Never smelled other Kajal releases. I have not heard the best news about the house. But I'm glad my first and only, Sawlaj, is massively impressive (to my tastes). Glad to you enjoyed the decants. They were from two different bottles. One of them, the one i bought new, has a really bright opening of cumin. The other, darker, one I bought used (and it seemed not the best maintained). Everything is the same between the two, except the darker one's opening is muzzled. But watch, you WILL see an unquestionable difference. Other than that: heavy patchouli, tangy rose (reminiscent of rose in Imitation Man), and--what I think might be my favorite note in perfumery--labdanum. I felt it did correlate to Bel Ami. I did smell Bel Ami (new formulation) and Sawlaj for the first time within a week of each other, so I don't know how much that influenced my association. And then everything I read about the shaker version, which I never smelled, made me go, "Wait, that sounds just like Sawlaj." Much love brother.
@@RamseytheRam 😩 Oh my goodness, 2 grams and it sold for nearly $600. I kept thinking if I won the lottery, I would've bid on it and sent it to you as a gift for helping me and all that you do for the community.
Ramsey! Hello! I've no bottles from this brand but you've moved me to get a sample👍! My bottle of Not Dark yet arrived in mail last Friday. Scent is nice, just no lasting power on skin. Definitely something to wear on a pleasant summer evening. Perfectly named! I also purchased or rather repurchased Jovoy Les Jeux Sont Faits & got my hands on a vintage Kilian bottle of *BLACK PHANTOM (*original bottles Silver plate cap/later bottles gold plated & cap). Amazing🙂! Also repurchased jinkoh Store *SUNSET IN KYOTO. An amazing incense theme frag without the smoke. WONDERFUL 😊 Next release from Brand is *SUNSET IN TENNESSEE. I'm hearing it will be Whiskey themed. Pre order for it starts after oct.5th. Thanks again for Kajal review. A2
Great review, Ramsey! I love the sound of this perfume. I think I'd like it, as I tend to have similar scent preferences as yours. You've been the biggest influence in discoveries on my perfume journey. FYI, I looked up Sawlaj on Fragrantica, and Christopher Carbonnel is listed as the perfumer. I really like his work, at least the perfumes that I've sniffed so far.
Hello! I've enjoyed your videos these past few months as I've had a sudden interest in fragrances and their history and your knowledge is impressive! I actually live just 30 minutes from Enchante Perfumes (well, it used to be brick and mortar) in Canada and am kicking myself that I didn't have this interest even a few years before so I could visit. Such is life. Thanks for broadening my understanding of the nuances and complexity of vintage perfumes ... and making me regret not purchasing more back when I was younger. :)
The perfumer is Chris Maurice (edit: Kajal actually doesn't say. The internet is guessing) who's named for a few Kajals. A place near me carries Kajal, but I had not thought to try this. Easily rectified!
Hey, Ram! cause i don't want to pay for an overpriced discontinued Fetish, which I loved but discovered it after it was out of production, you think that Sawlaj would cover me as far as it goes for a leather chypre?
Nice to see you reviewing this. I own a full bottle of Sawlaj and it's a fantastic fall/winter scent. Believe it or not, it was actually Max Forti who made me aware of this frag last year
@@RamseytheRam Every once in awhile ol' Max steers you in the right direction. It is a fantastic scent though. I hear Vertus Silhouette is another niche scent that smalls like Bel Ami
I’m shocked at this review. I’ve smelled Kajal Homme 1-3 and Lamar. I wrote this house off as a pile of shit. I still likely won’t seek it out but nice to hear it’s not all garbage.
Also, I am yet to dive into the niche roam. On top of that I have yet to buy a fragrance from an official (web)store in the 2020s. Have only been into the vintages second hand lately

@RamseytheRam you should try the other ones in the Grey cap .. but one of the grey caps is a layering fragrance for the other 3 , I think you will enjoy the other ones, not sure about the layering one thou

Thank you for your generosity... I really enjoyed getting to know Sawlaj and I agree not a great house but a great fragrance 💪🐏
Hey Ram! I'd love to see a tour of your fragrances closet and for you to explain how do you sort them in there. 🐏
Chaos up there lol
Ramsey! I keep wondering... did you win the auction on eBay for the bottle of Malik Al Taif? I was crossing my fingers you would.
Nope... can't buy anything until the divorce is over ... one day I will have a bottle!

Yes multiple people have said that but I dont know if he is actually the perfumer or just conjecture
A happy Ram is a.......happy Ram, like I said. 🐏 Wouldn't mind sniffing more from the brand myself. 👃
@@justaddlight shockingly this is their best work...it's head and shoulders above everything else from the house I have smelled

Do report back and let me know what you make of it 💯
I overlooked this, and the brand in general. Tried some ok perfumes from them but didn’t try this one. I will this week. Cheers!
Nice do report back and let me know what you make of it ... I think it's primo 🤌🤌🤌
Nice review, need to try this one. BTW I'd love to hear what you think about Nimitr from Prin.
It's on the never ending sniff list🐽
Thanks for watching
Hello, Ramsey. Cristian Carbonell aka Chris Maurice did Sawlaj. Indeed, a very nice misterious leather in the middle eastern vibe.
Ahhh good to know... thanks for watching & commenting 🍻

Its not one to one obviously but its in the same ballpark...value for money is very good IMHO
@@RamseytheRam Thanks a lot! I will search for a decant so I can see it for myself!

Sawlaj is by Christian Carbonnel
Thanks for sharing... there is nothing on parfumo & nothint on the Kajal website...and i dont trust fragrantica...thats why I left it open lol
