I am from dharavi as well... It's the richest slum in the world... Ppl are well educated... N evrything is well occupied n export is done @ international level... It's a place of heaven with lots of ppl supporting you n once u've lived here ull never go back.... I love dharavi 😘

I was there for a month. It was most congested place I have ever lived. You literally can't step on the road without 100 of people around you. I was in a sharing room rented by one of Tamil guys there was 14 people living in a 180 sq foot room with asbestos sheet and everyone has to share a single bathroom. people stay there and search jobs once they get it they leave most of them stay only for 30 or 40 days. But it was always full. People coming and going. They often goes to the part-time jobs like serving in wedding functions and help cooks organised by locals. I went three times with the guys I was staying with you get 1000 rupees per day you have to cut vegetables and serve food. Once there was a death in neighbour house and there was no place to keep the body they had to clean the body and do keep it for 4 hours in the way (3feet wide gully) that goes to the room where I was staying.
The Tamil people live permanently there was from Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi district. You can get a parotta is the same Taste you get from Tirunelveli.

To all those telling that Tamils are mistreated in Mumbai are utter fools and have no knowledge about the history.
Mumbai, being a commercial and financial city was always known as a very ambitious city where youngsters and graduates used to go for work.
During the 60’s and 70’s, many tamilians used to go to Mumbai for work. Well known smugglers like Haji Mastan and Varadarajan Mudaliar are some of the big names during that time. It was during that time that tamilians migrated in large numbers to Mumbai to make a fortune. So stop being idiotic by telling that Tamilians are mistreated in Mumbai.
Of course there was a time during the 80’s where Bal Thackeray bashed the tamilians because of their increasing migration to Mumbai.
But, if not for Mumbai, these tamilians would have always remained poor struggling in poverty! I bet the tamilians staying in Dharavi won’t come to Tamilnadu even if the Tamilnadu govt offers them accommodation, because they know Tamil Nadu is much different than Mumbai in terms of making money. So stop being foolish when you say that they are mistreated. In fact, if not for Mumbai, they would not have survived or made a fortune at all!
I am a Tamilian working and staying in Mumbai and I must say that Mumbai is much better than Chennai in terms of education, infrastructure, jobs and safety. The people are more open-minded than tamilians.
If mumbaikars or maharashtrians have had a slum in Chennai, then we tamilians would have mistreated them much worse than in mumbai. atleast in mumbai, they can make a good living and make it big despite living in the slums. Moreover, it is they themselves who don’t want to leave the slum life as they are used to live there.
I hope those who had lived or stayed in Mumbai would agree with me.
