We're back with another installment of Ken Block's Raw Onboard Footage, this time from Southern Ohio Forest Rally during SS13 - "Diagon Alley". Early in the race, Ken and co-driver Alex Gelsomino took the lead putting down the quickest time on the first stage. They continued their pace into the second stage but luck would soon run out. The boys unfortunately went wide on the exit of a turn and hit a stump, breaking the right rear suspension. The team was able to fix the car overnight and get the boys back on the road for the second day of stages, albeit with a 17-minute penalty, setting them back to 64th position. Ken and Alex used this as an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new Subaru WRX STI and test some different setups in the car - which judging by the onboard footage, paid off.

Ive been playing dr2 every night in VR lately and watching ken drIve felt slower than the game lol... but the risks are a smidge lower in VR.

@@isaiahhernandez8160 Sim? There is a lot in Dirt Rally 2 that is far from sim. For example, a good sim would be able to change the pitch of the car while it is in the air. You can try it in rfactor, gtr2, RBR, iracing... all of those old sims change the pitch when you give it throttle or brake. Try it yourself ;-) Send it over a big jump and stomp the brake as soon as the car is in the air. In DR2 nothing will happen.
I have fun with DR2, it is ok as it is, but it is NOT a sim. I don't like that odd word simcade but for DR2 it just fits.
The drone pilots got mad skills tracking through those trees.....

Alex's pace notes are literally music to my ears. Need to have him as an option in the dirt rally games lol
You can have him in Richard Burns rally with mods I haven't tried it tho

RIP Ken - loved volunteering at the 21 Southern Ohio Rally and was great to see him and other legends. Terrible that he had to leave us when he did and especially how. Be careful out there snowmobilers.
It is insane how your car just soaks up the landings after the big jumps
theres a part of the suspension on the car called "shock breakers" or "dampers" as they call it that absorbs the impact as they land and these are no road spec shocks either those are expensive shocks made from super strong material and adjustable damping stiffness.

I wish there was a speedometer we could see. It’s so muffled in the car it sounds like he’s being easy on the throttle when really that car is screaming most the time.
In the forest like that you can’t really perceive the speed through a camera in the car.. I’m sure when he was in 6 gear he would be at 120-160 mph

There are a few videos explaining the co-driver's callouts on TH-cam. Within 10 minutes you'll be able to follow along fairly okay, even with a fast paced stage and car like this.

3. You hit 6th gear eight times throughout the run.
*after you hit the stump because of your unlucky shoes you should totally give to me, you were able to race the next day because of your amazing team but with a 17 minute delay due to super rally rules starting in 64th place. Great inspiration man I'm in the middle of saving enough money to get a little beater to start in amateur local Ohio rally time stages any suggestions on a cheap starter vehicle unfortunately bug eyes here in Ohio rot away pretty quickly I would love to find something to start with

Couple ideas; First idea. One vid, 3 runs. Ken goes out and runs it blind having never seen the stage. Then another with Alex after their recon. Then finally another where Ken goes solo after running it with Alex. Second idea. Alex drives, Ken co-drives!
