we throw around the word hero so much that it lost its meaning 20 years ago when everyone who did something is all of a sudden a hero. I might have to look up that word again because the meaning has to be changed. I am sure the coast guard do these types of rescue daily from their chopper . I guess they are heros also!
Leave it up to americans to make things that once had a meaning and value, totally useless like the dollar!

Here in England, emergency services won't go into waist deep flood water to save a car driver. Members of the public did it, while the pathetic firefighters stood by and watched. Well done America! People you can be proud of!

A miracle
Man this king pin held this whole truck.
"Good morning!" says the firefighter to his wife. Kisses her and picks up his travel mug of coffee for the usual trip to the firehouse. Nex' thing Ya know he's dangling from a safety line, 400 feet above freezing water, to save a stranger. I was a cop but was always amazed by firefighters... they'd be doing something unbelievable like this while I jus' stayed clean n' said, "Stay back folks, let the firemen do their job." Bless all of these special guys!

Stop blaming the truck driver there was oncoming pick up lost control that hit the truck driver.

They need to slow the speed limit on that bridge. That truck went through steel to go over the pedestrian walkway. A pedestrian could have been killed. Slow it down to 20 mph. This cannot happen again.

There's a semi-famous picture of basically the same thing on the I-5 (or it may have been Hwy 99) in the 1950s or 60s. BOTH that driver and this one are fortunate that the 5th wheel didn't release.

that is one strong bridge to hold that truck up! The bridge could have let go but it didn't.

And as usual, a news reporting show that doesn't answer the big question, of HOW did it happen, is it simply because it was a woman truck driver, because being a retired truck driver that put over a million miles on trucks all over America, I can't even begin to understand HOW this truck got in that position, it had to be some enormous, ridiculous, driver error that caused this accident 😠👎😠👎
As a retired semi driver that clocked over a million miles driving cross country, & over 40 yrs drive time, I can only tell you this, when you're a professional driver, especially in a semi, your trained over and over again on, the importance of leaving plenty of room between you and vehicles ahead of you, to be looking far down the road and in your side mirrors every 5 seconds, to read problems all around you, so IF SHE WAS DOING ALL THAT, there's no way she wouldn't have had time to STOP, WITHOUT being involved in any accident, This either was INATTENTIVE DRIVING or something that I guarantee you, involves DRIVER ERROR, no way a semi winds up hanging over the side of a bridge like that if somebody is following all the rules that you're taught as a professional semi driver...
Any video from the bridge cam showing how the accident happened?? Roadrage, DUI, Texting and driving, fell asleep???

They could have told us how she wound up hanging off the bridge ? Did someone cut her off, was there a mechanical problem, or was she texting and just ran off the bridge ?
Still under investigation, but it seems a multicar accident sent one car into the truck.
