. When you loved both these songs continue with " romanticide, the poet and the pendulum ( very emotional, about the suïcide attempt of the keyboard player composer Tuomas. After that "week fantasies" . But all their songs are epic. They don't do bad songs. The whole life Wacken 2013 concert is fantastic. Happy voyage.
If I'm right, this was the 6th episode so they had heard her sing several times. Every time she got up to sing, this is how they reacted to her singing. Floor can sing the phonebook and make it sound amazing. IMHO Floor is the best, most versatile singer in the world right now.

You should check out Floor singing Adagio, it is great, but anything she sings is perfection to me. Beste Zangers is a popular show in the Netherlands. They get together the best singers in the Netherlands and sing song to each other, sometimes their songs they have written or are popular for and sometimes songs they love. Floor is the most successful of them worldwide, but most of them had not ever heard of her before, because she sings on a metal band and metal is not played much there. She is not only showing these famous people in her home country she has the vocal chops, but also the people watching. She is selling out arenas there now with solo stuff. Week #1 was to relax and to socialize with the other six professional singers - all from different music genres, so that each one can bring his fans to the show. Eight shows were recorded straight after on a daily base. Seven in which each of the participants were highlighted and the rest needed to sing "important" songs from their career. Show eight represented the finale with two duets from each one. Floor teamed up with the opera singer for "Phantom of the Opera" and the rock/country Bruce Springsteen kind of singer for "Shallow" again. Show #1 introduced the opera singer. So she started with "Vilja song" from "The Merry Widow", a musical comedy, that the mum of the opera singer, an opera singer herself, was singing to him as a child. Some informations about Floor Jansen, she is a singer for 24 years so the post will be long. Floor Jansen joined the dutch symphonic metal band After Forever as a back vocalist in 1997 at the age of 16, but she took only few weeks to be promoted as their lead singer. During this time, while touring with the band, she studied modern singing at the dutch Rock Academy and also opera, musical and theater at the Tilburg Conservatory. After Forever dismantled in 2009, and she founded her second band ReVamp. It was an hard time for her, so in ReVamp you can listen to the angry side of Floor, experimenting in different styles, including serious death growls with a much heavy music. For the band she was not only the singer, but the main composer and the manager, it was too much for her, so she had to deal with a severe burnout, that took her outside the music business for more then a year. While recovering she finally received the call of the worldwide famous symphonic metal band Nightwish, asking her to join the band in the US tour, as they had to fire the former singer. Next show was scheduled 48hr later. It was a success, and after the tour she became the official lead singer of the band in 2013 and still is. In 2018 she published an hard rock album with her side project Northward and in 2019 she participated to the dutch TV show Beste Zangers becoming widely famous in her own country, also for the people who are not metal heads. After the show she started a solo tour in the Netherlands that ended last month. The last show in Amsterdam was professionally recorded and is expected to be published in her channels soon. Floor also had a lot of collaborations during her carrer with bands like Epica, Mayan, Soilwork and many others. In particular she is a usual singer for the dutch prog rock composer Arjen Lucassen, and is present in many of his albums for the projects Ayreon and Star One. A new Star One album with Floor will be published in November. She is also working on her first solo album, but due to the incoming Nightwish tour, it's not expected to be published soon. She is a vocal coach, horsewoman (rides dressage) who lives on a small farm in Sweden (hence the muscular build) with her husband, 4-year-old daughter Freja, horses, barn cats, and a massive dog. This was like the 4th or 5th time Floor Jansen actually sang on this show, the first time she sang Vilja Lied , which is an aria all sung in German and Floor put a bit of a metal / rock edge to it. This was the first time most of them had heard her sing and it was a classic microphone drop moment, shocked them all.
First of all, it is not a competition, on the contrary. Secondly, Floor Jansen is considered the best female vocalist in the world. She can sing every style that humans invented, to near perfection. The reality show "Beste Zangers" (best singers/dear singers, both translations can apply) goes as follows. The TV network invites 7 singers from the Netherlands/Belgium to do the show. They have to make a list of songs of themselves or songs that have meant a lot in their lives and send it to the other participants. Then they have a week each to make the songs they want to perform for the other their own, together with the band you see behind you. Not all do that preparation by the way. Then they go to a vacation resort, alone, without spouses, family, or managers. The group spends 10 days together there. They can practice with the band (especially the duets), but it is not known who sings what. In this period, being stuck with each other the whole day, very strong bonding takes place. Some became close friends even. Every night somebody is in the hot seat, being interviewed about life, highs/lows, very private things sometimes. The others sing for him or her songs from their original list, but usually with a twist (translated, for example, or in another syle). It is encouraged to sing outside your own wheelhouse (I have seen an opera singer doing eminem rap). The last episode is singing duets, with nobody in the hot seat. In this video Floor sings a soft pop song, but she usually sings symphonic metal. Forgot to mention: It might seem strange, but Floor was not well-known in her country before the show. She sings metal and that is not very popular in the Netherlands.

It’s not a competition,it’s just a group of Dutch singers all with different styles gathered together for a week on Ibiza.Each episode has one as the main guest and they are sung to by the rest,they choose songs that are personal etc to that person.Each episode they move to another and they get their favourite songs etc sung to them,so just a chilled music program where they drink wine,enjoy each other’s company and talent.

It goes a bit deeper than that. Maybe one needs to see the whole show rather than just the singing. It is about meeting a bunch of strangers in the same profession and really get to know them. Finding out what they're about, what moves them, makes them tick and what they've gone through. Then, to take a piece that hits home on the recipient and sender, making a beautiful musical value present. It is an awesome show, no competetition, just trying to find each other and finding ways to understand and support the others in the show y giving them something special. And yes, having Floor in there absolutely made my day. I have been following the bands she performed in since After Forever. Shout out to Mark Jansen there as well on the lyrics. They make you think. You don't have to agree to all the lyrics. They are however a very good conversation starter ;)

In each episode in any given series, a number of well-known national performers are picked (varying between 6 and 8 each season) and in each episode, one singer is centrally focused as the remaining artists sing songs by that specific artist. Even though the original artist judges the "adaptions" and "covers" of his/her songs done by the other participants, the show is not really a competition. The final episode is usually comprised of duets and a revisit to favorite performances during the season.
Floor has been well established as a fantastic singer for many years before this show, and even before Nightwish, her current Symphonic Metal band.
Wow, enjoy the epic journey that is called Floor Jansen. You can pick any genre. When Floor is singing it it is by definition the best you have ever experienced. You'll suddenly love opera when she does it, or rock, pop, love songs or last but certainly not least symfonic metal. Nightwish is not from this world. When you catch the Nightwish fever the next one should be "the greatest show on earth" with Richard Dawson. It takes 20 minutes and it is indeed the greatest show on earth. It is about the evolution resulting in mankind. With a severe warning at the end. Watch it to the very end including the speech from mister Dawson. Mindblowing in its beauty. Do some research beforehand. Nightwish are storytellers. When you loved both these songs continue with " romanticide, the poet and the pendulum ( very emotional, about the suïcide attempt of the keyboard player composer Tuomas. After that "week fantasies" . But all their songs are epic. They don't do bad songs. The whole life Wacken 2013 concert is fantastic. Happy voyage.

If I'm right, this was the 6th episode so they had heard her sing several times. Every time she got up to sing, this is how they reacted to her singing. Floor can sing the phonebook and make it sound amazing. IMHO Floor is the best, most versatile singer in the world right now.

You should check out Floor singing Adagio, it is great, but anything she sings is perfection to me. Beste Zangers is a popular show in the Netherlands. They get together the best singers in the Netherlands and sing song to each other, sometimes their songs they have written or are popular for and sometimes songs they love. Floor is the most successful of them worldwide, but most of them had not ever heard of her before, because she sings on a metal band and metal is not played much there. Week #1 was to relax and to socialize with the other six professional singers - all from different music genres, so that each one can bring his fans to the show. Eight shows were recorded straight after on a daily base. Seven in which each of the participants were highlighted and the rest needed to sing "important" songs from their career. Show eight represented the finale with two duets from each one. Floor teamed up with the opera singer for "Phantom of the Opera" and the rock/country Bruce Springsteen kind of singer for "Shallow" again. Show #1 introduced the opera singer. So she started with "Vilja song" from "The Merry Widow", a musical comedy, that the mum of the opera singer, an opera singer herself, was singing to him as a child. She is onsidered the best and most versitale female singer of our time, yet undiscovered by a broad audience. She is the third and current singer of the Symphonic metal band 'Nightwish'. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also has some classical singing education. 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. S he had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is very challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating is the iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival which set new standards in Open Air concerts. It was obvious that the match Nightwish and Floor was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band as the relationship between Nightwish and Annette was strained even before she got ill. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp'for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Some informations about Floor Jansen, she is a singer for 24 years so the post will be long.
Floor Jansen joined the dutch symphonic metal band After Forever as a back vocalist in 1997 at the age of 16, but she took only few weeks to be promoted as their lead singer.
During this time, while touring with the band, she studied modern singing at the dutch Rock Academy and also opera, musical and theater at the Tilburg Conservatory.
After Forever dismantled in 2009, and she founded her second band ReVamp.
It was an hard time for her, so in ReVamp you can listen to the angry side of Floor, experimenting in different styles, including serious death growls with a much heavy music.
For the band she was not only the singer, but the main composer and the manager, it was too much for her, so she had to deal with a severe burnout, that took her outside the music business for more then a year.
While recovering she finally received the call of the worldwide famous symphonic metal band Nightwish, asking her to join the band in the US tour, as they had to fire the former singer. Next show was scheduled 48hr later. It was a success, and after the tour she became the official lead singer of the band in 2013 and still is.
In 2018 she published an hard rock album with her side project Northward and in 2019 she participated to the dutch TV show Beste Zangers becoming widely famous in her own country, also for the people who are not metal heads. After the show she started a solo tour in the Netherlands that ended last month. The last show in Amsterdam was professionally recorded and is expected to be published in her channels soon.
Floor also had a lot of collaborations during her carrer with bands like Epica, Mayan, Soilwork and many others. In particular she is a usual singer for the dutch prog rock composer Arjen Lucassen, and is present in many of his albums for the projects Ayreon and Star One. A new Star One album with Floor will be published in November.
She is also working on her first solo album, but due to the incoming Nightwish tour, it's not expected to be published soon.
During the Covid shutdown she published some really nice cover in her YT channel I also suggest to listen.
Floor is married with the drummer of the metal band Sabaton Hannes Van Dahl, they have a 4yo daughter, Freja, and are living in the wild in Sweden with their dog Fenris, an horse, a pony and some cats. That's her way to recharge her batteries.
She is a very humble and lovely person, and she was diagnosed as an empath, you can clearly feel that in the way she sing, her ability to carry emotions to the audience is really strong and unique.

Floor (last name is YAHN-sen ) is a Nederlander, a classically trained soprano whose "day job" is as the singer for symphonic metal band Nightwish. She is a vocal coach, horsewoman (rides dressage) who lives on a small farm in Sweden (hence the muscular build) with her husband, 4-year-old daughter Freja, horses, barn cats, and a massive dog. Beste Zangers is a Dutch TV Show which is more of a celebration of Music in all it's forms, it's not a competition at all. Floor is the Lead Singer of the Finnish Symphonic Metal Band Nightwish along with doing her own thing every so often.

Ghost love score
This was like the 4th or 5th time Floor Jansen actually sang on this show, the first time she sang Vilja Lied , which is an aria all sung in German and Floor put a bit of a metal / rock edge to it. This was the first time most of them had heard her sing and it was a classic microphone drop moment, shocked them all.
First of all, it is not a competition, on the contrary. Secondly, Floor Jansen is considered the best female vocalist in the world. She can sing every style that humans invented, to near perfection. The reality show "Beste Zangers" (best singers/dear singers, both translations can apply) goes as follows. The TV network invites 7 singers from the Netherlands/Belgium to do the show. They have to make a list of songs of themselves or songs that have meant a lot in their lives and send it to the other participants. Then they have a week each to make the songs they want to perform for the other their own, together with the band you see behind you. Not all do that preparation by the way. Then they go to a vacation resort, alone, without spouses, family, or managers. The group spends 10 days together there. They can practice with the band (especially the duets), but it is not known who sings what. In this period, being stuck with each other the whole day, very strong bonding takes place. Some became close friends even. Every night somebody is in the hot seat, being interviewed about life, highs/lows, very private things sometimes. The others sing for him or her songs from their original list, but usually with a twist (translated, for example, or in another syle). It is encouraged to sing outside your own wheelhouse (I have seen an opera singer doing eminem rap). The last episode is singing duets, with nobody in the hot seat. In this video Floor sings a soft pop song, but she usually sings symphonic metal. In this show she also sang operetta, musical (Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort whom she admired from childhood on) etc. Worth a watch and there are subtitled versions of the show from 2019 available on youtube.

Forgot to mention: It might seem strange, but Floor was not well-known in her country before the show. She sings metal and that is not very popular in the Netherlands.

You are very enjoyable you brought up some points about her that a lot of people didn't pick up on right away and when you paused you made very good points you rewound the video went right back at it and this isn't even close to the tip of the iceberg..........
