Maroney was so underrated as an All-Around gymnast. I know she was spectacular on Vault, but she put up some pretty solid scores on the other events too
Mckayla has such beautiful lines and emphasizes artistry..she just needs to be a bit more consistent on her connections and I believe she can be a wonderful balance beam worker as well! She's beautiful to watch! :)
lolz, sarah finnegans floor routine song must be the most annoying to have to listen to while on beam. but don't get me wrong, love her floor routine and mckayla's awesome!!!!!!!!
I love Maroney. She was truly amaxing. I love how the floor music in the background went do well with her beam routine. If I was a gymnast this would be such a problem for me even though my routine would be choreographed to be a certain time I would want to go with the background music especially if it was latin based or a driving rhythm like the one played here.i almost wish beam routines were choreographed to music audiences complain that they are stale and predictable well with music attached I think it might cure that a little bit. Since flloor and beam are both 90 seconds (correct me if I'm wrong) a gymnast could have finese and grace in one while showing of her power house prowess in the other.
she misses a few connections, but the tumbling skills are pretty flawless, she kinda just floats threw them. Aside from balance checks everything flows very nicely
It's so weird to me seeing McKayla on beam. I'm watching this going, "Hey, what is she doing up there? Shouldn't she be vaulting?" LOL This was a good routine from her though!
The highest scoring team combo is Jordyn, Aly, Gabby, McKayla and Kyla. There's no room for an extra bars specialist- with Kyla you are guaranteed great high-scoring beam and bars. With Nastia you haven't a clue what you're getting which is a bad thing, with Rebecca you are guaranteed a fall on dismount and wobbles, or else a huge deduction if she stands it up. With Anna you are getting a low-scoring beam and possibly an amazing bars- or a fall, she has fallen on it too much.
She is steadily improving on beam. She used to score in the thirteens. I hope Mckayla stays around for another quad. She is getting better on every event.
i think she's got the goods to be a stronger beam worker. she's got nice lines and has great fluidity. i'd take a guess and say because she's focused on vault and floor more, beam doesn't get as much attention.
Well, Kyla Ross is actually a pretty good bar worker. I'm thinking that the team will be Jordyn, Aly, Gabby, Kyla, and Mckayla. Kyla would be more valuable than Rebecca or Anna, since she is an all-arounder, and can score well on beam too. Rebecca is a good beam worker too, but if one of the vault people got injured for TF, Kyla Ross can easily step up and do a clean DTY.
I will be very surprised if Bross, Li, or Nastia make the team. Bross and Li are both too inconsistent on beam, and Nastia has yet to prove she can do a full routine, let alone a great one. Maroney is practically a lock for gold on vault (unless she seriously caves under pressure), and I think the USOC really wants her on the team for that reason. Barring a major collapse (or miracle performance) by someone at trials, I'm 95% certain the team will be Wieber, Raisman, Douglas, Maroney, and Ros
balance. Each of the moves have been calculated before she ever went up there, by expert beam jumpers. She's specifically doing the balance moves that she's supposed to do because if done right it gives her a balance advantage. But if she jumps slightly off, she has to make an obvious and ungraceful fix to keep from falling, like what she did at 0:43
Since there was just too much depth on the U.S team. Douglas, Wieber, Riasman were top 3 in the all around, a big points margin ahead of the others, in all the events leading up the Games. So they would be the 3 to do AA in prelims. Ross was put on the team for her bars and beam, so she was always going to do those events in prelims and team finals. Which left just vault and floor for Maroney. Due to her injury she didn't get to do floor at the Games though, or would have.
Gymnastics would be funner if they didn't do floor and beam at the same time and the beam girl could select her own music for beam routine. I know it sounds weird, but could we just try it for once? I think it could be awesome.
Jordyn, Aly, and Gabby are definitely going to go. The US needs one more bar worker. Nastia (hopefully she does better in the Olympic trials), Rebecca, or even Anna Li can fill that spot. The other one most likely be between Alicia and McKayla. Kyla Ross and Sarah Finnegan are in the mix as well. It's hard when there only 5 spots instead of 6.
she's reliable. she gets the job done. overall a nice beam routine that has some polishing, but she didn't come off the beam and thats important for her cause right now.
It's not 'simple'. 6.0 difficulty is not too bad. Plenty of areas where she could upgrade- connections look easy for her. It looks easy for her to build on that, if she continues with beam.
Her start score was lowered because she missed some of her connections. She had wobbles, didn't quite fully hit her split positions. A lower start value and having mistakes lead to a low score.
It's a shame that she's inconsistent with her acrobatics on floor. But her dance elements were awesome and she delivers the choreography with grace when originality was destroyed by the so called "code of points". I would have loved to see her in an all around setting.. And there was the Larry Nassar issue that plagued the program. Such a shame..
i'm sure she will because she only has a minor concussion and a minor broken bone in her nose. it was good that she was smiling after she came back from the hospital :)
You can't have Alicia and Maroney, neither can do bars. Maroney is the better bet by far. Nastia is way too unstable to use, Becca'a bars don't score that high and her beam is a disaster waiting to happen. Kyla is the better bet by far. Aly, Gabby, Jordyn, Kyla and McKayla is the highest scoring team.
Maroney was so underrated as an All-Around gymnast. I know she was spectacular on Vault, but she put up some pretty solid scores on the other events too
She is great as an all round by injury took her out of contention. Her body couldnt take it much more which is why she specialised
Yes! Her floor has always been so good! very european style on floor that I’ve always enjoyed!
If her toe wasn’t broken she would have competed on floor in the London olympics
Are you dead
@@TheNonMakeupGuru She also was competing with a country so stacked in all arounders. Unlucky in that sense.
She really was more of an all around gymnast that just happened to be amazing at vault than a true vault specialist. She had many strengths.
are you dead
She was just unlucky to be competing for the U.S which was so stacked in all arounders, she rarely got the chance.
Mckayla has such beautiful lines and emphasizes artistry..she just needs to be a bit more consistent on her connections and I believe she can be a wonderful balance beam worker as well! She's beautiful to watch! :)
I always hated how her beam and bars would only be shown if she did really bad.
I love how makayla maroney is so solid on her landings
Wow, it's so weird that this video is from almost 10 years ago! The 2012 Olympics seem like yesterday.
I absolutely love her leos!!! She always looks so elegant!!
lolz, sarah finnegans floor routine song must be the most annoying to have to listen to while on beam. but don't get me wrong, love her floor routine and mckayla's awesome!!!!!!!!
great beam set from mckayla! i wish she competed like this constantly so much height on all her acrobatic skills, really hope she can come back
I love Maroney. She was truly amaxing. I love how the floor music in the background went do well with her beam routine. Her Leo 😍
beautiful! that music must have been so off putting
One of the best gymnasts ever
love how the floor music matches her beam routine!
i dont understand how she does this. i swear that if i attempted to do those tricks i would liturally crack my head open. i wish i was as good as her
the fact that she missed connections and can score way higher with this routine is unbelievable. hope she rocks it at trials this weekend!
beautiful!!!! she has improved a lot on her artistry
she misses a few connections, but the tumbling skills are pretty flawless, she kinda just floats threw them. Aside from balance checks everything flows very nicely
That music was making me want to see who was on floor lmao
carlos drey Sarah finnegan
Gorgeous lines
i just realized that before this moment i have never seen her do anything other than vault. what a refreshing experience :]
i think, well i'm guessing that the team will be maroney, gabby douglas, jordyn wieber, aly raisman, and either nastia, alicia or rebecca bross
It's so weird to me seeing McKayla on beam. I'm watching this going, "Hey, what is she doing up there? Shouldn't she be vaulting?" LOL This was a good routine from her though!
That music for the floor is so loud.
The highest scoring team combo is Jordyn, Aly, Gabby, McKayla and Kyla. There's no room for an extra bars specialist- with Kyla you are guaranteed great high-scoring beam and bars. I LOVE her gymnastics!! Cannot wait until she is competing again!!
she's not. she officially retired :(
Yeh I know :( sad times
remember she didn't want people top use the word retire, she has just stopped competing :(
She is steadily improving on beam. She used to score in the thirteens. I hope Mckayla stays around for another quad. She is getting better on every event.
i think some people who were there said the music didn't double in the actual arena, just did on filming.
Did anyone else notice that the floor music doubles on the videos for Floor but here the music isn't doubling? Strange.
Yes. Definitely would like to see this young lady at the Olympics.
Terrific set, McKayla!
i think she's got the goods to be a stronger beam worker. she's got nice lines and has great fluidity. i'd take a guess and say because she's focused on vault and floor more, beam doesn't get as much attention.

Good prediction!
Who's floor music is in the backgroung? I really like it ...
I will be very surprised if Bross, Li, or Nastia make the team. Bross and Li are both too inconsistent on beam, and Nastia has yet to prove she can do a full routine, let alone a great one.

I love her
whose floor music is playing in the background?
Late. But Sarah finnegan
Price is in the mix too. If Maroney is out for trials, then she could fill that vault spot, and she can contribute on bars too.
can anyone tell me the point of waving her hands around like she was dancing? i dont get it
balance.
Each of the moves have been calculated before she ever went up there, by expert beam jumpers. She's specifically doing the balance moves that she's supposed to do because if done right it gives her a balance advantage. But if she jumps slightly off, she has to make an obvious and ungraceful fix to keep from falling, like what she did at 0:43
It is choreography. Look at some older videos of beam routines like Nadia Comaneci and Olga Korbut and you will see.
Amazing 👏
She was an amazing gymnast
why didn't she compete on all events in London? she's amazing!

what attractive music
But didn't she compete in other events in London too? With her broken toe?
what was her overall place? like 4th or 5th? in this competition I mean

man i love gymnasts.
is that from best to worst
wow sooo much better! thats the routine that marta wanted to see!
Which the song? Anybody knows?
she's reliable. she gets the job done. overall a nice beam routine that has some polishing, but she didn't come off the beam and thats important for her cause right now.
i dont see alicia rebecca or nastia going anywhere
Love her Leo....
Wow! I so want McKayla on Team USA in London!
Beam jumper?!? Why are you making up random words and facts as you go along. It is choreography. Beam is supposed to have choreography.
Yes, and it can be way better. Hope she gets around 15.00 at trials.
you have to compare this routine to other routines like Ally's. Its very very simple and wont let her qualitfly for the AA.
that would be my team, maroney, douglas, weiber, raisnman and sacramone
she is so awesome i am in gymnastics but i am not as good as her she is the best!!!!!!!
and she did!
She's very good at it, i mean why she just competed on vault??
Jordyn, Aly, Gabby, McKayla, Kyla.
mckayla is actually amazing on beam
The best part of the routine is the pike front somi.
maybe not at the Olympics but at Antwerp she has a chance as there will be 4 on the team and it's only individual.
didnt she??
yessss
It's not 'simple'. 6.0 difficulty is not too bad. Plenty of areas where she could upgrade- connections look easy for her. It looks easy for her to build on that, if she continues with beam.
Jesus! That music
Awesome job!
hope she's going to recover in time for trials!
She was criminally underused in the Olympic Games
awesome
It sounds like Jordyn's or another one I can't think of who's though
Her beam is awesome!she should've competed it in London!
Amazing!!
Why the low score? she was good
pretty bad
Her start score was lowered because she missed some of her connections. She had wobbles, didn't quite fully hit her split positions. A lower start value and having mistakes lead to a low score.
i love the floor music with the routine!! haha
Yes but her d score is only a 5.9 and so its an 8.65 execution with a few balance checks and a step on the dismount,
IMPRESSED
Love the Leo!
that was funny. i was going to say i love the leo!
What level is she in
elite
bridget the cat R you joking. She was one of the worlds best gymnast in 2012. Gold medalist!
i really like the floor music in the background of this one. lol
its sarah finnegan's
Lily Williams I think it fits the beam routine!
so unfair to have to do beam with that music blaring from the other event !!
the music is Lauren Michael floor music
Jeff Beauchamp Actually it's Sarah Finnegan. Mitchell never used this
Sarah Finnegan's, which is why McKayla wasn't broadcast.
The floor music sort of goes with her beam
It's a shame that she's inconsistent with her acrobatics on floor. But her dance elements were awesome and she delivers the choreography with grace when originality was destroyed by the so called "code of points". I would have loved to see her in an all around setting.. And there was the Larry Nassar issue that plagued the program. Such a shame..
i'm sure she will because she only has a minor concussion and a minor broken bone in her nose. it was good that she was smiling after she came back from the hospital :)
she's so great on beam and she gets great height on her leaps and tumbling!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's sarah finnegan's. :)
me too!
Thats right
it's sarah finnegan's
she could be such an AA champ
You can't have Alicia and Maroney, neither can do bars. Maroney is the better bet by far.
