Guilty of 1, 3, and 7 for sure. The more frustrated I get with a piece the tenser I get, the worse it gets. Walk away have a glass of wine, come back and it’s 10 times better. Always have to remind myself to slow down too.
How true everything you say here is. Would that I'd had this advice when I started out on the guitar many years ago. I must say that I've never thought of it as practice - it's just enjoying playing. I like your bluegrass picking which starts at 3:15 😊- the ultimate aim of some bluegrassers is to play like this, judging from what I hear these days!
LOL. Well done. Guilty as charged here, I think I've done them all (except for the pick thing). My roommate (also a picker) would laugh at me as I would scrunch my toes up so hard I'd get cramps...that was 45yrs ago. I've learned to relax, somewhat. 🙄
Ye defo enda your bang on , I’m around a lot of these speedies, they play mad fast , and funny they want it even faster, mistakes after mistakes, and worse and sad for them they don’t know there making them, 😂♥️🇮🇪🇮🇪☘️☘️👏👏👏👏
I meant to say that they all hit home with me and especially number 6 because I wasn't motivated enough to practise too long as my negative thinking would kick in, telling me I wasnt improving anyway, Now I'm full of enthusiasm.
I don’t play banjo. But I just wanted to congratulate you on a beautiful video. You’ve obviously done your homework on how to make good TH-cam videos 👏👏👏
Excellent video. What would a good practice regimen look like in half an hour . Scales for a bit, go over song you’ve been working on and then approach a new song?
this might sound mad but can over practicing develop an injury such as tennis elbow in left arm. im in denial or dont want to blame the banjo but i think its what ive done.😅

This video has inspired me to get back learning the ITB. I've made so many of these mistakes. Thanks Enda!!
This is so great!! Brilliant video and script 😂😂😂It's encouraging, uplifting and dead on accurate. I'm pumped- thank you!!!
😊

Awesome! These rules apply to any instrument - I saw nothing specific to banjos here! Thanks so much for a great video...

I don't even play banjo, but this is superb advice. Cheers!
Lol. I think I do all of them except the last one...actually, I think having fun is why I make the prior 6 mistakes all the time!

In a nutshell, yes! And remember when practicing a tune or a song to pay attention to any sections that are sticky, and work on those slowly
Thanks for the tips and inspiration Enda! Love the top-notch video production.
thanks for watching!
🤣😅😂...Brilliant!👌
Great list, and I particularly love the "it ain't brain surgery" comment!
